      M8 is the easy winner as the m8 doesnt get excessively hot and need to dim its screen constantly to the lowest setting.

    This is the best comparison video yet because you actually did a speaker comparison and picture comparison. The only thing that was missing was outdoor visibility which is important.

    The beautiful physical and software design of the HTC one beats out any hardware advantage that the g3 might have. The experience is just overall much better in my opinion

      @CKentSMS 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm the complete opposite. The metal build as well as the button layout turns me away from the One M8. Not to mention I'd much prefer a removable battery. Plus I actually kind of like LG's UI. I've never liked skins, but at least LG adds some pretty great features to theirs, while HTC is barely more than vanilla Android so I don't see the appeal.

      Ryan Kosior I agree the buttons on the m8 suck. Every time I have to turn off the screen is a pain. I hate the black bar it's so UGLY and makes the phone way tall for the screen size. The metal is only nice because it's in people's mi d that is premium material. The UI is pretty uglyi think. The icons make the screen look cheap. The g3 physically looks better even if it's plastic. Of the plastic was metal on g3 imagine how people would drool over it.

  • @LubomirDohnal

    G3 all the way! Due to its unprecedented screen/phone size ratio, it just looks so much more superior in person. Just my opinion!

    LG G3 is my vote for being the best phone on the market right now without thinking about price. 5.5" Screen fits in a compact body and a couple hairs bigger than the S5 and others. The body fits like a glove in your hand and the removable back cover with removable battery and storage is a big plus too.

    Having used both for months. The One is by far the best.
    The G3 is slow as fuck, and the battery life is abysmal.
    I loved my old Optimus G, but the G3 is a clusterfuck.
    Also, LG gimps out on their DACs. The M8 has one of the best DACs available in a phone.

    Ive had my g3 for a few months now, i absolutley love it, its fast,smooth and reliable, and if you root it there is a app you can download to boost the volume, my phone is now twice as loud as any other phone out there and im not exaggerating, im also running custom roms and my benchmark scores are as good as any other android device out there, over 1000 single core and 2900+ multicore where as stock the phone is around 940 single core and 2400 multicore, the phone is fast! And the display with the this bezels is the best part about the phone, 5.5inch display and its about the same size as a phone with a 5inch display, i love it and have zero complaints.

    One thing that was not mentioned is that the M8 obviously has a wider angled lens as there is more of the scenes are visible in the pictures..so either you want a much better camera with more vibrant colours and sharpness, OIS and laser focus (with 2k display/higher pixel density/larger display/removable battery) or a wide angle lens with a noticeably poorer camera with DOF (but much better looking phone/UI/speakers)..
    I did also notice in store that the M8 feels significantly heavier than the G3 but being (slightly) smaller it will be easier to handle but it DEFINITELY will need a hard case if you don't want to make a dent in that metal unibody when it falls accidentally - i.e quite expensive to replace! The guy at Carphone Warehouse told me that the M8 is the one everyone is buying and it is so reliable that they have had none in for repair unlike Samsung (S5 and Note 3) being the most unreliable as they the top returned for repair due to issues like the battery expanding so it won't fit anymore.
    I would have preferred if the G3 was a little smaller but they have packed that larger screen into a not too larger case. I was thinking of the OnePlus One but I will give it a miss since these two trump it by everything including cost if you order it online from one of the HK sellers making it only a little more than the OnePlus 64GB version when it comes out.

      Wilguens Joachin Being that HTC decided to half-ass the camera, yeah. HTC COULD have easily won the smartphone war with it's metal brush finish and a microSD slot... NOPE, let's put on a shitty 4 MP camera with a gimmick 2nd rear camera.

    I just got my LG G3(32 GB Black) at At&t and I must say it is amazing. I tried the M8 before and it is great, However the LG G3 is just in another level. Every time that I hold it I can't believe how cutting edge it looks and functions. I have had the phone for just 3 days and people with M8s, GalaxyS5s and iphones at elevetors and public places are always asking me things about the phone.

    This really makes me want the M8 even more. The overall experience with the phone seems very pleasant as that is exactly what I look for in a phone (Nexus 5 user). I just wish the HTC band logo in front of the device was not present, as the navigation buttons already take some screen real estate, and the camera was a tad bit better.

  • @ZVManning
    @ZVManning 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The funny thing is, when you played each speaker i thought there was really no difference. You could tell the m8 had more bass but really i think the G3 is a contender even with it's speaker being on the back. Here i thought it would be fail but it sounds pretty fantastic and close to the m8

    • @Axisoft
      @Axisoft 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      no.

    • @ZVManning
      @ZVManning 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      htc fanboy i assume, it's ok get over it, boomsound is over rated

    • @Axisoft
      @Axisoft 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Don't call me a fanboy based off of my opinion. The M8 will be my first HTC phone starting tomorrow, so I have no history with them. Also, I am not biased in my opinion. The LG's speakers truly sound more mono to me than stereo. And, to further prove that I have no bias, I will tell you that if the LG had an aluminum unibody and more saturated colour (with the exception of taken photos), then I would definitely go with it over the M8 any day. My guess is your insult could be contributed to ownership of an LG, no?

    • @ZVManning
      @ZVManning 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You telling me no, means nothing. The speakers sounded the same and yeah i just got my G3. The over rated speakers weren't enough to side step the battery or the camera on the m8 so i went with the all around better device. Battery, camera, screen, sound is pretty much the same. The metal body doesn't really have any real advantage besides looks. Chips and dents the same, scratches the same. It wasn't an insult it was more like an observation "no".

    • @Axisoft
      @Axisoft 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I honestly don't care what it means to you, it was simple input of opinion. I do agree that everything is pretty much the same except for the camera and speakers. M8's camera could use work but the speakers are better than the G3's period. That doesn't mean that the LG's speakers are bad by any means, and the same could be said for the M8's camera. The metal body is just a preference of mine; I like the "cold pillow" feeling of picking up a metal phone after it's been sat on my nightstand for a while. It's an aesthetic preference as well.
      I'm not by any means saying the G3 to be inferior to the M8. They're equal in my eyes, it literally is just preference. And I don't know how calling someone a fanboy is an observation when you're essentially labelling them...

    Honestly, the LG G3's display is pathetic vs the M8.
    The 2k resolution is completely wasted, and the contrast ratio is downright pathetic.
    I remember when the Xperia Z was bashed for bad contrast, when the G3 has the same amount (800)..No one complains.
    The increased Battery consumption (As proved in the Oppo 7 vs 7A) is definitely not worth it.

    the highs actually sound a little louder on the g3. in noisy environments this will probably stand out more than the htc, which is only louder in the bass frequencies, as far as i can tell from this video. as well the g3's speaker isnt meant to be pointed towards you.

    I'm getting a new phone tomorrow and these two are pretty much my frontrunners. Both look great, but the much better speakers and what looks to be a slightly faster ui are making me lean towards the m8. Screen size isn't a huge deal for me. I really can't see the resolution making that big of a difference on a 5.5' screen. And while the G3 has a far better camera, I really don't take pictures that often, and when I do the m8 I think will make do.

    I can't take this test seriously.
    A lot of people are complaining about stuttering and in other comparisons the display takes flak for its brightness and contrast in comparison to other high end smartphones.
    The high resolution for me is more handicap than an advantage. It just costs battery life.

    Btw, just a suggestion, when you mention about the price of the devices that you review, you should give the same amount of details of the unlocked price that you did with the carrier one, because every time when I heard you guys say "It's $___ on contract on T Mobile, AT&T blah blah blah...", I'm always like "what?". Liao Ssin Yes sense will be faster but it will be negligible. Sense is "lighter" then Lgs UI, But the same can be said that ios is lighter than android. Sense is solid and use to be my favorite but its closer to vanilla & boring to me now. I like having the extra usable features in the LG UI once cleaned up.

    Thin bezels help fit large screens in smaller phones, but don't you think HTC M8's front speakers are a main reason why it is about as large as the G3?
    Good sounding speakers are the trade off to a smaller phone, right?

  • @buddy1065
    @buddy1065 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    The bezel is the future but the screen contrast cannot compare even to the iPhone 6+ which I sold my G3 and bought the iP6+ after using it for 2 months. If screen size/bezel is your main concern get it but if screen brightness and contrast is a priority get the Samsung GN4 or iPhone 6+. I just couldn't take covering the display in daylight hours in order to see it any more. Otherwise top marks. Also be aware ATT screws you over forcing you to buy a cheap folding case if you want wireless charging. I dropped my G3 3 feet off the toilet and the screen cracked with the case on; another reason why I sold it.

    Nice video..just a little underwhelmed because people want to know how good this 2k screen is compared to the m8. Using similar wallpapers would have helped.

    some of the camera features one the M8 are available on the G3 too, you just didn`t showed them, for example to refocus after you have already taken the shot...

    Also, people who cannot get good pictures with the M8 should either:
    - Improve their photography skills.
    - Pass it to someone who knows what photography is to review that part.
    Check around flickr and you'll see numerous great shots that you wouldn't believe its from the "craptacular" M8's camera.

    M8 dominates IMO everything except for the Xperia Z2 unless we're talking about price cuz then there's Oneplus One or Nexus 5. Metal body, awesome software, and kick-ass speakers.

    for me
    G3 is more expensive by around 50$ plus
    i like m8 speakers
    i like sense 6 (its real quick )
    i like m8 updates
    i like m8 developer community (it has ton of stuff)
    not the guy that takes 10+ pictures per day
    i never used secondary battery and i will never
    u cant deny that htc is beautiful

    I recently got my wife the g3 and honestly the camera isnt much better than my m8 in low light or indoor the g3 makes massive noise and pictures come out with a grey haze while my m8 does fine and outdoor at normal size they look the same except the g3 has more detail zooming in andi like how it doesnt blow up the skies the m8 hates the sky and sun and the g3 at a certain angle it has a noticeable washed out screen and speaker is loud but m8 is in the front so its sounds better so overall i would pick the m8 as the better phone but both are good

    Use both and the decision is easy. HTC have really added value unlike other Android manufacturers, in meeting design quality with a great software experience. It's literally smooth on the outside and the inside. Only Android geeks on here and on forums pick based on specs, hence they never understand why iPhones sell so well either. HTC should be commended for breaking out the mould. Everyone else is making commodity devices

    I've owned both, and the G3 is the hands down winner, although the HTC performs surprisingly well considering it's lower clock speed and lack of ram

    I find g3 is superior to M8 in many ways personally and will be buying the g3
    * OS - M8 is better but I will root g3 and get the cynaogen mod when its out for g3
    * Camera g3 > m8
    * Battery - both same( usage wise) but g3 is replaceable so it has the edge
    * sound - m8 wins hands down ( g3 is just loud good enough for me to hear the ringtone)
    * front looks - I personally like g3 with thin bezels and 5.5 inch display
    * Rear looks - m8 looks better but I will be using a spigen case so it really doesn't matter its gonna stay hidden
    * Display - both are good IMO ( 1080 p seems more practical but 1440p is something to boast abt :p)
    * Price - both are at the same price
    * Brand value - I think HTC will turn more heads than LG
    Rest of the features are the same with both devices .
    So what do you guys think ? G3 is a better buy?

  • @9Sanskar1
    @9Sanskar1 10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    One M8 is better than G3. G3 might have better specs but it's UI is lagging! You will get only better camera but other things are better in M8

      Laggy what a dumbass htc is faster doesn't mean g3 is Laggy I have g3 never lags and g3 has twice resolution compared what you have on m8 and it still gives competition to m8 even in speed test.. Put that 2k display in your m8 and we will see how fast it runs

    I just got the LG G3 and took it back, sticking with my M8.. I dont think I will ever leave HTC if they keep the boomsound speakers on all the HTC phones, there is no comparison at all, from the call quality and speaker phone to media and music, its just to much of a pain to go to any other phone, the g3 sounded tinny and terrible on the earpeace when listening to calls both in ear and speaker, even with the louder 1watt speaker in the back, the brightness on the G3 is terrible they turned it way down to conserve power and they have a halo effect over all the text which is noticeable, the G3 was laggy still even with 3gigs of ram and when I plugged into my headphones or the aux in my car I could hear hissing and popping sounds, whether this was a defective unit im not sure, I did google it and others had the same problem, I think its an issue that is going to be on all g3's. Im sorry but even though the screen on the G3 is beautiful they ruin it with the halo effect and the brightness issue, you can turn off auto brightness but the battery start to get eaten up quick and the phone btw gets HOT, these are just things I noticed, even with the bad ass camera there is nothing that compares to the experience on the m8, even sense 6 is better with not so much bloat and ease of use.

    I notice all the G3 lovers are so caught on the megapixels. Most people take selfies anyway, which makes the M8 the better choice with its 5 megapixel frontface making it the best frontface camera on the market today compared to the 2.1 megapixel frontface of the G3. The 13 megapixel to 4 ultrapixel camera comparisons weren't that big of a difference and not a big deal to me. BTW I currently have the gs3, waiting on my HTC One M8 Harman Kardon to come in the mail hopefully this friday. Looking forward to it. Just wanted to put in my 2 cents. At the end of the day, we're Team Android baby! F@#$ Iphone!!

      To add to my comment, the HTC One M8 Ace will shut all the camera critics up with its 13 megapixel camera and 5 megapixel frontface along with the m8's features, which will make it the phone of the year again.
