Yeah, I love Kroxigor warspaned right now. They just fight hard, and honestly, I've been running non-reinforced raptadon chargers to pair with the krox blobs, and they make those warspawned hit really hard.
Ended up playing against Carl in the 5th round of thunderstrike with my own seraphon! Great opponent and a super close game, Hunachi are amazing this edition!
Hey the meat wall was very strong i ended 2/3 but was from missplays on my part as i am very new to this style of army also cogs is for the reroll charge you can normally hit some long charges if you go second or charge in off the respawn from the slann
biggest unseen suprise are the starblood stalkers. They cost the same as a starpriest, can also cast 1 spell, they get to ignore the first damage in each phase, get a 50% mortal wound in each shooting phase and to top it off you get a free saurus hero in the melee phase which has a 6 wound padding plus his own 2 points... all for 110 points...
My experience with the Realmshaper has been positive. It's like having another spell. You can't zap a distant terrain piece any more, but it feels like it's more consistent at short range. I play reinforced Rippers. Good for tactics, cheap. But I'll replace them with a second unit of 10 Raptadons once I get them painted.
I think I need to be more patient. My opponent tends to deploy 3" away from any terrain... so I move away from my Realmshaper pretty quick! lol. I could probaly pop it off more times later in the game.
@@CalebHastings It helps that I'm running Slann+Starseer, so I've got one guy back to hang out by the Realmshaper. But having your opponent deploy 3" out from all terrain means you'll have an easier time with the "take a terrain (with hunters of huanchi)" tactic.
I have Lore of Celestial Manipulation in the list and kept throwing out Mystical Unforging. I've also moved to Coatl Familiar and Beast master. I played Brian with Nurgle in Tacoma last round. That changed my Seraphon a little. Still keeping guard and aggradons.
How have you found the Oldblood on Carnosaur? 4e and a really cool Spearhead box is making me think of finally trying Seraphon for myself. The trouble is, so much of its points are tired up on this big boy, and I don't see it on many of the lists here. I don't plan to play too competitively. Will it to work in a beginner 1k list? Can I buy two boxes and use all 1400+ points in your average 2k game?
Yes, it plays well in casual and friendly games. In my experience so far, it hasn't fared well in competitive tournaments. I tried it this past weekend with: Being of the Stars - unrendable monster! Incandesant Rectrices - heals D3 in my hero phase and yours! But... it still got killed in 2/3 games without ever really making its points back. But... at 270 (I ran the Scar Vet version), it isn't a HUGE loss if it dies. And if they have to pour some resources into killing it, those are points they aren't trying to kill your imortant stuff with! lol It does seem like our monsters (and alot of army's monsters) are struggling right now.
Agreed I have bought the vanguard well spearhead now and played against my brother’s slaves to darkness but had a lot more fun in 3e with it’s 2 commands per turn and good damage for points cost but it has felt laking for 340 points dealing less damage and without the 2 commands
I guess that simply the best list is a crowd of aggradon lancers paired with 2 scar veterans a little magician for the manifestations and maybe a few hunachi skins for the battletactics. I played a low point matchup around 1200 points with only aggradons and they hit with honour guard buff ( +1 hit +1 wound) and their rage tokens so hard. Dunno what could be stronger^^
Raptadon Spam has been successful for me. I started running 4x10 of them as a proper spam but I think the best overall list I have tried has been this: Slann General - 6 Aggradons - 20 Saurus Starpriest - 10 Raptadons - 10 Raptadons - 10 Raptadons its 1990 points, take it with morbid conjuration and the lore with run and charge, the shadow starhost for extra d6" move for the 3 packs of raptadons. Most of the time I start turn 1 with the asterism that gives all the companion attacks crit 2-hits because the raptadons alone have 30 companion attacks each that hit on 4s. Aggradons are a hammer, saurus are an anvil, and it has a solid 174 wounds on the table (not including when you can likely bring back some 5-packs of dead raptadons)
Do you gimp yourself if you put your Saurus Guard or your hammer units (cavalry) in the general's regiment? Or is it better to have the general's regiment empty of additional units so you deny the opponent a battle tactic, and nothing of you gets hit with buffed up enemy units? Seraphon has never had good damage spells outside of warscroll-specific ones like Kroak's spell and the Slann's Comet's Call. I don't know why GW is reluctant to give us good all-around spell lores, but I'm guessing they feel like with our high bonuses to casting they don't want us to also have super powerful spells to cast... Aggradons, Kroxigors, and Slann all look good. It's horrible what they've done to our monsters...again. Another weird GW hangup with our army is that they seem to be dead set on making our monsters either way too expensive or way too weak, especially compared to other factions' big beasties. They're also determined that everything in our army needs to be average to weak on the defensive side with only 2 3+ saves or better in the entire army. All in all, I like the core rules for 4th edition but the army rules feel very lackluster, especially compared to the glory days of Seraphon Thunder Lizard and Kroak Bomb in 2e. Hopefully they fix some of this with our army book.... in a couple of years when they're getting ready to release a new edition :P
I've been running a reinforced unit of ripperdactyls and they've been hard to make work so far. Gonna split them into 2 units today and reinforce the raptodons instead. The Bastilidons have been MVP every game. Running one of each and the Ark of sotek puts in so much work and hasn't died once. I'm also running 2 reinforced units of saurus guard around my slaan. They're pretty much indestructible, it took 6 rat ogors and 6 stormfiends to kill one unit last game. And I immediately brought back 5 the next turn.
@@CalebHastings try splitting the rippers into two units, they scored me 8 points and held up the opponent for 2 turns. points well spent. The reinforced raptodons did literally nothing, just didn't need them this game. Try them again tomorrow.

Yeah, at 1500 pts... the Slann's Celestial Reinforcements ability become even MORE valuable. At 2000 pts, bring back half a unit of reinforced Aggradons is bring back about 10% of your army. At 1500 pts, it is bringing back about 15% of your army. Not a HUGE deal, but the lower point value games you go down to, the more valuable summoning and recursion of units becomes. What does your list look like at 1500 pts?

Guard ARE good in a 10 block... just keep them near the Slann to make sure they have their 5+ Ward. Aggradons are your Hammer. Slann+Guard are your Anvil. Everything else is board control pieces. The Krox Warspawned are probably the odd man out in that list. They will be more difficult to buff and like to be reinforced for max damage. Although... being able to throw the 3 Krox into something to die... and resurrect 2 of the m from the SLann is nice! Both! A big unit is great to hold the center board. But a small unit (I like the normal Krox for smaller units) work great around the edges. Even just 3 Krox will handle smaller infantry units with ease.
Haha, happens sometimes! I just played a Stormcast shooting list and they removed two of my big units turn 1. I killed their screens bottom of 1. They got priority and killed off two more of my units. I was left with VERY little on the table!

Yep, when you can pour all the buffs into the Aggradons on the charge... they hit HARD! It is a beautiful thing!

Yep! And there seems to be quite a bit of that right now. Lots of fight first/last.
It's sad that of my two armies, the army with the eternal all-powerful slann have the worst spell lores.
Hell, DoK has their own manifestations too!
I HOPE that Seraphon gets its own manifestations eventually!!
@@CalebHastings Its why I've been running Primal Energy. Its not the best overall, but its thematic for Seraphon.

Haha, happens sometimes! I just played a Stormcast shooting list and they removed two of my big units turn 1. I killed their screens bottom of 1. They got priority and killed off two more of my units. I was left with VERY little on the table!
@@CalebHastings mine was also vs SCE, it feels like they just get the same buffs but free when seraphon has to roll for it.
