Cool. It's easy for me, in game, to forget the basics, especially in the middle of a defense. Interesting to know that it can happen at Master level. I often tap out with 3K minerals because opponent has 3x to7x offensive units dps. Instead of unicycles, Zerg have to inject, build, creep, scout, attack. I would have built an observer whenever I had less than 3 and robotics facility idle, two sentries once floating 2k minerals, addition pylons, and stargate to phoenix. I think the key in the multicycle is the think phase - ok not ttacking/defending next 5 seconds, so what tech tree adds am I missing? Pylons? Very impressive to survive 15 minutes vs mass banshee without stargate. More impressive, if you ever see this again, to end game under 15 minutes with 4 phoenix followed by 10 warpgate smash.
This player also seemed very F2 oriented. With split banshee harass, I was very surprised there was no split up of the stalkers to reinforce the cannons. Something I expect of a Masters player. The move-outs were also with the complete army.
Basically he's used to just F2 a-moving at this level and winning. Terran does something that requires him to defend at home for a while, and completely falls apart.
@@FalconPaladin What's sad is he would have won with f2 A move if he just spent his fucking bank before quitting. He was winning in supply, resources AND upgrades when he left. The game was over and the toss had won.
Man, leaving a game like this and then realizing when watching the last second of the replay that you were quite far ahead and could win using 1 hand - I would be fuming as well. No wonder he threw this at Harstem for our collective entertainment
Mishandling those banshees in the main actually looked like an "F2" issue. They warped in Stalkers there for that purpose - but those stalkers got pulled away with the rest of the army to the two banshees in the north.
The only excuse for this is that they couldn't spend their money well with all their pylons getting killed. But they still could have spent their money on a bunch of pylons hehe

I haven't played SC2 in 10 years and even I know Banshees don't shoot up. I'm guessing this is the first time this Master League Protoss player ever saw anyone make Banshees because they're not that great, and instantly declared them imba because his Protoss brain couldn't figure out how to counter them.
Something isnt quite right about this opponent. The build was very intentional. The moment a phoenix appeared they reacted. Not sure if the even expected to win with this. Almost like they were testing something. Anyway, the opponent had good reaction time and was always on top of the game they were trying to play. Just like you said several times though, a bit of scouting would have made all the difference.
Almost like his opponent was playing a challenge - say, getting to GM with mass banshee. Or even - he was playing a challenge like no stargate finished before 15:00
The Protoss just did not respond appropriately at all. Any more than two banshees is weird and should prompt static defense at the very least. After seeing mass banshees, the Stargate needed to be built immediately. That said, there is no chance someone defaults to mass banshee at 4.5k MMR. @@moneygrab610 Yeah I was wondering about the fact that that was 1 cannon at most in the mineral lines. Also no split off of any stalkers. The army was just F2'd everywhere.

Today I learned that you can reach Masters with F2. Imagine 7 stalkers left on 1, 7 other stalkers right on 2 and your hitsquat with zealots and disruptors on 3 looking at your enemies base, because they don't even hit banshees with wet noodles.
Two additional things that bugged me. . . especially for Master's level #1 Why did he keep building Zealots against PFs and Banshees. . . just seemed unnecessary. #2 Did you get the feeling like he was using his F2 hotkey as the only means to click his army? His army was always focused in one spot which made banshee play too easy against him.

That was totally funny: "Mutas do much less damage." Only Zerg can produce 10 of them in one production cycle, while it takes ages to build 10 banshee....
Its absolutely nuts that in masters there a toss that are F2-ing their army, not sending zealots off and not using blink to navigate their own base with shift walk+shift b+shift a move to blink the cliff and attack. Starting to feel like the ladder is kind or inaccurate.
My guess is the terran didn't get any upgrades for the banshee because the plan was to keep this up until the protoss got over the surprise and Fenixes start to appear, at which point it would be time to switch and the upgrades would be wasted. And all the time this was supposed to happen aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnny moment now - except for a surprisingly long time it actually didn't. This one was painful for me. I don’t face it much, but I *always* lose to banshees with hyper flight rotors. My decision making and reaction times just go to crap.
Should be relief that you now know the counter to it! :))
I would've left too if the same gang of banshees were smashing my base this bad, when I don't even know what my opponents base looks like.
Basically protect yourself against the actual threat of banshees and run across the map and throw away 20 stalkers to kill some static defense and you'll do ok.
I'm assuming the dude was just very frustrated and was like 'wtf I'm out!' I know because I do this in YU-GI-Oh and other do it to you see a card and your like f--- this. However, that is a card game that is IMBA by design.
Gets attacked by Banshee, keeps building zealots, conclusion - Banshee imba
The fact that u thought of clowns with water balloons that quick over the 5790 other things that coulda been used as an analogy......
The tiny amount of insults and the 'invalid' stamp at the end make me believe this Protoss player was Harstem's girlfriend lol
This has to be one of the best Is it IMBA or do i suck yet.
When I heard the second mention of the clowns I actually lost it 😆
18:25-18:35 insert the upgrades people, upgrades meme ;p
your metaphors are on a whole new level. keep up the great content.
This was the nicest I've ever seen Harstem in a IIIoDIS
"If you were in Rocky, we only would have had Rocky 1, and that would have been it, and it would have ended half-way--- it would have been a terrible movie."
2 clowns 1 unicycle is my favorite OVA
Guy plays vs this first time in his life and blames imbalance immediately
Love the mindset!
That water balloon analogy got me
Deci-expand, Harstem. That was the word you were thinking of.
8:34 clown on a unicycle!😆
Guys, clown attacks are pretty common in the Netherlands. Please be careful when you travel here. Some even made it as far as to go to the dutch house of representatives.
you should have a TOP THROWS list, this one would have to finish near it.. he had the bank for ALL Protoss tech up and the ability to produce most of it... all those banshee's and he managed to kill so few probes with them.. the first thing you do with a banshee fleet is kill all the workers since Nexi and pylons are terrible at running away...
This may just be the best IODIS ever. GG Harstem, wp.
