I'm so glad the former owner wanted to preserve this beautiful place. I love the water element that runs through and around the old mill, it's so connected to the land and the people who lived here. The valley is beautiful, especially with the mountains in the distance. Thanks again for letting us tag along on your adventures. You find the most interesting places for us to visit, it's always a treat when I see a new video posted. Happy Holidays to you and yours!🎄🎄
This was so meditative and beautiful! I could listen to the water, birds, church bells and animals all day. I would love to see this property! Thk you for sharing😂❤!!
I've recently discovered your videos and I've been mini binge-watching them. This one, in particular, I found so calming and serene. A theme runs through the most recent ones I've seen - about the things that we, in this time, are missing and, I think, yearning for - a sense of simplicity, of belonging, of connection to nature, of time not being connected to the clock, of being in control of our own lives, of self-sufficiency, growing things, earth, air, water, sky, wood, stone.
This place will still give a sense of stability and grounding for a very long time. Its maturity and healing qualitys are singular.Bless this host for sharing this treasure, and as always Kirsten and partner well done.
I'm so glad this channel doesn't add any unnecessary background music and intro/outro stings which would take something away form the feeling of the natural flow of interview and exploration of people's spaces. It's often so peaceful watching these videos :)
Beautiful , tranquil place, you can tell this place is special . You have to be chosen spiritually to be there. Kirsten understood when he described certain things, impressive.
In the mid 90's I moved to Spain to be the caretaker in a house very similar to this. 400 yrs old, 22 rooms but sitting alone at the top of a mountain with a trecherous, narrow trail leading up to the house. It was love at first sight. I loved my time there all alone with a gang of feral cats and occasional trips to the tiny village for supplies, a coffee and a chat with the locals. But winter in houses like this is not for weaklings. But I fell in love with the nature, the people, the high quality of life and many other things. Still here ( have my own small cottage now) all these years later. Don't you love his accent when speaking English?
@tangobayus Im just now 48, Ive had my own place for much of my life, and I stopped dating during lockdown. Now I find the drama, angst and mostly just the emotion of dating very difficult to handle so I avoid it. I still want a partner & kids but I really like living on my own terms too. I just assumed Im too far gone to partner up at this point. How did you "re-adjust" to shairing your life after being independent until 50?
In today's society, those who are able to be quiet on their own without going awry are the ones resisting the "attack of stimuli" we are facing. These stimuli are fine-tailored to make us buy things we don't need, to prevent us from studying, reading, be content on our own. How many people you know can be quiet for a long while without cracking? I presume this percentage has increased over the decades. He who learns how to thrive in solitude is building a better life for the future, and a healthier one, too, for that matter. Learning to be alone is compatible with having a life partner and many relatives and friends we constantly see.
Not a rule nor a law. Some people are loners and some even live isolated. Many people don't have partners and are not looking for one. We do depend on others (things at least). Very few are ascetics or hermits, and very few are truly self sufficient (not only food and clothes but any health issue like dental problems even). Most people can't bear being alone though, and also they look for fulfillment and happiness in people's love.
First impression about ten seconds of video and area views: Perfect, awesome. 💯 I've been watching your channel a long time. I like all the things you show. Modern homes are cool. But as a history buff, the Medieval Age and Dark Age turn me on. The architecture, castles, palaces, cathedrals, villages and archeology; I can never not watch to learn. This place is a treasure of information and centuries of life, love and hardship. 🧐💯👍
I'd love to see Kirsten go back to this farmhouse in the spring or summer when the winter from the river is flowing and the swimming pool is not frozen over.
I recently had to get a toilet riser because I pulled a muscle on the side of my knee and it was hell to lower myself onto the toilet and it came with arms. It's just a toilet seat that screws onto the toilet and raises it about 5 inches but it does have those arms! Which lets you use your arm strength to get up instead of relying strictly on your knees.
it seems that youtube has decided to auto translate video titles, and I can assure you that in french the translation is an absolute disaster (can't see the original title, but in french it sounds like people have been "humiliated", while I guess you probably used "humbled". Same for the automatic voice over translation, but at least we can change it (it's a pain though). It seems that as a creator you can deactivate those things, and in my opinion you really should...
Perhaps he'd be better working 24x7 at a miserable job that prevents him from being outside, in order to buy stuff to get to work and perks he might not need. I'd say: he's enjoying, getting along with the horses and nature, learning from books, going in the city when he needs to. It will be a moment in his life that will make him better, stronger. Knowing to be on one's own without the constant buzz of stimuli became a superpower in our society. When he's ready, he'll do more things. Meanwhile, you can live your life too. To each their own.
All I can say is wow what heavenly place. Absolute peace n tranquility.
What a space. What a life. Such incredible beauty. The human creation respecting nature. What a gift for all. ❤

Wonderful slow living among the natural stonework and the woodwork.💚💚

Stunning in every way!

What a killer place. Beautiful history.
The contrast to the Horizon House is so huge but still they feel connected in a pleasant way
I'm so glad this channel doesn't add any unnecessary background music and intro/outro stings which would take something away form the feeling of the natural flow of interview and exploration of people's spaces. It's often so peaceful watching these videos :)
Love Horizon House too ... worth looking up the videos on it. So glad this is all being preserved with such respect and care.
I can dream of the families that enjoyed this beautiful place. I'd love to visit this place someday. I can dream of that, too.

Wonderful place. Thanks for your work on telling the story.
Hidden 'piece of heaven'! Thanks 4 sharing...health an' blessings! :)
@28:36 the term in English he is needing is the "threshing floor". Another fascinating video, thanks!
I will dream about this place tonight
Tranquility
Gorgeous. Thank you
Love it 😊
Such a breath taking place..the reflection of the main house in the water was beautiful…such tranquility…⭕️🌟⭕️
I lived alone til I was 50. Life is better with a partner, in spite of difficulties.
I don't think he plans to live alone forever. This is more of an experience for this period of his life.

....'I am alone, but not lonely😊
Threshingfloor is the English translation. And that sled with the stones is called a threshingboard.
Houses in colonial new england used the small window feature as a way to stick the musket out to defend the house.
Meditative, calm 😌

This place is my idea of heaven.
Really surprised how much content you bring from Catalonia.
21:30 I think they were sewing or doing other work in the sunlight. In monasteries these are for reading
Nice
Mr Boullosa should show some "pazo" now, honoring his Galician roots :)
Certainly. Going to Galicia is something we have to do, of course. And many other things. I'm fond of Galicia in many ways, no question about it.
@@nicolasboullosa great! :-)

We need to bring back armrests on the toilets
I recently had to get a toilet riser because I pulled a muscle on the side of my knee and it was hell to lower myself onto the toilet and it came with arms. It was a nice video, but not the usual alternative living since it's owned by an Architecture firm
What is the metal circle on the floor in the garden which seem to be a bench circle or a fire circle ?? who did it and why ? just art ? thanks
30:41 "A table in process. We are still waiting for the chairs" if that's this part you meant
👍😎
I am concerned what might become of this place if it is opened to tourists :( Yet it will be costly to maintain as a "museum".
I am studying Norwegian language, can you help me, I humbly request
No.
Doesn't say where this is!

it wucks to be alone . loneliness is scientifically proven to impact health. find a girl
