Hey Kari! Great review thanks! I was wondering if you could make a video for us about your annotations? How you write them? What is your process? What do you write down as notes? Would really love to hear your toughts on that topic!
I've only read The Secret History. My daughter (who's about the same age as you, & who you remind me a little of!) did not gel with The Goldfinch at all on her first read, but has since re-read it and liked it much more on her second read. I should read it because I love art and have a background in Art History, so would enjoy the Museum part especially! 🙂
With a background in art history, I think you'd really appreciate all the art references and the reverence given to art- you should definitely give it a shot!
Ooh very interesting! I read The Little Friend on a long plane journey to Australia and was not particularly impressed... I will definitely read the goldfinch and see if I like it any more
She really is!! Interesting that The Little Friend didn't meet the same level as TSH and TG for you... I'm looking forward to reading it and seeing what I make of it!
So last week I finished reading "The Goldfinch". I thought it was pretty good. Like you said how the painting is always in the background, which I thought was brilliant because it is also always in the back of your mind while reading. The writing itself wasn't as great as "The Secret History" (My opinion. Although I absolutely loved it), but still masterful writing from Donna Tartt. She writes books that get you obsessed with until you finish it, and then you are still thinking about it afterward. Now as for the film adaptation of the book, which I decided to watch after, it was the worst film I have ever seen. It was so disjointed, the dialogues were cut, scenes that highlight important parts were left out, locations which are a big part of the novel were there but barely, and the casting for the most part was terrible (just two actors I thought were good for the part), as well as the acting was terrible(Nicole Kidman - wow, really bad acting. And I usually like her acting). DO NOT WATCH THAT FILM!!! Stick with the book. Enjoy it savor it and look forward to reading her other works.
RE: Movie. Did you get the feeling that Theo and Boris were gay? I think it was a 'gangsta' kiss. I'm never watching the movie. Idk why Hollywood has to gaytize everything. I'm not a tart.

I'd be interested to hear how you compare The Little Friend and The Goldfinch once you get to it!
Great review. You deserve more views. Keep it up!
Thank you! ☺️
OMG i have to read this book!!!!
Yes!! Let me know what you think once you do! 💖
I thought the second half of this book was readily boring.
Donna is the🐐I also love The Secret History and The Goldfinch. The Little Friend was fine, but not at the same level for me.

I agree, I really didn't like The Little Friend as much as the other two either. But I hope that Donna Tartt will publish a new book soon!
