This was one of the best ones. The whole army running into 5 lurkers and losing 50 supply for a lurker and 5 lings... Fucking hell. Love it. No one is free from mistakes even at masters. This series is so humbling..
What's most baffling to me is the submitter complaining that it's "impossible" to scout whether the Zerg is continuing the roach all-in or switching to eco... with two void rays within scan range of an undefended fourth that could have answered that question by just drifting an inch to the southwest.
I'm not sure if this is a bad play, but if I were the Protoss & saw 14 Hatch & a faster than usual Pool (went down at 0:55 instead of 1:15) I would reactively make a Zealot while the Cyber Core is building. This would allow me to have something blocking the wall so that lings couldn't get in (lings coming 20 seconds earlier than a normal Hatch first, closer to a Pool first time) & then I would get an Adept that could shade in to scout to see if it's fast Bane Nest, Roach Warren, Lair (Nydus?) or speed & then I'd cancel the shade & walk home & play based on my scout. Sure a Zealot cost 100 minerals, but that's a smaller investment than going Hatch, gas & Pool all before overlord, making lings sooner instead of those larvae on drones. I think I'd go Stargate + a Void either way, but if Nydus keep making Voids & don't let overlords near the base. If Bane Bust get a Sentry & he already had the double wall set-up, save energy for super battery. If Roaches get Stalkers as the Gateway choice. If speedling flood get Adepts as the Gateway choice. There is so much scouting/decision making this guy could have done even before the Void Ray(s) were out. As a side note, it's not always "bad" to be boring. If you stop a Roach/Rav push off of a worse than usual economy (for the Zerg) just add a 2nd Stargate & mass Voids & then go into either Skytoss or go into ground after a double Void opening, it'll play out even better than usual as Zerg took a late 3rd (so triple Queen production will come online later) & Zerg invested in an early Roach Warren & failed the attack. A double Void opening could probably kill both the 3rd & 4th base of the Zerg & any Queens trying to stop it, then the game would be a Protoss taking a 3rd base before the Zerg gets a 3rd up, & those Voids with map control could scout anything, kill overlords, harass, be recalled to defend, etc.
Ironically the directional antenna was discovered in 1926 by Hidetsugu Yagi. Despite this the British actually were the first to employ the system in a military context. When the Japanese captured British radar technicians in the Battle of Singapore they questioned the technician as to what the "Yagi" antenna was. Under interrogation they revealed that "Yagi" was the name of the Japanese who invented the antenna, so it seems inventing the technology isn't enough. You also have to use the technology.
early military adoption of radio is so fascinating. you'd think that such a sophisticated and groundbreaking technology would be something that would be developed in secret labs and rolled out en masse, but it was the opposite with drafted radio enthusiasts making battlefield radios from bits of scrap and usage slowly climbing up the ladder by discerning commanders.
I made a few mistakes that taught me what mistakes not to make. This guy played random, so i suppose he doesn't know toss well. If you see that many mutas and you tech into anion crystals, it's very wise to spend the 150/150 on a 2nd stargate, because it doubles your production and keeps you a lot more flexible, for little more than the cost of a single phoenix. If opponent techs heavily into lurkers, 2nd robo facility should come in handy. If opponent techs into roaches heavily and catches you by surprise, a 2nd robo also can save your life. Buildings really aren't very expensive compared to units, so they're rarely a waste.
Ik this is very late but he kinda did a lot of stupid stuff Why go pheonixes when your already committing to a mass ground army and have a million dt you can just morph into archons. Maybe he doesn’t know archons have aoe? Plenty of things went wrong
@@Name-ru1kt Archons are awful vs mutas, because they're too slow and they tend to attack the mutas at the corner of the cluster, minimising the AoE. If a muta-player plays well, you need 2 archons + shield battery on every base, otherwise they won't be able to do anything vs mutas. Blink stalkers are okay vs mutas but not that amazing either because they tend to split their fire too much. Phoenixes without range are very micro-intensive vs muta but are good, with range are insane. There's little that hardcounters as much as ranged phoenix vs muta. I guess colossi vs zerglings counters similarly well.
@@asdfasdf-mn8iu ironically he could of afforded that. But I kinda doubt that this person could magic box archons especially when your sending zealots to their bases. What is more likely what will happen is the zerg will run all the mutalisk in a big bunch and the archon will hit every single one. Some mutalisk almost always die when they try to go in against blink stalker. Also archons do work super super well. Mutalisk cost 100 minerals 100 gas. Archons cost two dt which is a total of 250 minerals 50 gas. Even if the archon gets two mutalisk kills then its a good trade. By the time it dies warped in stalkers or ones made already will arrive. And the muta might kill some workers but will lose even more doing so
Interesting game. I too wouldn't believe it's possible to lose a game when you kill like 120+ drones. But tbh even Terran would "remax" on workers pretty fast on 6 bases + iron bank...
Harstem, do you mean Probeius' zealot run-by was like Frodo keeping Merry and Pippin around, when he entered Mordor? Putting up a fire so they are seen by the Nazgul, throwing stones at the water so they are attacked by a Kraken, Pippin pushing the skeleton over the edge so they are attacked by the orcs.

0:22 ''''ZERGs''' 'beloved F2 Key!?? '''''''''ZERGS''''''''-F2 KEY???? DID he really just fucking say that!?? as a protoss!!!???? I am gonna smash my computer OMGWTF!!!!
Right, says the guy with shield batteries and instant warp in which makes F2ing so much more feasible while defending because if the Protoss F2s his defending units he can warn in new ones to defend or use a super battery. Zerg has to be more careful with F2 because they need to leave defensive units or they're guaranteed to lose a base to a drop.
I think part of the problem is that he's really bad at disengaging. Very frequently, his opponent had zerglings nipping at his heels and he doesn't take his best DPS unit to attack just once to deal with it. The whole army is moving and tripping over each other. Select the highest health archon or immortal, move it to the front, blast some lings. Or if you're going to lose the unit anyway, have it stand its ground and take some units down with it rather than losing it for free. EDIT: OK, I was too harsh at first. He actually gets better about this later in the game. 34:52 is proof.

For Protoss players from Zerg player, there's one scouting tool that is underutilized. "Hallucination Phoenix".. just mana and speedy scout that doesn't even cost army supply for you.
lol this guy lets zerg double expand after failing an all-in and this calls it imba, he had 2 void rays on zergs side of the map sniping overlords and turns around for absolutely no reason at all. Also him trying to call out protoss for having bad scouting? Bruh you can get practically guaranteed scouting intel with hallucinated phoenix + obs. Zerg has to sacrifice an overlord to scout terran or protoss and if the other player is being active about denying scouting they likely won't see too much of value. He also didn't get archons or build the fleet beacon for phoenix range as the DTs were distracting zerg, missed out on sniping one of the hatcherys with his stalker runby around 17:30, he could've recalled them right before the mutas came back and taken a great trade.
To be fair, Frodo was basically running around Middle Earth, offering ring to everyone who asked (except poor Boromir and Gollum). So he may have as well be screaming it out loud. :D
I died multiple times to fake 3 hatches, feeling safe but there was no worker production, just pulled workers from the main/second base. This is something that I learned from. Just scouting for the second and third base isn't enough to be sure there is no rush ^^ Greetings Maik :)
protos have the best scouting unit in the game... im always finding perv scouts in my base... try scouting with zerg, you either throw an overlord or ling to his death, but the creep vision is where zerg can dominate map control.
Myyyyy god, the Void rays at 12:40 could have killed like two mineral lines worth of workers but no, let's get wrecked by queens and unsuccessfully attack an extractor..... I have like half this guy's MMR and I would still manage better ._.
A dangerous player is an American Masters. These 2 in combination are dangerous. They have the belief they understand then they invade another country. Very funny and very true (comming from a brit which may seem hypercritical)!
The difference between us and the Americans is that, albeit after centuries, we've finally realised we can't be doing that anymore... the Yanks _believe they still can._
Didn't he? When he let the 2 HP Queenrun away after he killed like 20 Drones just to focus fire the Overlords... He must have known that he could not supply block him by any chance after killing so many units xD
I say double-tap. Which is a term Americans use for double barreled shotguns. I’ve also heard people say “both barrels” in reference to a kid getting absolutely clapped by his own boomerang. “Damn he really got both barrels when he threw that”
What jumped out to me in the complaint form, were all the decisions he made because he feared a ling flood, in all stages of the game. Besides the scouting issues they may have, I'm going to guess they're not that good with the sim city / sentry shields / adept warp-ins to defend against these. Could be a good thing to work on!
Toss: there is no way to scout! Zerg scout-denying is insane! Meanwhile: "Oracles and observes: are we joke to you?" "4 speed-zealots in the prism: User ignores this account." "Voidrays: Scout-denying is insane? Heh. Hold my beer".
The reason the first void was so late is because the stargate was started late. Toss went warpgate and stalker before dropping gas on the stargate. If he had just done the normal sg timing, he would have been fine.
as an EX high GM who quit the game after wings of liberty shut down i cant even belive that guy made master,,, plat max. how many players did sc2 loose to have players like that in master jesus
Zets, immortals and voids were always the most ultimate counter in SC2 when I played in top european ranks. That still definitely sounds like the best strat for early zerg. That toss player needs a lot of work.
Maybe there are tendencies, in the dynamic game, which often look like imbalances. Protoss don't like to lose their armies. If you beat a protoss army, you have won in most cases. But if you just get their economy, well, things are not so clear. Sometimes you get an army engagement 20 seconds later beacuse of allin and you have no chance. Terrans can reproduce their armies again and again, if you just beat the 2 medivac + 12 marines, you have to to that maybe 30 times, to get a real advantage, but if you come inbetween their production buildings, you have won most of the time. Zerg is maybe the strongest in macro, so only beating the army or only beating the eco might not be enough. but they have the weakest trades and must watch out for their economy all the time. That is part of the balancing. Very general explanation, but sometimes useful when you decide what race to play. And please you can very easily misunderstand that, if you don't know this deeply enough. This dynamics are part of the imbalanced balancing, which makes SC2 so great.
When he said 200k subscribers. I was like YAY! he has grown very fast lately and he deserves it, but then 130k away..... I laughed and was also just a little bit sad.

I died multiple times to fake 3 hatches, feeling safe but there was no worker production, just pulled workers from the main/second base. This is something that I learned from. Just scouting for the second and third base isn't enough to be sure there is no rush ^^
Greetings Maik :)
13:03 Ah yes, sonar is the synonym for radar.
Thanks for explaining that he probably just pushed down the d button. I wouldn't have known otherwise!!
Harstem I’m an American and I just wanted to say your stories...made me LOL...keep it up bud!
13:24 the info line says “Shottish physicist.” I’m assuming it meant Scottish?😂
"Just invent radar!"
How hard could it be?
Bats even know how to use it. xD
No, no they don't.
Omg the ending recap was beautiful. You broke him down like a god damn disintegration ray xD
I actually couldn't stop laughing at those analogies.
What is Harstem's superpower? Giving ridiculous analogies with a straight face. Brilliant.
"All road lead to rome except the one you chose which led to atlantis"- Now thats commedy.
protos have the best scouting unit in the game... im always finding perv scouts in my base... try scouting with zerg, you either throw an overlord or ling to his death, but the creep vision is where zerg can dominate map control.
I feel it so much when Harstem talked about saving money for a Gameboy Color with Pokemon Silver
Myyyyy god, the Void rays at 12:40 could have killed like two mineral lines worth of workers but no, let's get wrecked by queens and unsuccessfully attack an extractor.....
I have like half this guy's MMR and I would still manage better ._.
Also the upgrades there towards the end!
that american bit had me rolling
The part where Harstem has to catch himself looking at the wall 🤣
25:27 Admazing catch and funny as F.
I think this man has a serious hatred of overlords. So many times overlords got targetted over drones or even a hatch.
Didn't he? When he let the 2 HP Queenrun away after he killed like 20 Drones just to focus fire the Overlords... He must have known that he could not supply block him by any chance after killing so many units xD
I love how you take his case! 🤣. Sometimes tough learning is the best way.
Lowko says "double condom approach" for double-baggers. 😀
I say double-tap. Which is a term Americans use for double barreled shotguns. I’ve also heard people say “both barrels” in reference to a kid getting absolutely clapped by his own boomerang. “Damn he really got both barrels when he threw that”
That actually was the top definition on urban dictionary Erenis, but for obvious reasons I settled for the second definition ^^
26:26 Bio Terran players will say that Zealots before the 8 damage charge nerf are imba. They still think that they are imba lol
11:48 got me. Well played.
Harstem with Grandmaster players: "Precious, oh so precious."
Harstem with everyone else: "YOU F***ING DONKEY!"
Well a lot of them are his friends and even if they're not they are his peers and being rude to them might have repercussions.
You DONUT!! Book of ramsey
Most IODIS replay submitters seem to be bad anyway, so he has to hold nothing back.
Toss: there is no way to scout! Zerg scout-denying is insane!
Meanwhile:
"Oracles and observes: are we joke to you?"
"4 speed-zealots in the prism: User ignores this account."
"Voidrays: Scout-denying is insane? Heh. Hold my beer".
not to mention a sentry which can make free scouting units.
@@SirCanuckelhead what do you mean free?! They cost like 50 energy!! Keepo
@@hamster_designs right? its always such a hard choice between spending 50 energy or losing the game. Toss clearly needs buff! Keepo
So have you found a personality yet or can you only communicate in memes?
@@ahall9839 angry-zealot kicks in!
32:53 the workers evaporated, rofl.
dat instant replay killed me just like that lurker killed his buddy
Mate, I don't even play SC and yet I enjoy your videos :D
P.S. You need "Is it cheat or I suck" series :D
8:36: Wouldnt the void ray be more effective with it ability cast?
The reason the first void was so late is because the stargate was started late. Toss went warpgate and stalker before dropping gas on the stargate. If he had just done the normal sg timing, he would have been fine.
Harstem: You just suck. And that's the hard reality. I am sorry.
Me: No, you're not
29:40 "its a complete cellphone" ? ( lol i know )
as an EX high GM who quit the game after wings of liberty shut down i cant even belive that guy made master,,, plat max. how many players did sc2 loose to have players like that in master jesus
Thanks for the great video :D
When he said 200k subscribers. I was like YAY! he has grown very fast lately and he deserves it, but then 130k away..... I laughed and was also just a little bit sad.
Remembered to like at the invasion joke :-D
WOW watch the protoss's worker count drop at 32:53 : 43 workers in 5 seconds
I have a good fake story for Harstem. During the cold war the American space program spent a million dollars to invent a pen that would write in space. And the Russians used a pencil.
Surprised you didnt comment about how all his nexus's had Full Energy
Finally not the 3 parts of what he did right or wrong
Let's all keep in mind that those Lurkers had zero attack upgrades for most of the game and only got +1 near the end :P
I'm impressed by their essay
