  • Paint with all the colors of the dying earth because I’m exploring The Pastel City by M. John Harrison.
    Written in the early 1970s, which is before when fantasy publishing shifted to making easy money by churning out bargain brand imitations of The Lord of the Rings, The Pastel City by M. John Harrison is an adventure story in Dying Earth genre.
    The Pastel City is a first-rate novel that will appeal to fans of the Dying Earth genre, sword and sorcery stories, Vampire Hunter D, Dark Souls and Elden Ring.

      I hadn't heard of it until just a year or two ago, though I was vaguely aware of some of Harrison's other works. As per my review, I do recommend it.
