It took a year, but the fix for MPH is done. I have no idea what the fix was probably just updating stuff with the encoding bit, but honestly it's better to have it fixed, than for you all to have to wait during long cutscenes that were by some technical fault. What was my fault though a year ago is that I missed a cutscene apparently. eaning that the video should've been _faster_ but due to the random encoding bug(s) it wasn't. So those 9 minutes of random nothingness is gone now.
Well not just this, but all 3D TAS games. Optimizing so many aspects of movement in 3 dimensional space just seems absurdly time consuming. Especially with touch screen controls.
Watching this has made me wonder, is the X432R fork of Desmume (or any other DS emulator with upscaling) any good for TAS playback or is it too inaccurate to rely on? Would enjoy seeing TASes in resolutions that arent super grainy like Nintendo handhelds tend to be.
There's an unofficial encode by Mothrayas using one of these Desmume forks uploaded on his channel. Personally I tried to use it and it crashed during playback of my TAS
It my be good now, the version which is required for this TAS is hit or miss depending on the game (0.9.9 fork). IIRC Metroid shouldn't have that major of an issue in comparison to something like Kingdom Hearts where the fading doesn't even work (it works these days). Also the x432R fork has to be forked further to allow AVI dumping at x4 the res. (which does exist, but only for the x432R 9.9 fork). x432R is using 0.9.11 now and sadly TASes are being made in 0.9.9 due to issues with 0.9.1x so far. Like Memory wrote, the unofficial encode that Mothrayas made back a year encode along side the original publication used the hack.
The game's title is written as "Metroid Prime Hunters" or"Metroid Prime: Hunters". They're basically split between which way it is so it doesn't matter. There's no wrong way to write the game's title besides writing it as "Metroid: Prime Hunters". Also a question. Where were you a year ago when this was published originally?
I wouldn't mind an HD remake of this game. Had some good times with it

I thought it would end with the true ending
this must have been absolutely mind-numbing to create
What makes you say that?

28:08 Holy fuck that is literally the coolest break I've ever seen in this game.
Yeah
lol what the heck did I just see
This tas makes collision in the game look like a suggestion. "please don't go out of bounds" the game asks politely.
its like going to explore the black void of space
that is what samus does
I remember loving the multiplayer of this game, my brother and I on our R4s. I think I played as the rock dude.
How delightfully ridiculous.
Man, I remember doing duels with friends using the demo of this.. Never actually owned the full game nor watched a playthrough before.
Astonishingly good graphics for a DS title.
Memory: uses a tas
Game: why do I hear boss music?
Note: This game looks surprisingly unbutt with a little upscaling; but of course that'd be totally useless to a TAS.
41:03 highlight
Between 5th grade and life it took me like a year to finish the game.
40:57 I always use that trick, even in regular playthroughs. That puzzle is whack.

43:34 WHAT?!
You know, I thought since i'm used to TAS type nonsense that I'd be prepared for this... no, no I was not.
Activating that cutscene when the room isn't visible results in some... weird effects
Yeah wtf
memory is the one that made this run right, this title really confused me
Why do all enemies that touch morph ball get damaged? What kind of trick is it?
Boost ball does damage
めちゃくちゃ懐かしい ...ありがとう。
Wow so fast

Here's the original th-cam.com/video/cVyom4sKoeY/w-d-xo.html
That’s just the authors encode, every TAS published too tasvideos.org gets encoded to youtube
I prefer people to watch the tasvideos encode tbh
OMG
the game is mislabeled

Spikechive I meant, in the TH-cam Gaming label. Which says this game is "Metroid" (the original)
Cool. Please next time elaborate on which one.
This dude is literally cheating my walking through walls and doing all sorts of shady bs. This isn’t speed run even in the slightest.
