I knew Peter Schickele was a bassoonist. Now, after seeing and hearing you guys, I'm convinced being a bit warped is a prerequisite to taking up the instrument. 😂
As someone that has played all the common modern woodwinds except flute, IMO oboe is the most difficult, then English horn. then bassoon. The hardest part of playing bassoon, I felt, was switching from bass to tenor clef in some of the older pieces of music -- like Ravel's Bolero. The bassoon solo in the Bolero is way up into the treble clef, near the top of a bassoon's range, so it was written in tenor clef to keep it from being notated so high above the staff.
The bassoon is not normally a lead instrument, but these ladies have managed to take it to new heights doing Ravel's Bolero. Very creative. Bassoons are cool. Thank you, girls. I'm looking forward to more performances. BTW, great name!
That needed to be longer! 5:29 just enough time. I have to wonder why YT waited this long to suggest this. I have been listening to many different music streams over the last 4 years. Glad the algorithm finally worked! You make me laugh at your antics and the music ain't half bad.
Wow!! A lot of work went into this little performance! Thanks to all four of you for all the hard work that went into this!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
Normally I would not listen to Bolero intentionally--I would, in fact, go out of my way to avoid it--but when I see that it is my favorite bassoon quartet, I did not hesitate and was not disappointed! The music is lovely, the video is lovely, and I LOVE the humor y'all bring to your performances!
I watched the concerto portion of the last Van Cliburn competition and was amazed by how often the oboe played a major part. The Ft Worth Symphony oboist did an amazing job in supporting the entire piece, Orchestra & piano.
you deserve more credit than you are getting for your talent... this is only the 4th video of yours I've seen and my mind is made up, I'm watching them all... liked, subbed and bell rung... keep up the good work and may the lords of YT give you a better place in the Algorithm
Very creatively reimagined. I like how different parts of the instrument were used in unuaual ways to execute the vbarious voices in the piece. Double reeds are so hard. Respect. (and here I am learning violin...) I keep looking for the disclaimer "No Bassoons were harmed in the making of this video".
When I saw the 1812 Oveture video in my choice column, I was intrigued by the name. I was blown away. These ladies are awesome! They are consummate musicians with talent, style, and humor. I am so glad I clicked on the thumbnail. I know this is dated, but I liked and subscribed anyway. I hope all you ladies are doing well.
I thought the William Tell overture on bassoon was good, but this is better, this is bloody wonderful, and you look like you're having so much fun. I love this, I really do. Thankyou girls.
Great ladies,. I needed that whimsy.I just watched trump be rude and mean and typically monstrous and stupid to insult some black female reporters. It was so disgusting and shameful that I need a day off now!
Which do I like best -- the delightful silliness, the impeccable timing, or the amazing musicianship? Yes.
I'd say, all, especially the silliness parts. Not as easy as it looks.
I could not even begin to guess! Great talent and humor all rolled into one...
Yes, indeed! I agree!
I'm with you folks!
kazoo and bassoon. my life is now complete
LOL!
Please keep doing what you do. You four are what the bassoon needs in order to survive in the 21st Century

Where's the hardart?
@@gordonschenck1672Same place as the horn.
Bolero never sounded so good, so haunting, mysterious and exotic, as here. If it wasn't written for bassoon, it should have been. Wonderful!
Bassoon is the hardest wind instrument to play and these ladies are fantastic.
Agreed on both points!
Amen to that!

Monday will be my 3rd bassoon lesson.

I love how they use parts of the bassoon as well as the full bassoon
The best thing to happen to bassooning since that second reed. Awesome! Wonderful! Love it!
As a snare drummer, this is adding fuel to the nightmare fire 🥲
Wow!! A lot of work went into this little performance! Thanks to all four of you for all the hard work that went into this!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
This totally cracked me-up! You ladies are quite hysterical
I liked your 1812 Overture but this one was so much fun I subscribed.
Well done! Love the creativity and choreography. Very impressive and a cool take on this piece!!
And very funny. I loved it! I love bassoon.
Just goes to prove that great music doesn't have to be, "stuffy"...This group makes me laugh

So much fun! So Joyful! AMAZING.
MORE GOOSEBUMPS!!! And my head was bouncing to the beat!!!
Me, an elementary music teacher: “BOOMWHACKERS.”
By far the best video so far. The music, the choreography, outfits & other amusing things that contribute to the whole.
That was just ..... stunning!
Thank you! This just gave me hope for the future of the human race!
Wonderful! Absolutely wonderful!
One of the hidden instruments in the orchestra, a very beautiful one
???

Love it. I'm going to tell all my Bassoon students to watch this!
The bassoon sounds so good without the bass or bell joint! Of course it sounds good with the bass and bell joints too.

Fabulous! Absolutely fabulous! Thank you so very much; you've made youtube and the world a slightly better place--no question about it.
Very creatively reimagined.

Quite entertaining just like the song itself. Outstanding performance I give you each a superior rating.
Such timelessness......... ❤ I'm a double reedmaker for various kinds of bagpipe chanters, and drones. (Boyd Reeds)

You all are the mellow tone that blows very good! 😊🎉
I played bassoon through high school and college. Played in a bassoon quartet but nothing like these ladies. Our piece was called 4 Bedposts.
What a great show. Thanks!
I surprised myself lonely clapping in front of your video. Brilliant! Another masterpiece to your collection. (Rite, fellowship...)
GREAT .. wonderful musicians
Why did I watch this? Why do I like it so much?
Yesn't
A: laudable curiosity
B: Excellent taste in music
This is a lot fun
Imaginative, good, and fun! Well done ladies!!
How the fun times when you’re having a good fly!
Brilliant! I give it a 10!!! ;-)
Amazing!
They are impossibly good!
Amazing rendition
Do the 'Masters' do school tours?
If not, they should!!!!
Duncanville ISD, hurry!!!
how fun can they be - this is great!
So many ways to play this instrument! Three cheers to the bocalist!
Loved it. Nicely transcribed. Wish Sol could have heard this, he would of been a big fan of this group.
Two reeds to bind them - the mightiest woodwind of them all.
This is amazing
This reminds me of the Muppets episode that covered this song. Fantastic.
That was... different. I like
I'm disappointed this doesn't get more views. Keep up the nice playing and humor!
Love it!
Different and very catchy! 😊 ❤ UK.
Awesomeness ❤❤
i love this!!!
INCREDIBLE!
All your eskrima training came in handy for this one.
Awesome. I wonder what those tubes are that the two ladies were banging?
Boomwackers
finally a video that treats bolero with the exact amount of reverence and gravity it deserves as the most boring goddamn piece in classical music
HAHAHAHA 😄
You need to see it danced to.
Delightful
Long way from K David Van Hoesen and George Goslee and Willard Elliot. Thank goodness. Keep going!!
Lovely 😍 🎉
this is camp 😂❤
I thought the William Tell overture on bassoon was good, but this is better, this is bloody wonderful, and you look like you're having so much fun. I love this, I really do. Thankyou girls.

Good in every way
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I LOVE THIS!
IT'S GOOD.

Neat ! :)
😍😍😍😍
👏
Aren't those kazoos? I often kazoo when I am blue 🔵
Those are indeed kazoos.
Wow! Twoset should react to this!
This sounds weirdly like the music from Microsoft's Age of Empires, but I suspect the arrowhead is on the other end of the line.
Just one comment on the umbrellas--synthesisa!
Interesting
BRAVA !
and LMAO !
👍👍👍👏👏👏🫶
Beautiful. Lovely. Talented. But…by the name, thought they were going to introduce fart noises into the overture. Clearly I’m too low brow.
😂😂
😂😂😂
These girls made a joke out of one of my fav pieces. Boooo
Bloody wonderful girls.
Great ladies,. I needed that whimsy.I just watched trump be rude and mean and typically monstrous and stupid to insult some black female reporters. It was so disgusting and shameful that I need a day off now!
IT'S GOOD.
