Yeah during this time one ethnicity that looked east Asian enough could be swapped for another because they focused on common appearances and superficial aspects of culture, even if those groups never saw themselves as so related. A lot of the commentary focused on her soft spoken nature, looks, etc. which is something commonly associated with exoticizing asians, even if they are genuine qualities that the person might have.

Sadly, I had experience with something similar myself. I had just started to make a new friend once I got into 6th Grade (so, I was only around 13 at the time), and then one day he is killed in an accident with a stolen handgun. He was there one day, and the next, he was just gone. And what makes it even worse, to me, is knowing that the person who had the mishap with the stolen handgun was one of his friends (he had found the gun laying on the ground and was trying to unload it when it went off and shot my new friend in the head). And that's not even the only time, the second time happened a few years ago. The son and youngest child of my old babysitter (he was just 1 year younger than me) was driving home from the hospital when he likely suffered a seizure behind the wheel, resulting in a head-on collision that resulted in 3 deaths and 3 injuries. He was ejected from his vehicle despite wearing a seat belt, and he died of his injuries the following morning. The other two deaths were in the other vehicle....a mother & father with 4 children, the youngest 3 of which were all seriously injured in the crash as well. It breaks my heart thinking about how much of a nightmare it was for that oldest child to find out that all in one night, their parents were gone and all three of their siblings were seriously injured. And it also makes me angry, since the local news tried to make it sound like my old babysitter's son was high on drugs, and *that* was why he got into the crash, they tried to make him into the "bad guy" when what happened was nothing more than a tragic accident.
It breaks my heart Everytime I see stuff like this. I really miss Thuy. I bet if she were still here she would've been traveling all over the country for the fans. At the morphicons, and comic cons. She would've loved them. You're deeply missed by us all Thuy we love you R.I.P.
Would love to see her audition. She sounded badass. I love that everyone loves her because she seems like such a sweet and beautiful person. Hope you're resting in peace and know how much you've impacted everyone's lives ❤
She was best yellow ranger that did know how to fight, and do martial arts superwell! Every fan of the show will miss her as they miss and morn for the loss of a closefriend ‼I hope that at least she is in a much better place❕
I feel that Thuy should have been the voice of Mulan before she passed away. Sadly, I feel that it's such a shame that Disney never thought about her before to be part of the Disney family.
Thuy was the first crush I had when I was a kid. What the cast and crew in this video already said; Thuy was very kind, down to earth and very pretty. Her smile was truly one in a million. I was very sad when I heard she passed away and still miss her to this day :)
What an amazing interview featuring Skull and Bulk actors on their memories of Thuy. As a teenager growing up, wanted to see such documentaries to know of behind-the-scenes, so another evidence how internet brings content that may not be available in a 1990s shopping mall bookstore, etc.
Car Guy the pink ranger is such a basic white girl that everyone wants at a young age because we’re all programmed by the media to believe that the typical standard of beauty is being white. It’s ingrained in everyone. However, as you get older you should be able to leave that mindset and realise that Trini was 1000% better looking than Kimberly. No question!
Thuy’s not alone anymore. Jason David Frank who died over a week is reunited with her in heaven. They hugged with comfort & joy. Tommy’s a Power Ranger God and Trini’s a guardian angel to all the rangers that are alive today. May The Power Protect Them. 🟢💛🙏
The other boys in school didn't understand why she was my favorite of the original 5. "The Yellow Ranger? But that one's a girl!" they'd say. They didn't realize I had hit puberty earlier than them, and consequently I had the major hots for Trini. Plus I thought the saber-toothed tiger was the coolest zord (until Tommy's green Dragonzord arrived). It still hurts my heart that she's gone. I'm usually indifferent toward celebrities, but Thuy is one of the few I'll always grieve over.
#RIPThuyTrang. She will be missed. It was great hearing her former cast members talk about the impact she had on the show and on them. She's the greatest Yellow Ranger of all-time in my opinion.
I cant believe its been 20 years ago this year. Its been hard since Thuy Trang gone way too soon.I love their bonding on set and off set.Rest in Peace Thuy Trang.
That calm aura about her was always very striking to me. I had a crush on Kim like all boys my age, but I thought Trini would have been my best friend ever. I would very much have liked to meet Thuy while she was with us, and I hope the universe works in such a way that I'll get to say hello someday.
Thank u for posting this! She was amazingly beautiful & a very kind woman. I was very sad when I found out about her death very late in years later. She will always be remember as the original Yellow Ranger💛💛💛 RIP THUY
She will forever be the Yellow Ranger💛 in my eyes! She maybe gone too soon but in the time she had she helped put on a permanent smile on every 90s kid who think of Saturday Morning Cartoons! She was part of a ton of happy childhood memories! 👊🤟😇🙏💕
When I was a kid, I thought Amy Jo (Kimberly) was the most beautiful. Didn't really pay much attention, to Trini (Thuy). As an adult though, I'd say that that Thuy wasn't just the most beautiful women among the Rangers, she was one of the most beautiful women period. RIP Thuy
Hotobu not bull shit. I crushed on pink ranger when the show first came out, but now I’m also like wow, Trini was so beautiful too. It’s like what the blue ranger said, you look Back and you’re like wow, how the hell did I miss that? When you’re a kid, you like the girly girl. Maybe not the nerdy one. When you grow up stupid shit like girly girl isn’t so important anymore and you are like I’ll take the smarter taller just as beautiful yellow ranger and put her in pink 😂

Kimberly was my first ever crush on pretty much anything ... But also knew thay Trini was cute as well, and so lovely ... She was something else. Is such a tragedy that Thuy didn't had the chance to be part of this phenomenon that the Power Rangers are today ... I got the feeling she would have loved it and be part of it with joy the way some of the other original rangers are.
Thuy Trang seemed like a remarkable and incredible person I think if I ever would have had the privilege of meeting her I'd have fell in love with her as a person she seemed that genuine and that's rare with actors/actresses where I fell that and every single person from MMPR have confirmed what I've expected. R I P THUY. YOU ARE TRULY MISSED BY MANY MANY PEOPLE
Thank you Thuy Trang! For being the best original Yellow Ranger, I couldn't remember you more since I never watched the premiere of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers after I was born. But now I remembered watching that show when I was little, I'll never forget you.
I wish Thuy was still alive so we would've been able to hear her side of the story and many fans would've been able to meet her at comic cons but unfortunately that'll never happen RIP.
As long as there are Power Rangers in general, hope lives on! And as long as there are recordings of the original MMPR, and as long as there are future seasons of Power Rangers that continue to have actors who were/are influenced by the now numerous previous seasons actors and characters, then Thuy Trang's memory and influence will continue to live on!
I appreciate this beautiful recommendation, TH-cam. Takes me back to my childhood. Looking back, I was one of many that had a crush on the pink ranger, but seeing Thuy as an adult, I can see what a beautiful person she was, with a stunning personality. Time passes between the times I think about my time back then watching Power Rangers, but every time I remember her death, it makes me very sad. This video makes me want to rewatch a show I haven't seen since I was like 7-8 years old lol
I was devastated to find out that she passed those years ago. It's a loss for us all. She was such a wonderful person, and her career would have taken off to the stratosphere.
I was a teen but with two younger sisters that LOVED that damn show, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was a guilty pleasure of mine. And I loved both Amy Jo and Thuy. Huge crushes. And it was a body blow when I heard about Thuy's death because it happened just DAYS after Aaliyah had died in her plane crash. And then 9/11 happened just eight days later. It was a really tough stretch but it's nice to see how well she was/is still remembered. Gone way too soon. RIP.
I had such a crush on Billy as a young kid didn't even realize I or he was gay at the time. He was fucking perfect. Thuy Trang has one of the kindest smiles I have ever seen
I still remember watching the show when I was a little girl and I was so inspired and couldn’t take my eyes off the 📺 screen with the yellow ranger because I was so zoned in by her! I remember wanting to be like her. Amazing off and on screen. Years later NEVER forgotten! RIP Thuy 🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️
Thuy was extraordinary as the yellow ranger and she had like a very caring nature to her character that made me respect her and thought that she is meant to be a Power Ranger. I heard about her death like some years probably like in 05-07. It was sad to hear about that because she was very talented and would have go places and been in conventions with the fans and would have been shown how loved she is. Thuy it is sad you're no longer here with us, but you should know that the fans and your costars love you and dearly miss you. RIP Thuy Trang.
As a kid Thuy was one of my first crushes, and when I look at my family now I can draw a straight line back to that crush (my wife is Asian) . It was always about Zack and Trini for me. It broke me when we lost her, and I still think about her every time anything power ranger comes up. I wish she was still around. Even though I was a kid, and it was just a show, she did have a profound effect on many people. And in some ways still does. R.I.P Thuy Trang, the only TRUE yellow ranger. At least in my eyes
This girl was very beautiful and is pretty much universally loved whether you were a fan of the series or not. Taken before her time with too much light still left to shine on the world. RIP.

Well said bruh!
zero granger Well said I miss her too!
zero granger 👍🏿
It was such a huge shock to hear that she died in a single-vehicle auto accident, as Asian women are usually so well known for their driving skill.
yall don't miss her, ever knew her, or were even old enough to matter when she was on the show etc. Shut the fuck up.
What a legacy though…not just the Power Rangers but to have people speak so warmly and so fondly of you. After all those years. Thats a legacy.
May she rest in peace.
Would love to see her audition. She sounded badass. I love that everyone loves her because she seems like such a sweet and beautiful person. Hope you're resting in peace and know how much you've impacted everyone's lives ❤
Rip thuy you will be missed to those who know you you will always be the yellow ranger go yellow ranger go
Especially rhw guy who played Billy. He's the one that would complain about people if there were any
That's right Annie phan & you're adorable, beautiful, attractive, adorably cute.
We miss you Thuy! You'll always be Trini: The yellow power ranger to us.
Thuy Trang was one of the best rangers ever. She’s missed by her friends, family, fans too. I hope Thuy is resting peacefully.
How else would she rest? What a dumb comment

So sad her death was overshadowed on what happened the next day : Sept. 11, 2001
Well, if there was ever an event to overshadow someone's death, I would think that would qualify.
William Woelke No. No deaths takes precedence over another.
William Woelke man didn't even know that
William Woelke actually she died September 3rd 2001
I think he was referring to her funeral, which took place right on September 10th, 2001. Quite sad, and very shocking.
She was best yellow ranger that did know how to fight, and do martial arts superwell! Every fan of the show will miss her as they miss and morn for the loss of a closefriend ‼I hope that at least she is in a much better place❕
The greatest yellow ranger; now and forever.
to this day, my favorite female ranger and in my opinion... the greatest yellow ranger of all time.

I feel that Thuy should have been the voice of Mulan before she passed away. Sadly, I feel that it's such a shame that Disney never thought about her before to be part of the Disney family.
Really? As much as I loved Thuy, I thought Ming Na Wen did an excellent job as the voice of Mulan.
Yes, I know. I was stating that I personally think that she should've been cast as the voice of Mulan.
Also, she was awesome as Kali in "The Crow"
kryptonianpowers I want that Mulan Szechuan sauce morty
Oskar Agaronov The Crow: City of Angels actually.
Thuy was the first crush I had when I was a kid. What the cast and crew in this video already said; Thuy was very kind, down to earth and very pretty. Her smile was truly one in a million. I was very sad when I heard she passed away and still miss her to this day :)
Rip Trini. I watched you as a child. Thanks for the memories. Such a underrated actor. I hope you are in a better place.
What an amazing interview featuring Skull and Bulk actors on their memories of Thuy. As a teenager growing up, wanted to see such documentaries to know of behind-the-scenes, so another evidence how internet brings content that may not be available in a 1990s shopping mall bookstore, etc.
She was one of my first crush.
theimporter mine as well
yeah her and fifi la fume
Mine was the pink ranger
Car Guy the pink ranger is such a basic white girl that everyone wants at a young age because we’re all programmed by the media to believe that the typical standard of beauty is being white. It’s ingrained in everyone. However, as you get older you should be able to leave that mindset and realise that Trini was 1000% better looking than Kimberly. No question!
@@elijahoye8216 alright that's a bit rude to Amy Jo Johnson. They're both equally stunning.
Who everyone thinks of when we hear the Yellow Ranger.
Thuy’s not alone anymore. Jason David Frank who died over a week is reunited with her in heaven. They hugged with comfort & joy. Tommy’s a Power Ranger God and Trini’s a guardian angel to all the rangers that are alive today. May The Power Protect Them. 🟢💛🙏
Na she's in Heaven, she had an car accident. He's in hell for commiting suicide
Mark A. Houston You don't know anything loser, go troll your negativity somewhere else. AIYAHHHH!
Man this was so sad and sweet to hear the cast remember her.
"For various reasons she wasn't able to continue"
She asked for a decent fee and they fired her
According to Austin St. John they could’ve worked at McDonald’s and gotten the same pay.
Agree
They really were memorable. Always happy to hear their names in good light.
RIP Thuy Trang. You were my favorite power ranger when I was a child. ❤
#RIPThuyTrang. She will be missed. It was great hearing her former cast members talk about the impact she had on the show and on them. She's the greatest Yellow Ranger of all-time in my opinion.
I’m happy that Thuy is so loved. But I wish they had complemented her on her talents than how beautiful, soft spoken and often she smiled.
Wish more people were like her. Loving, never complained.
So pretty, soft spoken, and a real gentle soul. It always makes my heart ache to think of her death. Rest now sweet angel 💛👼💛
Whos here from 2019?
You tube algorithm at it again!

Doing its thing lol
Yup! :P
Yeah, right here
I’m from 2020
It's amazing to me how different Bulk&Skull are from their characters. Really nice and talented guys.
Trini was definitely my favorite ranger! Rest in peace Thuy!
RIP Thuy
Way to over exaggerate and lionize the dead for likes. Bullshit comment.
When you grow up stupid shit like girly girl isn’t so important anymore and you are like I’ll take the smarter taller just as beautiful yellow ranger and put her in pink 😂
somethingsomethingDarkSide you know how I think huh? Dumb ass...
Hotobu Way to be a DICK. Watashi wa no dicku head bullshitu desu.
somethingsomethingDarkSide That’s like me saying you like Hitler.
The “various reasons” she wasn’t able to continue is because she demanded more money and was fired.

Tragic. RIP, Thuy.
As a kid, I was Pink Ranger starstruck. Now, I fully appreciate her graceful stunning beauty. 💛
Thuy Trang just came off as kind and compassionate, I loved her character
It was really cool to hear about her audition, it's wholesome.
I met her when power rangers was on.. and she was so gentle and sweet and soft spoken. Breaks my heart..
A big thank you to that casting director for giving Thuy that push she needed at the audition
I wish Thuy was still alive so we would've been able to hear her side of the story and many fans would've been able to meet her at comic cons but unfortunately that'll never happen RIP.
Such a beautiful soul ...Definitely made my childhood that much better. May she rest in peace.
Hey guys dont look so Down... as long as there a Yellow Ranger the HOPE LIVES ON ! ^__-
As long as there are Power Rangers in general, hope lives on!
And as long as there are recordings of the original MMPR, and as long as there are future seasons of Power Rangers that continue to have actors who were/are influenced by the now numerous previous seasons actors and characters, then Thuy Trang's memory and influence will continue to live on!
Good one may u know a good Lite
I appreciate this beautiful recommendation, TH-cam. Takes me back to my childhood.
Looking back, I was one of many that had a crush on the pink ranger, but seeing Thuy as an adult, I can see what a beautiful person she was, with a stunning personality. Time passes between the times I think about my time back then watching Power Rangers, but every time I remember her death, it makes me very sad. This video makes me want to rewatch a show I haven't seen since I was like 7-8 years old lol
The love the original cast had for her was beautiful. I only wish we could have heard the actress for Kimberly as they were good friends on screen.
I was devastated to find out that she passed those years ago. It's a loss for us all. She was such a wonderful person, and her career would have taken off to the stratosphere.
Was she still an actress after quitting the Power Rangers?
Yeah, she was in Spy Hard and The Crow: City of Angels.
She must be in a better place right now even if she really should have had more years to be with us.
RIP.

Rest in Peace vietnamese sister
I had such a crush on Billy as a young kid didn't even realize I or he was gay at the time. He was fucking perfect. Thuy Trang has one of the kindest smiles I have ever seen
RIP Thuy. You'll always be one of the highlights of my childhood. Yellow Ranger forever!
Jason Narvy just seems like a chill dude. Would love to meet him at a Con
She'll always be the yellow ranger. No one can ever match her performance.
I look back and didn't realize how gorgeous she was. I was in love with the pink ranger. But now, I'm thinking yellow. RIP
My heart still aches knowing Thuy Trang was taken from the world!
I had no idea she passed away.. Currently 12am here and youtube just made me sad asf
This girl was very beautiful and is pretty much universally loved whether you were a fan of the series or not. Taken before her time with too much light still left to shine on the world. RIP.
We love you Thuy and us 90s kids will always remember you.
