Hey what if i delete the wall will the ball go down still because whenever i give anything rigid body it dont go down and i want to ask you something about animation if i am animating a character and it is walking on road but some times his legs go down beyond road so can i not collode the character with plane 😢 please tell me😊

Thank you so much for your tutorial. It kind of worked for me, but the ball rebounded off the wall instead passing through it. I'm using maya 2018 educational version. Also, it doesn't have bullet.bundle plug-in, I used bullet.mll and AbcBullet.mll . Not sure if it would replace bullet.bundle though. Do you have any idea why the ball rebounded off the wall? Did someone have the same experience? Help!! Thx!!

Hello I am trying to do just a wall crumbling down like in 4:05. Just that. A do everything the same as you but when I press play there is still a little "explosion" I am trying to simulate a building falling down due to an earthquake so no need for a projectile. What appears to be happening is that the collision shape margin is not working correctly even if I set it to 0.
Ok I found the problem. If I increase the edge jagginess in order to have smoother cuts then the models will be intersecting. Even if I change collision type to hull and the margin to 0 there is going to be a little explosion.
Hi, I am using Maya 2020 and trying to learn Bullet simulation with bullet plugin. How do I move the ball in a specific direction, not purely x/y/z-axis? I mean, I wanted to have an arbitrary direction for my bullet to hit the target. Is there a way to through a ball or bullet to a targeted direction either with initial velocity or with the initial keyframe, please? In simple rigidbody dynamics, I could use on/off dynamic state, but I cannot find that type of option in Bullet plugin. Maybe initial sleeping would do.....just curious. Many thanks

Then assigning real world structural specifications to the objects and realistically render how they would collide? Is that possible in Maya?
Nice tutorial. Do you know if there is away to re-shatter the pieces without assigning a new material(like blinn) to it? I should like to break some of the pieces into smaller pieces where the ball hits without a plugin or do the ugly workarond.
I like the video but the ball would move straight on the Z axis. It will move up before it hits the wall. I replayed the video but could not figure out what steps I am missing.

I have everything setup like your tutorial but the difference is the sphere (I am using a cube) is not using velocity and I have it constrained to the character. So basically there is a block attached to him (will be invisible) and when he is thrown against the pillar the block should react to the breakable part of the pillar and break but it does not. It seems like the velocity needs to be on the block in order for it to work but my character (and the block attached to him) is already animated with motion. Is there a way to make the sphere/cube react with the wall/pillar without adding velocity?

CORRECTION: Leave the Shatter 'Edge Jagginess' parameter set to zero. This seemed to fix it. You'd think Maya would have a proper, native Voronoi Shatter tool as part of its basic toolset by now. And one that retains active procedural history, like C4D does.

Hey, i made Broken house walls (still standing, but with some broken pieces i took out of it) i want to shatter the whole mesh (1 mesh) but it keeps giving me an error, i cleaned the mesh , deleted the history and togled Free Transform but still no luck ... Any idea why i can not shatter more complex meshes ? (Maya 2017)

it doesnt want to shatter by map... simple, if i select scatter and then shatter it do nothing and shows "// Error: line 6872: Target list was empty or contained no valid targets.". If i select mesh, it shatter it completely, no matter of map at scatter. Its now maya 2020..
TunnelvizionTV my plan was to texture it with knald and quixel and then import it to unity. i already came to the point where i can export the wanted mesh group but i think im gonna have problems with the UVs. bullet feels a bit unstable since i have to build my simulation new, every time to get the mesh group through deleting histoty. greetz from austria!

AH! Nevermind I found it. Just in case anyone is wondering: Under Rigid Body Properties, you have to change Body Type to Kinematic RigidBody.

maybe best to make an object to mimic the contact of the character and simply hide it visually but have it as a colliding object
