That's my father Norm Ray to the left of Slim Whitman, starting at 0:50......one of the greatest horn players on the planet. I literally grew up in this studio, back stage......I even got to do a cold opening for the show with country legend Tom T Hall. I miss this show, Nashville Now, it was part of my childhood and I got to meet so many people through this show, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Goege Jones, Conway Twitty, Merle Haggard, Glen Campbell, Johnny Paycheck, Willie Nelson, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Don Knotts.....I even got to shake hands with TWO presidents on this show, George Bush and Bill Clinton. I'm happy I found this clip. It brings back a lot of wonderful memories
Love this song, I have heard it done by quite a number of singers, even by a member of a local Country Band. Slim Whitman could really hit the high notes. Rest in Peace Slim Whitman.
It's always wonderful to see Slim Whitman again -- He could really yodel. I think he even set some record at forty-five seconds. Thanks for adding this video !!
lost father may 2017, played this as we carried him out church, its what he wanted, loved westerns, think he was here before, nice to think he would of been jessy james, or billy the kid x rip dad x your up there with em x
Came across Mr. Whitman by mistake while looking for songs from Fallout New Vagas. I became a mager fan. On an unrelated note this song suits John and Arthur from red dead redemption. Rest in peace to a great old school country singer.

Patricia, TNN stands for The Nashville Network, a pretty cool cable TV network that was another casualty of corporate greed. It no longer exists and I once heard that much of the video library was accidentally destroyed. I just happened to set my VCR and tape some of these as they happened. I'll convert and upload more when I can. No chance of a DVD release.

Stan Jones's sake that's gone
@@izaqueumicene4802 sorry I do not understand your reference?
@@hollysmith1347 Sorry, that was a mistake, I confused you with a singer named Holly Smith from Canada.

I love Byron but can't find much of his recordings. Loved when they sang together.
i like his song hi is Nice singer .
I am amazed at how good this song actually is
Is it me; or is that the late, Great Jimmie Crawford on PSG? :-)
03-NOV-2022. THUR 12:44 PM.
Very few can hit the notes Slim hit. Great siner.
Was that Johnny Russell at the beginning?
does anybody know a cd of his with this song?
What’s Tony Siragusa doing in the background at 57 seconds
I love this young Whitman guy but I still prefer Vaughn Monroe's version.
Nothing wrong with slim he is not bad ...he taught me how to yodell i still do
Danny are you the Los Straight Jackets Guy?
is he even playing that guitar?
yes, self taught with left hand and he was right handed but had a serious finger injury.
Bill Brown
I think it was his middle finger he lost a piece of in the service
I really love Slim Witman kinda like country music's Tiny Tim!
Johnny Cash does this song excellent, too...
Michael LoVetere
I prefer Cash on this particular song. The way he sings it, it sends a chill through your body. Very ominous.
Bravo lol
And he was a lefty?
Shame his mic wasn’t hi enough
his voice peters out when he goes into his falstetto range....He was OKAY but I prefer the lower voices like Mary Robbins and Johnny Cash singing this classic....I Never have to hear this again, once was more than enough.
Well, he was right around 65 here, so his voice wasn't as strong as it was in the 50s and 60s
Danny send me private message.
crazy story
yes its true a sin to tell a lie ;; leonard a pili
Fat guy at the start heard 'slim' and he went catatonic
Nice version of the song, but the Outlaws version is the best in my opinion
Slim Biden !
He is not playing that guitar
Oh really.... comical
That is the worst rendition of this song I have ever heard
