- Two pairs, two competitions, one set of finalists, the significance of today wasn’t lost on anyone here in Barcelona. As INEOS Britannia squared up to Alinghi Red Bull Racing and Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli took on American Magic it was clear that the road was narrowing ahead. As the first day of the semi finals, today could prove to be the first indication as to what lay ahead.
Today was a big day.

It was obvious who INEOS was gonna choose for the semi final. The Swiss were the less experienced team. The way it's shaping up, it'll be a final with INEOS and Prada Pirelli.

American magics cyclists dont seem to push as much power as the other teams , pushing down seems the way to go 🤔

I noticed the rounding marks in the background. Could you make an episode about them sometime? They are remotely controlled?
I don't know why everybody isn't talking more about the cyclors & the oil/power availability on American Magic. I think that the sail size is something of a red herring--noted not a bit by any of the commentators. Sure LRPP looked a click faster, but the Americans had a lead that they could have protected, if they could have only executed their manoeuvres. It seems the whole team has rallied around defending (denying) their achilles' heel, which is natural enough--so they'll talk about anything *but* oil/power--but that shouldn't keep us from talking about it. Talk about a fatal design flaw....

I am livid. Had the wrong sails up. We thought the wind would come up. If you look over and your competition has a larger jib and main you FREAKING PUT UP THE LARGER SAILS. What the hell is going on with this organization? Unforced errors. Just go home.

The choice by Ineos to take Alinghi in the semis is definitely going to hamper them relative to Luna Rossa & Patriot in terms of close tense match racing.
Ineos look imperious. Have the beating of LR and would put up a great fight in a 50:50 final
It seems the American tactic is to get a fast start and then block their opponent by matching each turn.

Yes, they already competed with them in the round robin. You can switch sails and foils but only with stuff you pre-selected since the start of the cup.

Totally agree …. Why would Goody be putting sails away …. After a race , leading to his fall ( and 5 broken ribs ). Leadership needs to be changed for American Cup Program.
