This is very true. I think my now ex was both quiet BPD and dismissive avoidant. What a horrific way to leave a long term relationship - just cut me out of his life without any warning and wouldn’t even have a conversation other than to accuse me of cheating with one of HIS colleagues who I never even met. He really traumatized me, too. There was ZERO cheating.

    Its called sulking.
    Punishing with silence.
Pushing you to the edge of crazy be ause you just want to know hy thyere hurt. If it was you, youll apologise ,but they. Say nothing. Or "you lnow why". They make sure you never get closure. Passive aggressive like this is sick amd a hall mark of co ert natcissisam.
My ex sulked in the garage for 2 years!

In the history of mankind there has never been a single person who has had to go through the divorce process who never got married. Prevention is the cure! Just don't do it in the first place.

They disengage because they are in fear. Imagine a young child makes their feelings known and they get abandoned or abused... People don't know they have to work on their traumas thru some process like therapy.

I'd say it's more often because they know it works and they want to play with your head.

@bbb8182 Imagine coming up with excuses for why that parent abandoned their child after they expressed their feelings...

Temporary disengagement for a short period of time is fine

That's passive aggressive behavior and is a characteristic of narcissism, but not all that engage in passive aggressive behavior have narcissistic personality disorder

    Its better to be dismissive.
Why waste time and energy on getting ANGRY??
Already having learnt to control one's own EXTREMELY BAD TEMPER.
Why don't you figure out where you went wrong till the time I am silent??

Uhhh cause not everyone that gets abandoned is "angry" or that emotional? You say you learned to control bad temper, but it's doubtful you learned to do other things if you think being silent makes people understand "what they did wrong"

@tarkov_6 Too tired of confronting anyone or getting angry on them.
Let them figure it out themselves or they are free to think what they wish.
If they are happy calling you a dismissive avoidant just for protecting your own peace then let them be.
