Spot on. I have fond memories from back in the late 70's riding my Puch (which I picked up for 175.00 US) in the US Virgin Islands. It was my first motorized transport. 😆...Used to sit on my surfboard with it suspended like wings on that little Puch red maxi. Good times.
I started riding at the age of 16 too, haven't been without a bike since then, some 40 years on. I think that it's either in your blood or not,......I can't imagine life without a motorcycle.
Reminds me of a canal boat trip I went on as a kid. Four days out and four days back. When we arrived back we got in the car and drove the same distance in 30 minutes. Small mopeds are underestimated. If someone bought a new one that had plenty of service stations (Like Honda) in Europe there is no reason why you couldn't do an extended tour instead of cycling. I'm 70 and have been thinking of doing this instead of cycling.
I looked at the new version of the Honda 50 and thought it would be just the job for an extended road trip next spring and summer across France and northern Spain, as I am due to retire on January the first ( daft I know but I will be effectively retired before Christmas) and thought I might head off on the first of April ( I know) . I have an old Bonny 750 that I would love to use but it’s not really practical as it is nearly as old as I am and I really couldn’t be bothered trying to keep her going on a protracted journey as she has broken down most times I have taken her out over the last decade or so and I think I would probably be killed off a modern 750 as my reactions are not what they used to be fifty years ago. I just liked the idea of the new version of the old Honda 50 , haven’t actually bought it yet but I have taken it out for a few miles on a test and was pleasantly surprised by it.
Great work. I have just driven from the South of Malaysia to the Thai Border on the East Coast in a 26 year old 660cc car (Perodua Kancil). Sometimes, its more fun to travel slowly. I wouild love to do it on my old FS1E (1977). Those old mopeds would go for ever with a bit of tender loving care.
