    I had a Warrior for years back when they first came out and road it everywhere - desert, mountains and dunes and never had one single problem with it. We even finally projected it and had Lone Star arms front and rear, shocks, and even had Noleen go through the engine (from 18hp stock to just over 29hp!) It was an incredible machine!

    I have the 05 Raptor 660 Special Edition. Bought it brand new and plan on passing it down to my son. One of the greatest ATV's of all time.

    @ATVTVCOM The trail is 30 seconds away from my home. There is 25 miles of trails around my town alone. A quarter of a tank is all i use every other day. I'd rather take my ATV out more often with my friends then go on a 150 mile journey once a year. (Though we still do that of course!)
    Fuel used on an ATV is never wasted :)
    Happy riding!

    woot woot! just got my 01 out of the shop had a 03 motor put in it. Awesome day for me, cant wait to go ride this week!!!

    Well, if the choice is the 660 or the 400 I'd choose the 400. But if it were between the Raptor 700 and the LTZ then it would be much closer. The LTZ is far more nimble and quick - especially around a track, but there's just something about a big bore single - lots of torque and pulling power - better for the dunes and the trails.

  • @xAccuracy1

    Just bought an 03 raptor 660 with a 686 big bore kit, full big gun exhaust etc...I love it, loads of power

  • @ATVTVCOM
    @ATVTVCOM  13 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    @MossyOakMax Tough decision. The choice would be harder (for me at least) if it were between the Raptor 700 and the KFX700.

  • @ATVTVCOM
    @ATVTVCOM  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    It all depends on what you want to do! The Raptor is a big bore torque machine and the YFZ a more high-strung racer. My only real sport use is the sand dunes and the desert trails so I put the Raptor 700 as my all-time favorite sport quad....

  • @doobyboy21
    @doobyboy21 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    I own a 2006 Raptor 700R I tried a 660 and what a difference in only 1 year ! And yes this 660 is tippy and tall ! And the first and second gear have to much torque ! The front end always wants to be in the air. I'm glad I ran out of money back in 2004 to buy the new fuel injected Raptor in 2006 ! On 10 i'd give this quad a 6...

  • @ATVTVCOM
    @ATVTVCOM  12 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Two completely different machines! It's like asking should I be a pilot or an engineer?

  • @ATVTVCOM
    @ATVTVCOM  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great question. Check with Warn and KFI and see if they make bolt on mounts for the Raptor 660.

  • @macgilliosa99
    @macgilliosa99 13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @ATVTVCOM i always see you preaching about the 700 raptors what makes them so much better

  • @ATVTVCOM
    @ATVTVCOM  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @yardknomeHD First, check the air pressure in the tires to make sure it is the same on the left and the right. That's the easiest. I bet that fixes it. If not, next stand in front of the ATV and look at the tires to see if the fronts are not aligned. You should be able to see one angled out more than the other. Next, see if the front brake is dragging or if a bearing is worn. Jack the front up and spin the wheels.

    @raptor700rblue If you'd looked at our channel or our website you would have noticed that we have all our 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and what we've tested so far in 2010 up. We don't have the opportunity to test every ATV every year. And we have cut back on the testing of sport quads. Just saying.

  • @sstroh08
    @sstroh08 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    personally if you like to ride the raptor in situations that it gets stuck in you ought to trade it in on a grizzly 700 or maybe a can am renegade or something like that, raptors are not very good mudders and are best destroying you buddies on the trails or something like that, but im not dissing you or anything if you want a winch on your quad good for you, but an analogy to that is like trying to pull a camper with a camaro

  • @ATVTVCOM
    @ATVTVCOM  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    While I may 'operate' an ATV website, this test was filmed in 2004. According to my calculations that's 9 (count 'em NINE!) years ago. (And so you know, we did film this test when it came out in 2004 NOT 2005 as the year-model says). And it is on an ATV that no longer is produced, so no Daniel, I don't remember.....or care ;-)

  • @ATVTVCOM
    @ATVTVCOM  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @broughsy Tough question. As the 660 has that big bore torque, the LTZ is fast and very responsive both in power and handling. Far better than the Raptor. Now if it was between the Raptor 700 and the LTZ it might be closer.....

  • @ATVTVCOM
    @ATVTVCOM  11 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The Banshee is an incredibly fun machine but the Raptor is much easier to ride in a wide variety of conditions due to its broad power-band 4-stroke engine.

  • @ATVTVCOM
    @ATVTVCOM  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Every one you listed are great quads and probably even more reliable than the Blaster !

  • @ATVTVCOM
    @ATVTVCOM  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @crazystufffff I think you missed my point(s): 1. I can't recommend an ATV to someone under 12 period! 2. I personally don't believe anyone without a valid driver's license should be legal to ride a quad anywhere - except private property.

  • @ATVTVCOM
    @ATVTVCOM  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Sandeep9201 OKay, look at the choke lever and see which way 'pulls' the cable. Pulling the cable with put the choke on.

  • @ATVTVCOM
    @ATVTVCOM  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @slayershayne Not sure of your question? Did you mean have fewer 'new' tests? The economy has hurt the ATV industry and because sales are so far down they has considerably less money to spend on advertising and even loaner units for the press.

  • @sladester2
    @sladester2 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    What do you think has more power? Predator 500 or this? Same year. I am considering getting one or the other, which do you think is the better quad?

  • @Sandeep9201
    @Sandeep9201 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @odom602 damn..... well the jetting was a issue... i owned it for 3 weeks and sold it to buy a 700.... i rode it for about 30 minutes going up and down a hill...the started to back fire as if the jets were off.... i installed new jets and still off then i cleaned the carb throughly and this went on for like 3 days of messing with the jets and its a dual carb so its so much more work.... i just hate carbs now i swear..... i now got a 700 and LTR450 and i love EFI totaly worth the money.

  • @ATVTVCOM
    @ATVTVCOM  13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @macgilliosa99 They were redesigned with more mass centralization, lower center of gravity, better running engine and better suspension. The 660 is a good machine. The 700 is a great machine!

  • @sstroh08
    @sstroh08 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @ATVTVCOM idk if i would agree on comparing the raptor 660 to a truck, if so it would have to be the ford lightning or the dodge viper truck or something like that that is crazy fast but can still take the turns very well

  • @sladester2
    @sladester2 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am deciding between this atv or a 05 Predator 500, which do you think has more overall power and which do you think is the overall better quad? For mostly trail and maybe a little dune.

  • @broughsy
    @broughsy 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ltz 400 or raptor 660 ? I mostly ride open fast trails, but occasionally I ride tight trails with a bit of mud. I have a warrior right now but I feel that I need a bigger bike.
    I want reliability , torque , good throttle response, and a good amount of speed.
    What do you think?

  • @jakethesnake121394

  • @2k1banshee350
    @2k1banshee350 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    the raptor was ALWAYS called the 660R. what was the R for? my educated guess is reverse, seeing as it was the 1st "high performance" quad with the feature. hey can i have your job?

  • @ATVTVCOM
    @ATVTVCOM  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    They wear out much faster than a 4-stroke. But the good news is that they are much easier and cheaper to rebuild.

    I can attest to the reliability, I have an 05 and I've had to replace a few parts now and then, but nothing more than a clutch, I even think It has the original spark plug come to think, lol

    What would you say is better, the new raptor 700rse or can am ds 450? Ive got a 660 now but looking to upgrade! Also, whats the best exhaust to fit to the 660?

  • @ATVTVCOM
    @ATVTVCOM  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @4realskater13 Yes, and it makes a big difference assuming you add the sag by installing better shocks. The newer 700s are still a superior package as they are designed with a tighter and lower mass and center of gravity.

    i've been riding a Honda 300ex for years and im thinking of getting a Raptor 700 or TRX 700xx which do u think i should get?

  • @ATVTVCOM
    @ATVTVCOM  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @DatMasta96 I understand completely. My thoughts are that the 700 were improved in so many areas (not just power) that they might be worth saving a little longer for. What's the price difference on Craig's List for a 700?

  • @crazystufffff
    @crazystufffff 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @ATVTVCOM You can recommend one...something like a YFM 90R would be a good start for an 11 Year old. 660 or banshee is out the question, way too much power for you! He only needs a licence to drive on road...he can drive any quad he wants off road

  • @ATVTVCOM
    @ATVTVCOM  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well, the LTZ is the same as your KFX (made by Suzuki!) so you know exactly what that ATV is so the Raptor would be something different.....But, the 660 is not one of the better big bore quads. If you could find a 700 you may park all your other machines ;-)

  • @Raptor660deep
    @Raptor660deep 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Where can I put a winch on my raptor 660? Just for when I get stuck but don't wont to weld it on the frame

  • @Deepsr
    @Deepsr 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Y0UNERD from what i've heard, no. It's simply too tall, and too narrow. The YFZ is built for track-style racing, so it'd be a much better bet. Although, the raptor is fun as hell to throw around like that though.

  • @PeterofAthlacca
    @PeterofAthlacca 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey I have a 200 blaster and I'm looking for more power and reverse, it's kinda between the Ltz 400 trx 400 or raptor 350/660. But I need reliability. I've sunk my blaster goin down the river D pulled her out and away she went... Which of these quads is the most reliable? Can't take the most? I like muddin and trail riding?:D

    @macgilliosa99 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm somewhat new to this, so forgive me if this is a dumb question, but would this raptor be to small for me? I'm 6'1 and 250 pounds. There is a 2004 660r for sale locally and I'm looking into possibly getting it, but I'm unsure if it would be the right size for me.

  • @ATVTVCOM

    @mrlonely199 Can't tell you how many miles to a tank as the mileage varies so much depending on the riding, but they get better mileage than the smaller 450Rs

  • @ATVTVCOM

    @colonblast420 My 'opinion' that a driver's license should be required has nothing to do with 'ass kickin', it has to do with maturity and judgement.

    @ATVTVCOM Budget mostly, but which out of those two?

  • @ATVTVCOM
    @ATVTVCOM  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @dirtboy1234561 It all depends on how you want to ride. And where you ride. They are at the opposite ends of the spectrum - high-strung two-stroke like a race car and a thumper more like a truck.

    It should be just fine - better than one of the newer 450Rs as they are smaller...

  • @ATVTVCOM
    @ATVTVCOM  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @chadsenters00 That's right. If I were out looking for a used ATV for sport riding and going to the sand dunes, I would pass on those and look for a Raptor 700.

  • @SharpStuff112
    @SharpStuff112 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    The raptor/warrior 350 would probably take the most reliable. I keep hearing about poeple z400s blowing up. Cant go wrong with the any of them realy though. I have a warrior and a 660r, I like the 660 better just because it a very comfortable sport atv. If your tall a warrior or 350 raptor will be a tight fit. but they are very very tough, My warrior fell of our trailer a while back onto the high way and it did all of 120 bucks in damage. And I was able to fix it myself in a day.

    • @ATVTVCOM
      @ATVTVCOM  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +GOPRO MX The 400EX is a good all-around sport quad. Very reliable. Not nearly as powerful as the others. The Raptor 660 is a good all-around sport quad but not nearly as well balanced or as powerful as the Raptor 700. The Predator is unreliable.
