Girl, the main reason I keep my mister around is to keep me from obsessing over some small detail only I can see! Lol on occasions, he’s had to gently take me aside and tell me to take a break for a minute. You are not alone my friend!
I used to work in a bakery for a big store chain. I wanted to decorate cakes or bake but they stuck me with prep work, lame. But I would get to write on cakes for customers when the decorators were gone. We would take a small amount of parchment paper and roll it into a small cone, fill it with icing then nip the tip. We could hold the whole thing I. Our hand and control the pressure much better(like a henna cone). Much easier to write and make it flow with a small cone👍🏻
Don't worry it's unnoticeable! But i understand im also a perfectionist when it comes to my craft and I can't stop fixing the tiniest mistakes until i feel like everything is perfect
this is how i am when i do watercolor painting or calligraphy. i see every mistake but everyone else goes on and on how amazing it looks lol. i’ve started saying to myself “if someone else made this, what would you think about it” and it helps so much in seeing what everyone else’s sees instead of what i think are faults
Oh this is me. I do calligraphy too. I can make about 20 versions of the same design and then I come back 10 days later and realise that the ones I thought were bad were actually okay. I won’t even remember why I thought it was bad.
I can see why it looks off! No shade, ofc, nobody would notice unless they're actually looking for it like I am. On the right side. The "banner" connects to the side of the dollop, and it hangs a little higher than the banner on the left. It's still a gorgeous cake though!! Im not saying this to be hard on you, just hoping that it brings a little closure if you still couldn't see what was up ❤
This is beautiful!!! I have one tip to help (feel free to ignore if you don't want advice). Use the small piping bags for writing and don't overfill them. I can tell your hand placement here is too high and that you have too much in there. Less and smaller is better for writing. You will probably find it way easier on your hands too!
Omg, you are my spirit animal!!! I insist on fixing the smallest stuff and I end up making a bigger mess. When my husband hears “Let me just…”, he starts dragging me away from the cake.
I think you're doing a great job! Something else that could help us thinning your b/c consistency slightly, and holding your piping bag a lil further away from the cake to give you room to manipulate the line of frosting as it falls. I never perfected writing on cakes, but doing those things helped greatly...I just have crappy hand writing so 🤷♀️ 😁
As an artist, mimo we all criticize our own work. But sometimes I have to realize 99% of people won't notice, and its usually never the customer. I can only hope to get better.
Sometimes trying to fix little details like that, you end up making it worse. I did a small drawing with color of my friend, and the eyes looked fine but not good enough for me. So i trying to fix it, made them from good to bad. I ended up fixing a little bit better, but it never looked like they looked at the beginning. She didn't noticed but it still kills me 😂
Ok let me give you a tip just get the cookie cutter (a big one round) then mark around the cake it will give you a half circle through out the cake, then tadaaa their is your guide line to go, now just follow this half circle through out cake and makes ruffles.❤
Another tip for writing is wax paper! Type out what you need on regular printer paper mirror images, put wax paper over it, trace and freeze. Then once ready to go flip the wax paper wait a few and peel. It helps when alot of cakes are going out because you can make well in advance and just have it ot chilling till its ready to go with 20 others.
My biggest tip for writing on cakes is keeping the bag 100% vertical and moving your arm and body instead of your wrist. I taught a lot of decorators how to keep a steady hand and always keep the bag straight. It also makes it sooo much easier when the amount of buttercream in your bag is easy to handle. The round top of the bag (the thickest part of the bag) should easily fit in your palm. If it’s too big or you have too much buttercream, the strength you use to squeeze will cause you to be more shaky. Hope this helps, writing on cakes is my favorite part
This is incredibly random but I'm making myself a cake birthday hat and I FINALLY know what kind of frosting tip I want to use for my final touches thanks to this video 😭!
I don't know much about decorating, but maybe a use a flat quilt (?) I have no idea what you call it. The thing at the end of the frosting thing, that you use to write...does it have different tips? I flat one may make the writing look better.
Assalaimu alaikum!!!! I think we are all hyper critical of ourselves when it comes to doing anything creative like this! I am like this when I do henna. The person would say it looks good but in my mind I can definitely do better!!
I am a artist and I love to show my art but the thing about that is when I finally finish some art I did if there is a single flaw to the art it will bug me until I fix it then I find another flaw and it goes on and on until I finally except that no one else is gonna see it
It's visibly uneven, but who cares? It's perfectly fine for your own use or to give friends and and families. As long as you don't charge anyone money for it, then it's fine!
A lot of the time she’s just making a cake to show off her abilities for potential customers or content. Since she didn’t mention a customer in this video, I t’s likely that this cake was just for her family!!
@@notsuspicioususer4080 it doesn’t matter if the cake is was destined for the bin, you don’t promote your business looking like you know nothing about food safety.
lol ma’am, are you using a gift card to scrape off the icing? I think you should be more concerned with that instead of your poor letter piping skills.
This is why I leave fancy cakes to the professionals. The perfectionist in me cannot handle the details… I’m far too self-critical!
Real
I feel your pain! I hate the fact everything has to be perfect otherwise I suck and am the worst 😢
@@vickygruber6030 Same everything I do must be perfect but I am very very forgiving of others TwT
The beauty of a hand decorated cake is that you can see it's not done by a machine. It looks fabulous as ever, Mimo
I love that explanation. Beauty is in the imperfections. People don’t have symmetrical faces but we still find them beautiful. Same goes for cake. ❤

10/10, new writing technique is perfect

The artist’s struggle of imperfection 😂
I think this turned out beautiful ❤
Ngl i would have not seen it 😭 (i swear am a perfectionist i want everything perfect)
Ahhh! The joys of a perfectionist ❤
Damn I could never girl, well done
Wow so proud you did it looks fantastic btw love your videos you are an inspiration ❤
It’s the eye of the artist!
This cake turned out so beautiful! You are a fantastic baker!
Congratulations!
Can we discuss the credit card though? 😂🤣

I feel you.... As I was up until 2am finishing a cake because I just couldn't get the buttercream layer smooth and sharp! Ugh!

When you accomplish something hard but then the easy stuff went wrong. 💀 i love your cakes ❤️

"I didnt do that..." oh mimo ❤❤❤❤❤ lol! Its beautiful! You did GREAT!
I think this happens to most artists no matter the medium. People probably won't notice unless they REALLY look for imperfections
I do the same thing when I decorate cakes!!!😂
Yay toothpick method! Happy it worked out for you!
As a baker I get it. I always only see the faults in my work… almost never in other people’s though 🙈🙈
That buttercream and piping tip is so real 😭😭😭
so proud of u homie
Mistakes happening while trying a new idea is my pet peeve
That’s a beautiful cake!
Write it on parchment paper and freeze it, then just stick the letters on
Beautiful cake
Well as a bakers i understand that..i also have problem with detail in cake.. sometime i redo it last minute just because 1 smaller detail😂
ITS PERFECT THIS IS SUCH A SMART WAY TO WRITE ON THE CAKE!

Perfectionists whenever one thing goes right....
You can use a circular cookie cutter to mark the arcs around the cake and then pipe the ribbons on them.
Gorgeous

Lmfao she finally got piping down, so the cake was like "nah, heres another curve ball"😂
I do cakes too, and only a cake decorator would notice
Yup, definitely didn't notice until you showed us. 😅
Idk if its the same with calligraphy with icing, but it helps me with writing when i do it in faster strokes (but more prone to mistakes tho)
This is incredibly random but I'm making myself a cake birthday hat and I FINALLY know what kind of frosting tip I want to use for my final touches thanks to this video 😭!
Fabulous timing, my daughter has requested a cake with writing.
Im so bad at writing 😔
Yeahhh perfectionist will always be annoyed by the smallest thing
I'm one of them 💁🏻♀️
Looks lovely aa always
With all love, that piping reminds me of intestinal colon 😂

Wow i love the design of that cakw though and im sure most people wont care cause cake is cake 🤷♀️🍉
Oh i was scared for a minute when you only had a few hundred views. I thought the algorithm was attacking you until I realized this was just posted
For writing, piping gel is better or thinner btc. The piping tip can’t touch the cake, you are too close, you’ll be able to control the flow that way.
I hope that credit card was clean 😬
OK to be honest, I did notice at first, but not enough to wear. I would’ve said something.
Me doing my eyeliner
that is such a game changer omg
That’s the ghettoist way to remove buttercream using a gift card 😂
she’s supposed to follow OSHA guidelines or what. don’t know where that jawn has been 🤮
What is that you used to scrape off?
😂😂😂 i know the struggle
❤❤❤
Tbh i saw it from ur other vid and it made me feral
Congrats on the lettering
I would only notice because I have ocd, but I wouldn't be upset if someone made me a cake and it was like that, I'd just eat that piece first lol
This is giving me so much anxiety 😂😂😂😂

Classic professional behaviour: looks fine but not perfect. I never would have noticed. Instead I was admiring how pretty it all was.
even when you're pointing it out, i'm still not seeing it😭 what was it? what was off??😭
My ABCD could not comprehend that. 😅

Please tell me you sanitise that card!
im sure she does
i believe thats a cake scraper, its definitely washed very frequently
“What is that??!!!”
You sposed to use a gift card?
As long as it's sanitized, it doesn't matter. It's just plastic.
@@SS_DT yeah, i just thought bakers bought specific smoothing tools.
@@SS_DTyeah no.. u don't do that.
@@s.r6331 why you wanna cook and bake at home! 🤢
@@user-vi3jd7mm1k I don't understand your comment. She's running a business and if your making a cake for someone you use the tools not cards..
It looks so drastically uneven so I see why you kept staring at it.
Boost
I still don't get what you did 'wrong'?😂😂
I don’t Even notice it although you Said it twice don’t worry girl
Is feels uneven because the text isn't centered
Its meant to be eaten. Its okay
Its like fucking up mascara but if you try to fix it it becomes a complete shit show

Do the strokes separatly. Don't cross the lines, I mean
Take some cake decorating classes. You'll learn more techniques
Is the credit card food safe? C’mon - if you are selling cakes at least have pro tools.
First thing I thought!!
