She seemed pretty friendly for someone you don't know : - ) I guess Sand pit girls are always so nice though!
Marry her she can run a clutch such a rarity these days
To this day the most masterful restoration of a quad I have ever seen.
Wish i could show you the 99 yamaha warrior i did lol money pit. 84 mm piston with stroker +4 crank stage 2 cam roller rockers never seen them in a warrior .
@@forrestgoodwin5693put a clip up on your channel bud
Thank you so much!
@@MichaelSabo hey there mike love your Contant, what ramps are those on your truck? I would love to get those.
@@forrestgoodwin5693 that’s awesome brother! Can’t let the price tag stop you from a dream otherwise they never come to reality. I picked up a warrior with the same ambition, been in storage so long now I can’t even remember the year 😂 they’re very underrated quads I love hearing that another got restored somewhere. One of my favorite of Mikes vids is the 250r resto mod and getting to see all the built warriors he got to ride with
As a ASE certified Master Automotive Technician.. I have built alot of 4wheelers and I enjoy your channel, the decompress mechanism the button on the camshaft if it doesn't compress when the cam spends it will not "decompression " that button has to move freely and has to protrude out and not be Warn down worn down . I seen the aftermarket camshaft button are not better so I use the oem
Your girl kicked ass with the clutch release man
She really did do great
Mine wouldve stalled it several times before ultimately giving up
Sabo not sure if you’ll see this comment but I’ve had these type of issues on 4 stroke motors. Usual culprit is the one way starter clutch behind the rotor. After time it wears down and it’s not always in a good position to grab the flywheel to spin it via the starter. Just some insight. 🤙🏼
I love the 660 raptor I bought one new in 02 and road it for 6 years I sure did love it but I have been diagnosed with MDA and it started to get the best of me so I had to sell it I have always regretted getting rid of it expectantly now that I have a teenage son I wish I had just saved it for him great work on restoring it I would love to get one for him but I can't afford it right now
Sorry to hear that man - I hope things get better for you and you're able to share the passion with your son one day.
Thanks for that
I also hope you can show your son the we all enjoy and share
Bro that ass Dino assessment is sooooo spot on as an owner of a built 660 . I can relate 100% to the when it does start 😂😂😂
😂
You need a new starter clutch. Get an L&L complete kit. Did you remove the decompression pin from the cam?
Decomp pin is installed and in spec. I did some reading up and I think you might be right on the clutch. It doesn't slip but I hear they can still be the issue.
Nice transformation! Time to build a KTM 525 or an LTR 450!
I've been saying this for so long. Wish he did a LTR for the retro quadracer theme instead of a Z since LTR is a quadracer
LTR for sure, love to see it
KTM is around the corner, just on two wheels!
Mike, I've noticed this from watching you ride for a long time. You tend to blip the throttle a lot. By this I mean its on off on off on off. Part of being a better more consistent rider is learning to move with the terrain and keep a more constant and steady throttle. Kind of the same way you learn to drive a car. Give it a try the next time you go riding. Not to mention its better for the machine too.
Thats boring tho. Blipping the throttle is more fun. You dont buy these machines to drive like a sissy
Now I'm getting distracted by the blipping
False tho you need to use the throttle and blip it if your riding whoops it helps control the machine vs holding it steady like you say
Actually. . . . Youre supposed to keep it pinned wide open and regulate your speed with the clutch ❤
I noticed this to. Linear is key.
The starter clutch is a problem for many Raptors. The sprag itself could be worn or the flywheel boss is galled. I have rehabbed a few by sanding the boss if the gear wasn’t too hammered and it helped.
I think it would be fun to build a kfx 700 and stuff yamaha Vmax4- 800 2-stroke from a snowmobile in it. Currently I have built my daughter's Yamaha blaster it tops out around 70mph and will smoke a Polaris scrambler 400 2-stroke in a drag race for two high line pole lengths. Plus I have a yamaha raptor 770cc, yes it has a plus 3mm intake valves and plus 2mm exhaust valves plus many other features. Great videos, keep up the great work
just got myself a 2024 yfz 450r loving it!
I have the 2023 se version just got back from the dunes. Its a fun quad for sure.
I have a 22 450r se! Taking me a long time to get used to it!! Its hard to hang on to and gives me a heck of a workout and im not an office guy
Grats, shame that's the only true sport quad left.
Hey Mike, I love your videos I use them for building my blaster but I was wondering if you have any videos that include doing the seals on the motor as I can’t find one and the ones I have watched do not include them, please let me know and thank you for all the info you have provided!
My pops and I always had issues starting the Raptor 660R, bone stock. I looked on forums and a large number of people also had this issue
It seems like its hit or miss - some people never had problems even with mods, and then people like yourself, saying that even stock, it had issues. I think it was just a bad design from the gate :/
Replace the one-way starter clutch and the torque limiter gear and you should have your problem fixed throwing 24 volts at the starter isn't a long-term solution because you're just going to go through starters twice as fast at least so I had this problem with my LTR 450 I did everything I replaced batteries and this that starters everything else and it ended up being the one-way starter clutch or one-way bearing whatever you want to call it sometimes it can also be the torque limiter gear the gear that drives from the starter to the starter clutch sometimes that can start turning on itself both gears are supposed to be solid to each other but if you take a pair of pliers and hold one side and you're able to turn the other side then it's definitely failing but usually you can buy it in a kit comes with the gasket the one way starter bearing the torque limiter gear and that gives you everything to fix it
I will look into this - thank you for the info and tip
OK Mike, you better be careful of teaching a girl how to ride a quad. You just might create a monster!😅
I think it's too late man lol
Raptors are known for torque. Even the baby 350 and Warrior are torque monsters. 3rd gear anywhere, anytime and any speed from my experience. They just always power right through. I’ve never stalled one.
I watched you struggle with the squad. I was waiting for you to put out a video of you riding it. Awesome man love coming on here and seeing a notification that you put up a new video. 🤙🏻🤘🏻
Are you at the same place where you road the blaster
Yes - it's a great test loop
Finally!!! This video got me to buy a raptor and ive been working on er for a year now and shes almost finished!
Hell yea man, good luck with yours 👊
The 2 vintage title has me rolling😂
Nooooo you changed it 😭😭
What was it before? Runs great, sort of, sounds really 2vintage to me lmao
@@owensbama1923 It was "full throttle on the ASPCA raptor" all it was missing was the "very powerful" at the end 😂
@@CheechChong-zb2vtlmfaoo 😂😂😂
Haha but at least he still has the parentheses around (sort of) can't do a 2vintage title without ( ) around something 😂😂
Love love love your content. I am building a 660 and your videos are helping me plan out a hopefully trouble free build. For starters, I'm ordering the L&L starter clutch kit and making a brand new wiring harness to avoid that excitement! 😎
How can I ride at the Sabo Compound?
Hey Michael before you sell your raptor you should do a top quad series with all of your modified quads and see which quad is the top quad of 2024. That would be so bad ass to see.
Is it possible that the one way bearing has crapped out?
I see a lot of people suggesting this. It was new when I built the engine, but perhaps it's faulty.
What happened with the flooded Vette?
Keep at it Mike Sabo! Original subscriber here. Great work sir. 💯
Anyone know where he riding?
How much for the Raptor
can you pleaseeeeee build a sickkkkk yfz450, swing arms a arms big bore everything!
That white, green & black colorway is freaking sick! Thats an awesome quad, must be a blast to rip on trails or the track
It sure is!
Seen the video of you making that bike Michael (mad mechanic) sabo, great job keep up the good work in videos 💪💪💯💯👍👍🔥🔥
Thanks for watching the build videos man; glad you enjoyed!
WOOOO MORE RUNNING FOOTAGE looks great Mike thanks for the new content love seeing the raptor rip sad to see it go but its gonna go to good hands
Need more sarah content 😩
I personally dont think you need the tougher valve springs i think for trail riding and stuff you dont get to an rpm where valves wiuld have an issue i suggest keeping the piston and putting stock springs in
She will bump that subscription count, but it would be nice if she was already a rider, but We all started somewhere, some of us in the womb. That smile got ya by the... more fuel and parts or date night? Start sourcing a pink quad for quad wars girls included? Now you can have the best thumbnails on TH-cam HOT Woman in riding gear on your builds! Sold! No Channel is complete without a hottie in the background, or a parts hottie, reason I always order from the same place, those few words with them just brighten a guy's day. might save ya a few trips too, ha-ha all jokes aside I enjoy your content, but it can always get better, :) Attractive women bring big smiles, I better go huff some more gas starting to think I need a woman around. more fuel!
Been waiting to see this machine in action, watched the build series 3 times now. Awsome content yet again sabo 🤙
Glad you enjoyed it man! Thanks for watching the series THREE times!
No problem dude. Keep up the good work we appreciate it 🤘
Very nice build for raptor. They make great power and torque. But the starter issue is bad especially the one way bearing, the reverse gear is plastic on certain years. Me it's the riders position your high up unlike most quads. And there stubby they def need a + swing arm. Love your stuff and how picky you are.
The 660 is a big heavy beast for sure. They really don't love to start with the high comp piston and stage 2 cams. I've heard of guys using 660 Grizzly batteries and having success with it. Not sure if the battery compartment would need modified to fit a larger battery.
I've heard this too. Unfortionately, I did try this and it still has trouble turning over. What's nice though is that the bigger Grizzly battery does drop right into place!
@@MichaelSaboDang, of course it couldn't be that easy!
What is happening with the Corvette? MORE CORVETTE videos LESS bike videos please.
4:28 had me fooled for a second. Purdy lady randomly sitting in the middle of nowhere, not plausible haha.
Lmao!
Can you please answer my question. I'd like to know if them Full Flight arms are +2 or +3. I like the width and want to order them for myself but waiting to find out what size yours is
I know absolutely nothing about the new 700s but I wonder if the starter would fit and if it would make a difference or not but I'd imagine it probably won't fit a 660 Raptor
Hell yeah I thought this video would never come. That bike is a beast
Glad you like it man! Should have done this sooner
The reason putting 24 volts to it is making it start is with the higher voltage it's spinning the starter faster which compensates for the slippage of the starter clutch but eventually it'll just keep slipping more and more and more till it won't even turn over at all with the electric start
I've also heard that it makes a big difference if you use the clutch every time you start a Raptor 660 rather in gear or not it helps the one-way bearing in the starter last a lot longer I noticed the difference with my 660 when I started doing it and yes 660s had pretty good torque that's what I like about mine when I had it it seemed like you almost didn't even have to downshift I think it makes one of the easiest ATV to use to train people how to use a clutch I started out with my 9-year-old daughter learning how to use a clutch and she only stalled it once or twice and then she got the hang of it quick
Finally the bike i want to see in acción mike good build 👍👍👍👍
Thank you man, glad you like it!
That was cool. Mike just finds a chick in middle of nowhere. Lol she did pretty good.
It’s got to be something electrical or mechanical Michael. Since you put that 24 volt system on there you definitely shouldn’t be having that issue. Most of the time seeing that issue there’s either an electrical issue or your trying to compress liquid on the start whether it be a little gas, oil or coolant. If you didn’t want to get to involved in it you could always add a compressor release to get it turning over. I hope you get it figured out buddy it’s definitely a beautiful bike you built there.
Suspension seems way to stiff for a plush machine like a raptor. Also you know you’re datin the daughter of north jersey crime boss Tony soprano?
The raptor 660 starter clutches are still trash to this day, you can go buy a brand new one and they still grab and lock up like that. It’s a manufacturer problem they have yet to fix lol
@MichaelSabo my 400ex after you go bigger in cam size and get rid of the decompression mechanism it does the same thing where it like skips it feels like on startup feels like it’s got too much compression to start haha
I had to change my starter gearing and the fly wheel gear on my 03 Night train harley davidson
That's bad ass man I wish my ol lady liked to ride. I had a crazy 01 Blaster 220 I taught her how to ride on that. Then she plowed into some honeysuckle trees an it was the end of that lol
4:28 😂 the gf? Mine does the same when shes not riding
Lmao!
Laptop, podcast, read a book.... keeps a sharp eye out waiting me me to wipe out so she can spring into action and help
Hey Mike I love your content man keep up the amazing work, were is the next ltz video at??!
If I had the money I’d ship my warrior out to him I’d love to have a build done from him
Have you sold this already? If not, curious what you're asking
is there room for a compression release valve .. like the high comp big twins .. that should fix that issue... heck you might mentioned that I have a bad habit of commenting 15 times on the same vid when my first thought pops in my mind... old timers... if I dont say it now , ill forget lol
Is it just me or is that bike kinda gutless for what it is? Not necessarily gutless just don’t seem to have much top end
That's cool I didn't know they had 24 V starter kits for ATVs but does it still use the same starter ??
Maybe your decompression isn’t working correctly making it harder to start. Some hotcams deleted the decompression. I have a 660 with 11:1 and about same mods are your except my cam is stage 1 n I have no issues starting it
I don't know. My cams utilize the stock decompression system. I've check it for spec and function and even replaced it just because and it had no effect unfortunately.
The starting issue could be the starter. Mine has acted exactly like that. Once I replaced the starter motor it was fixed.
Ok I see you big dawg! Atta boy Sabo
What type of anti gravity battery is that? I want to put one in my 700 because I have weird starting issues and bad battery’s so I want one also can you run two battery’s easily like that? How does it work?
Fun bike when she starts for sure
Hell yea brotha!
Need to have a competition to name your skit character he looks like a frizzles to me
Love your videos just found you like 2months ago ❤ if u want a project to do on a 2005 Polaris predator 500 I will love to offer mines 💯 I like how you hook up your bikes wish you nothing but success 🫶🏽
Have 660r with hot cams stage 1 it sheared decompression pin off. kicked back maybe? It would not crank over without decompression working. Either bump start or sometimes would start with jumpers from a truck. Fixed decompression pin cranks fine.
Oh yeah Sabo on a Saturday. Cant start the weekend off any better. Thanks man
Thank YOU for watching 🤘
Had a case break on my rmz250 with stage 2 cams in it that was hard to kick over, my buddy rode it and didn't get the machine to TDC before kicking and she split. Never again, the gains weren't worth it
Gez, that sucks man!
I want to build a 4mil banshee, where do i start, what are the different kits, do i go ground up or start with a prebuilt
I wish i had the dough! Your a precise builder! That color is awesome also!! Like that build the best!
Looks like a great quad but I just dont care much for the 4 stroke sound….. I’ll stick with my 250r
My man,same here
Those whoops and the sand prob not the best place to ride not to get use to and or comfortable on a machine your not familiar with anyway
please get a Honda trx300ex and max it out and use it for quad wars because i never seen u fix/mod one out
Great build I have a 700 I want to go through. And fresh up
Seems like it was jetted for no spark arrestor. Seemed terribly fat at first but I guess you were goin easy on it at first.
Some of the starting issue could be the timing being slightly too advanced
Mike, I’ve noticed you are the shit!! Your video’s are way cool and not to mention you ride like a boss the raptor came out really nice and looks like it has tons of power
My man! Thank you as always for the love Andrew. I still have to do your Z400 seat!
Yes I will be sending you the info on Monday about the seat sorry about the delay thank you for your patience! And thank you for the awesome videos!!!!
@topnotchbarbertv9523 there's no rush man, just don't want you to think I forgot 🤘
I would absolutely LOVE to see a Kawasaki mojave build!
Where is this I would like to find more places to ride
Ill unalive a person of your choosing if you give me this bike good sir.
Is the decompressor functioning? That may the cause of the hard start
i have a raptor 660 to why went you take off you put the clutch all the way down again
My ass dyno needs calibrated. Hasn’t really been used properly in a few years.
Lovely stuff.. that piston and camshafts will most likely cause problems.
To this day my favorite quad! I have the similar mods with the same turning over issue on the compression stroke, I don’t have a decompression mech on mine though. Alot of the time I just have to use a jumpbox. Buts runs amazing. Your content is always on point! 🇺🇸💯🫡
Thank you for the love man! I'll still have to tinker with it - its got to be something making it struggle to turn over.
great vid. nice to see a chick on this channel!
My raptor 660 with a high compression piston does the same thing when I try to start it
When are you going to build a wr450 or 250 or maby even a raptor 700
Beautiful quad!!!
Thank you!
Before you sell that bike, you should enter one gncc race on that thing.
I have the same problem with my 700xx
Decompression problem on startup I reckon Micheal
Hey is that the older 700r dash I see on the front it looks like the older 700s had a lil digital dash if so how did you get it to work on the 660? That would be cool to have on a 660
Idk why but it felt faster on video when you took out the plug bro lol
Kick start will always be supieror in race bikes and quads
is it possible to just convert it to kickstart and electric start?
