This song was insane! Definitely gotta hear more of this band for sure!
Dude, Frank is singing, playing guitar, wrote the song, produced, etc. He even custom designs and hand builds pedals and modifies guitars. Super talented and smart.
1981...
Vince Marino is playing rhythm guitar. Frank, and Paul Harwood & the late great Jimmy Ayoub. Rest in peace.
Frank is a superhuman guitarist and 'Ain't Dead Yet' is one of his most killer tunes. Pure devastation!
he's also a pretty killer vocalist!
Oh, never stop discovering Frank Marino. So much to enjoy.
Frank is the singer, the writer, the producer and the guitar player. Oh yeah, he also plays drums but on this album it's Tim Biery. One of my hobbies is turning people onto Frank's music....I love the reaction videos. :)
Get it Frank!!!!
Thanks, love Frank Marino! 👍🤘
FRANK MARINO = greatest guitarist of all time IMO. Hail!
Such a BEAST! Thanks for watching!
Frank Marino started with his band Mahogany Rush back in the early 70’s in Canada. Their first album was called Maxoom which was released in 1973.
Frank is both singer and guitar player.
In 2019, he played a concert at the Agora Theater which lasted, wait for it… 6 hours. Effectively celebrating his life’s work. There are number of videos on TH-cam from that performance. Well w0rth checking them out.
He recently retired from music due to health issues.
The most underrated guitar player of all time by far. A true genius.
6 hours 😳 wow that’s insane! Sad to hear he had to retire due to health issues…
@@setonhillstudios I saw a recent interview with him where, if I understood correctly, he hinted that he might be able to recover enough to get back to it at least to some extent.
Actually the recording was made around 2010 but the drum tracks were missing. Frank spent many years redoing the drums. Yes he played the drums and restored the recording which was then released. Also there was 12 hours of music that was shortened to six for the DVD.
Its weird how he was missed...he inspired me to play when I saw him love and I'm still playin...he changed my life
This is the greatest rock guitar album of all time imo!
I totally agree 👍
If you like this you’ll love the album he released the year before in 1980, What’s Next. One of the most mindblowingly good and powerful rock guitar albums ever recorded.
I’ll have to check it out!
I've literally been rockin' with Frank for a half century. He is without doubt one of the most talented musicians of my lifetime.
Thanks for the excellent reaction!
Appreciate you watching! He is definitely phenomenal and can’t wait to hear more!
saw Mahogany Rush a few times in the 70s, great live band
Frank is the lead vocalist and lead guitarist.
I've been listening to him since the 70s.
"Something is Coming Our Way" (Live at the Agora on YT) is good, and he slows it down a bit with the haunting "Stories of a Hero".
The entire "Live" album (1977 I think) is very good.
Greatest arena rock guitarist of all time. Check out any of his live albums. You'll never hear rock guitar on a higher level.
Hey Corey, I'm so glad you loved the song!! I told you to hang on to your socks!! Frank is the lead guitarist and lead vocalist. This song was released in 1981. I'll see what else i have in my bag of goodies for you and Steve!!
Thanks so much again for your generosity! It definitely blew me away, they came out swinging! My musical sense was close if it came out in ‘81 🤣 I really can’t believe he’s singing and playing all that, just crazy!
Luckily watched Frank and the band live twice. Fantastic stuff. Love it.
Frank is both the guitarist and singer. How in the hell he plays lead and sings at the same time is otherworldly. One you should check out is Shawn Lane's cover of "Purple Haze" (the uncut version).
Oh wow, that was the most unlikely scenario for me 🤯 that just makes it even more impressive! Thanks for the recommendation on the Shawn Lane cover!
Saw him with Mahogany Rush a couple times back in early 70's
His version of Johnny B. Goode off of the Live Album will melt your face.
Sweet! Gotta check that out! Thanks!
..and that "Purple Haze" version too!!!
Facemelting guitar with Uber Testosterone injected vocals. Un matched, across the board.
@@Deltroyer1963Agreed.
He was Zakk Wylde's mentor. Ditch Queen blows my mind.
Frank is a friend since to early 90's. He refuses to play Ditch Queen live. It was his last concession to COLUMBIA records... Yes, great playing. Frank is more than notes per minute.
Hey... especially on this song... listen to his tone... 😮... 🤯. He's been my favorite artist since IV. What's Next is just pure sweetness. But Frank is a Performing artist. He's best live. I can't wait to hear him again. 😉
Frank Marino , Awesome guitarist Mahogany Rush great band.. Great reaction cheers!!
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed! He’s killer for sure!
Frank Marino, singer lead guitar, writer, producer, sound engineer, nothing Frank can't do when it comes to making great music.Paul Harwood on bass,Jimmy Ayoub on drums, who passed earlier this year, and Frank's brother Vince on rhytym guitar.Frak plays some great covers, but does write some great songs as well.Frank's last work, was Live at the Agora Theatre, check out It's Begun To Rain,The Answer and Strange Dreams from that. For a great cover he did, check out I'll Play The Blues For you by Albert King.Frank may not be the best, but there is nobody better than him.
Frank is L E G E N D
I recommend THE ANSWER live at the Agora.
Anything from Agora!
King of the six string.
Very interesting! I had never heard anything from this guy or his band, at all -- not even his name! WOW! That's pretty unusual for me. I would have thought that at least one of my kids had grabbed hold of this one, but...nope...if they had, I would have at LEAST remembered the DRUMS! The guitar stuff doesn't grab me nearly as much as the drums, in this one.
Thanks for the reaction. 😀
The guitar stuff doesn't grab me nearly as much as the drums, in this one.
Frank had a pretty rough experience from CBS. They actively tried to quash his career. Frank is No Puppet.
Most underrated guitarist of all time! a game changer!
He’s fantastic!
I suggest you read about the history of Frank Marino, how he learned to play all the way to current time as he had to retire due to an injury based on a wild story. Watch some interviews with him., a real interesting guy. Frank is the guitar player, singer, writer, producer just an amazing talent.
Frank has lock shoulders... There's no crazy story. I've known Frank since the 90's. He's a great guy and a very sincere man. But most of the mythology is just that. Buy it all especially Live at the Agora and continue to support Frank and his family.
OK for the record this is Frank's band :) He is the lead singer/guitar and everything else you hear is Frank's composition. He is one of the most under rated guitarists EVER :) If you don't believe then just google him :) Damn you should check out his covers of Jimmy Hendrix and you will understand :) Peace and Love from Canada eh:) sorry :) Check out this live version of all around the watchtower. th-cam.com/video/SjAk4PeRX9c/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for the info and suggestions!
I'm sitting here listening with my eyes closed and I can just picture Dan Vasc and either Victor or Garrett J. Peters tearing up a cover of this song. Oh, yeah! Love this song , too.
That would be killer!
Check out Rock n roll hall of fame ,same artist
Please listen to the track running wild of the same album brilliant 😁
Siger nd guitar is marino 👌🏼😊
Intially Frank was a drummer in his teens. Self taught gee tarists out of necessity.
Now check out Go Strange on the same album
Usually Frank is the only guitar..
From the same album, Go Strange
Awesome! Thanks for sharing and swinging by the channel!
@@setonhillstudios People need to know about this man. I was pissed when I discovered all of his music... I felt like I had been cheated out of years and years of awesome music.
@@DaleBrotherton No doubt! Such an amazing talent! I guess better late than never though
A guitar players guitarists
got
