You’re absolutely correct - Steffi was in good form here before the final. In the final, she seemed tense. It was exactly the same pattern later that year at the US Open. Apart from a poor match against Elna Reinach early on in that tournament, Graf played some superb tennis to dispatch Capriati, Novotna and Sanchez-Vicario in successive rounds for a total loss of just 10 games! In the final, a completely different player turned up in the final against Sabatini - tense, nervous and appearing to lack the same level of confidence that she had shown in previous rounds.
Have you got Any Monica matches from the French open 1990 , love this tournament that year , so many good memories ❤… Monica really struggled in her matches until the semifinal and it looked like steffi would be the winner but Monica was amazing in the finals 🎉

RG 90 was a wonderful tournament up to the semis. I wish it would have been Steffi and Jennifer in the final.
