This review is absolutely correct. I compare shop between amazon, ebay and aliexpress. If price is similar then I always buy on either amazon or ebay. Aliexpress has terrible buyer protection. They "auto-confirm" that you received item even if you didn't. I only buy cheap stuff from aliexpress and 99% of time, I wind up buying on ebay or amazon for the superior buyer protection. Even for the few cheap stuff I bought on aliexpress it gave me huge headaches.

This was a really good video! One way you can find a scam seller is WHEN they ship. If you check the tracking code multiple times and it's unable to generate any information, that's usually a scam.
when they scam they usually enter an existing tracking number for your country so you only find out when it delivers that it belongs to another customer in your country .. at least that is how I got all the scams done for Switzerland. Finding out after 2-3 months is a nightmare because the tracking info is valid just not belonging to your order

Same experience here. The most expensive thing I bought on AE was a camera tripod from a Chinese brand which is also sold on Amazon. It did take a long time to deliver but it did match all the notes on the reviews so I was happy.
I bought fairly expensive items from phones to entire 3D printers. Thankfully never had a single issue and I used to love the price but after the changes and VAT loophole closing. I now find I can pay almost the same to just get it next day from Amazon with of course all the protection that company offers.

I've bought quite a few things from AE. No issues, apart from the 128gb memory stick, but that was my fault, it was too cheap to be true. But usually I go to reviews first, if the item has been sold many times and the reviews are good, you should be ok.

He misplaced the package but I mostly buy there to get knockoffs of very expensive figures that are over like 100 dollars

They keep telling me it's been delivered to your destination area. Order the same product again from different seller and arrived in 10 days as promised on both. I see some sellers now charging 10 English pounds or a couple of pounds, like before it used to be free postage. Also sent one item back with no extra charges - but it will cost you a lot more sending stuff back in postage.

you forgot that getting warranty on items without the Alianz warranty banner is very hard to do. There is a form of "warranty" but getting it is very very hard.
Yeh, I briefly mentioned that you shouldn't buy anything like complex electronics, but I should have made more of a point of warranties. Much like getting a refund, it's not worth the effort. Don't buy anything that might even remotely need a warranty claim.

That's not possible - AliExpress handles the money through Escrow. If the product isn't delivered, you'll be refunded. It may take a few weeks, but if you file a complaint/non-delivery dispute, you will get your money back. It was AliExpress that charged you, not the vendor.

There's a dispute option for product not being as described, provide evidence like a photo, and Ali steps in if you can't reach a resolution. But yes, you do have to discuss with the seller first to see if you can come to a resolution between yourselves.
Ali rejected my refund request altough i have supplied them an official eveident from shipment company that the package was lost. i have asked paypal to help. i recommend you all to order from ebay, their buyer protection is very good, i would not buy from ali again

just don't do it, when your package disappears you will be ripped off. Seller claims its up to Aliexpress to refund, Aliexpress claims its up to seller. Cheap courier claims delivered, Ali wants proof the cheap courier (4PX) doesn't have package, but there is no way to contact 4PX. Seller won't provide contact info (battery charger store) or proof of signature, which they (seller an d 4PX) claim I have done. Aliexpress customer service is a joke (Nadeem and Eva), and rude, suspect racism against Canadians. Have purchased $100's from Aliexpress, first pack to go missing, flaws have reared their ugly heads, will never use Ali again, and will discredit Ali at all costs forever!
The feedback is only one factor to consider. Does it seem to good to be true? Is it possible the photos are faked, or at least the first image is not true? Does the shop have a random name like "shop123123"? How long has it been open?

My experience was repeatedly bad - goods not turning up after being fully paid for, goodsr turning up faulty or not the full order. Aliexpress not honoring their purchase guarantee and being forced into a process of Visa Merchant disputes where I finally got my money refunded. They the Traders and administration are no where near the integrity associated with E-bay or Amazon so Buyer you have been warned !
I've had mine stored there for a decade - but I'm from the UK, so your experience may vary. In europe we have much stronger card protection with chip and pin, plus a verification code on the back, and usually a secondary verification from the bank. If you're in the US, you're not safe using a card anywhere due to lack of authentication.
All of their servers are based in China unlike any e-commerce websites so whatever info you freely give to them will be stolen through your own consent. Your info will be readily available to be picked up, stolen and used by the CCP government. Apps are also the same too. Any problems you may encounter afterwards, it’s all at your own risk.

In my experience, costume props are nothing like the image they advertise with; you have to click through the gallery to find the actual product photos. Much worse quality.
Be wary about what you buy. If you have any reason to have to use the dispute centre you have lost as it doesn't work. It asks you to add information but you are blocked from doing so. I was also in another dispute and the seller was going to give me a refund but Aliexpress decided to favour the seller and i lost the refund. There are some deals to be had but take care.

You just need to go to AliExpres.com and login to your account. All the disputes are listed there. Email links are dodgy at the best of times, as it's difficult to redirect into an app.

I wouldn't recommend buying an ebike from AliExpress; you want somewhere with good support if something goes wrong. Local would be best, or a known brand.

Not when the local companies are just reselling the same crap, but I take your point and agree completely. If something can be manufactured locally, you should absolutely support that.
That used to be the case, but in fact, VAT and import fees are now charged at source. So when you get to checkout on AliExpress, it'll automatically charge you an extar 20% VAT. This makes everything a bit more expensive, but eliminates the chance of getting a silly handling fee added on by royal mail (which used to be a flat rate £12 + 20% VAT, regardless of whether the item you bought was worth $1 or $100)

i heard buying from china after Brexit. you might have to pay a stupid amount for customs like £50 for something that costs £5. is this true?

Has it been 90 days yet? Because that's how long you were told you may have to wait. The label has been created, but it may not get picked up for a week. It's not a scam; you're just impatient. This isn't Amazon Prime.

just don't do it, when your package disappears you will be ripped off. Seller claims its up to Aliexpress to refund, Aliexpress claims its up to seller. Cheap courier claims delivered, Ali wants proof the cheap courier (4PX) doesn't have package, but there is no way to contact 4PX. Seller won't provide contact info (battery charger store) or proof of signature, which they (seller an d 4PX) claim I have done. Aliexpress customer service is a joke (Nadeem and Eva), and rude, suspect racism against Canadians. Have purchased $100's from Aliexpress, first pack to go missing, flaws have reared their ugly heads, will never use Ali again, and will discredit Ali at all costs forever!

The feedback is only one factor to consider. Does it seem to good to be true? Is it possible the photos are faked, or at least the first image is not true? Does the shop have a random name like "shop123123"? How long has it been open?
@@MakeUseOf Okay so I found another seller selling the thing I want, the photos don’t look fake and the one review doesn’t seem fake and has a good picture. The store also has 98.8% positive feedback and has a proper name, so I’ll think I’ll order from them :) ty!
Don't expect any justice from their scammer friendly dispute team.. They always take their side despite every concrete evidence you provide.. btw I'm an aliexpress buyer for like 10 years now...

My experience was repeatedly bad - goods not turning up after being fully paid for, goodsr turning up faulty or not the full order. Aliexpress not honoring their purchase guarantee and being forced into a process of Visa Merchant disputes where I finally got my money refunded. They the Traders and administration are no where near the integrity associated with E-bay or Amazon so Buyer you have been warned !
Fair enough, but honestly I've had more of a nightmare with Amazon and eBay before. You can get scammed anywhere.

I've had mine stored there for a decade - but I'm from the UK, so your experience may vary. In europe we have much stronger card protection with chip and pin, plus a verification code on the back, and usually a secondary verification from the bank. If you're in the US, you're not safe using a card anywhere due to lack of authentication.
Use a privacy card. Never use your actual credit card. Especially with places like AliExpress.
All of their servers are based in China unlike any e-commerce websites so whatever info you freely give to them will be stolen through your own consent. Your info will be readily available to be picked up, stolen and used by the CCP government. Apps are also the same too. Any problems you may encounter afterwards, it’s all at your own risk.

@@wezzy4463 idk I don't have a cash app card but if it don't have your actual cc number or say it's ok. Bc it's the same thing as the privacy cards. They don't have ur cc number on them BUT I can mk them only usable ONE TIME so if anyone tries to run the numbers again they will not work. I ALWAYS set mine to a certain amount and a ONE TIME USE ONLY for that reason.

I was looking on aliexpress and I was scrolling and something caught my eye I needed it so I clicked on it and then I saw the price. It was 1 pence. I looked at the reviews and they were brilliant but it was to good to be true it was free delivery but I had to make sure it was true so clicked on this video and now I don't want to buy it
That sounds like a scammy listing practice, where they put price as 1p but jack the delivery up to £50 or something.

Figure? like, an anime or gundam model sort of thing? It's almost certainly a resin replika. Not original. Does it matter? It might be decent quality.

In my experience, costume props are nothing like the image they advertise with; you have to click through the gallery to find the actual product photos. Much worse quality.
Be wary about what you buy. If you have any reason to have to use the dispute centre you have lost as it doesn't work. It asks you to add information but you are blocked from doing so. I was also in another dispute and the seller was going to give me a refund but Aliexpress decided to favour the seller and i lost the refund. There are some deals to be had but take care.
How do you mean you're blocked? I've always been able to add an image or video to document the issue.
@@MakeUseOf The links didn't work on emails they sent and i wasn't able to add a video to the seller so i sent it via email return but they chose to ignore that. I could when i complained at the outcome of their decision.
You just need to go to AliExpres.com and login to your account. All the disputes are listed there. Email links are dodgy at the best of times, as it's difficult to redirect into an app.
@@MakeUseOfI did that with exactly the same result. In the past I had negotiated a refund with a seller and Aliexpress overruled it and sided in favour of the seller. As far as I am concerned there is no buyer protection and I'm not going to use them again.

Conclusion :
I will pay 10% more on Ebay, but at least I am protected against scam site like this one.

I wouldn't recommend buying an ebike from AliExpress; you want somewhere with good support if something goes wrong. Local would be best, or a known brand.

i heard buying from china after Brexit. you might have to pay a stupid amount for customs like £50 for something that costs £5. is this true?
That used to be the case, but in fact, VAT and import fees are now charged at source. So when you get to checkout on AliExpress, it'll automatically charge you an extar 20% VAT. This makes everything a bit more expensive, but eliminates the chance of getting a silly handling fee added on by royal mail (which used to be a flat rate £12 + 20% VAT, regardless of whether the item you bought was worth $1 or $100)
