I'm a proud member of the coalition and so glad there are younger people interested in keeping history alive and actually get out a find locations that are part of the history of The Kid.

Fascinating! I love that it’s in a kind of secret place that can’t be easily pilfered and tampered with. Billy nailed it, picking that spot.

Outstanding! I am blown away by this. Maybe it's because I've never been southwest but I just can't even fathom that it's all still there. Here in the southeast the green takes everything and up north, people do. I'm so thrilled for you, Mr. Slatten. This is like finding a long lost galleon (at least to me). Worth more than gold! I think I need to be a part of this coalition. This is where true history kicks legend in the ass.

This is mind-blowing! 140 years later and so many relics undiscovered. Josh, I can't imagine the feeling finding this location and all the items. It had to be quite a high. I was wondering if you planned on keeping all the relics you found? I wouldn't blame you if you did, but it would be cool to have them in a museum.

Man I’m really glad you enjoyed it. Words can’t express how amazing it was to find this site. It’s unreal. So I do have plans to put the house shoes in a museum. I also have Windy Cahills original headstone that I’m trying to find a good home for.

Most likely not a ladder but part of the corral. Logs or planks would be placed on top of each one. Creating a fence panel. As for the log with metal on it, most likely a gate post.

Not being able to see if there might have been a handle on it at one time, @3637 the metal container you're holding, at first glance reminds me of an old beer stein like the kind of old Germany ? I've made dozens of them in the pottery world and it's shaped like most of the plain styled ones.

I lived in Las Cruces NM from ‘58-‘74. 1966 moved to Organ,NM. There is a closed off cave off Hy 70 behind the old Fishers Garage (white building) story told that Billy The Kid was locked up there. Rumor had it that Billy The Kid hid out there running from Pat Garrett. Billy was running from Pat across the W.W. Cox Ranch. The chase caused trouble among the ranch hands and the ranch house women. From that point on W.W. Cox a not so friendly relationship even though Pat was trying to lease some land from him which cause a dispute just hours before Pat was shot 25 miles from the ranch. I have seen a crude concrete marker at or near the spot of the shooting. Who knows? So many campfire and saloon stories told and add to and stretched. So much history in souther New Mexico!

Not a ladder. The holes are where they put the posts to make a fence. Your are looking at what left of a corral. They ran the posts through the holes. And made the fence around the corral that way back in those days.
