Thank you for helping a fellow sailor who otherwise would have had to call for assistance.

.... laughing ... you were just looking for an excuse to jump in the water weren't you ... was thinking of how to deal with that if on ones own, a line to the buoy and to a winch to create slack and also would prevent boat from leaving with the current .... good on you for helping out Josh ..... never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .... have fun be save, save our oceans .....

Good job helping out! I´d also add that I would not get near a prop without having the skipper hold up the ignition keys or whatever would work to ensure that there is no way that motor could get started up while being near the prop.

Subscribed after seeing your "Thought I was going to die" episode- Appreciate the raw authenticity of the moment and having the chops to air it. BTW, a better approach for this problem would be to run a dock line from a forward cleat to the mooring ball and use the windlass to tighten up on it, yielding slack to the prop snarled mooring painter. Once the line is freed one could then reattach the mooring line to a bow cleat. No dropped boat hooks, strain and effort to go around.

Just happened on to your channel, as sailing the Eastern Seaboard to the Bahamas is on my bucket list. Really appreciate your content, instructional videos, and your humility; Many would simply gloss over or edit out mistakes made. Well done, look forward to more!

You are brave staying in the water as this fellow boater motors back around... who knows what else he could drop or run over, but we've all been there!

Thanks for the video. Another solution could have been for him to throw in an anchor and then pull toward it to give you some slack. So nice of you to demonstrate how helpful the sailor community is in supporting each other. Glad you haven't given up the dream :)

Agree- or tie a line with rolling hitch to mooring line and then using winch pull boat a foot closer towards mooring ball creating slack in distal end.

I watch your episode "I thought I was going to die", I bet that was a scary night. I am glad everything worked out for you. Was the rigging original and old and brittle?

Making a night harbor entrance particularly single handing is certainly questionable seamanship at best, even if you are using Explorer Charts (you should use no other in the Bahamas). But as the saying goes, "It's better to be lucky than smart". But keep on going, as apparently the Gods are watching out for you.
