Holocaust survivor Judy Lachman was born in Łódź, Poland in 1924. She survived the Piotrków and
Tomaszów Mazowiecki ghettos, and the Augsburg, Bergen-Belsen, Burgau, Dachau, Skarżysko-Kamienna, Tschenstochau-Pelzery, and Türkheim concentration camps. She was liberated by United States armed forces at Dachau.

How blessed you are to have such a remarkable Grandma. She was so kind & generous in the midst of such terrible hardship! I think G-d must have had His hand on her to keep her alive. I pray G-d’s sweetest blessings over you!!
She did a phenomenal job telling her story especially while battling illness. She was fierce, courageous and strong. To endure what she did yet able to continue her family’s line is amazing and a blessing. Thank you for sharing much love and prayers for the family. Rest in heavenly peace.
Mrs Lachman died two years later in May 1997 at the age of 72. What a strong and remarkable woman.
My dad died from kidney failure. It's a really difficult illness with so many side effects. We lost my sister unexpectedly, and his heart was just broken. He died less than a year later.
I really enjoyed this interview. She was crafty and fearless to survive the way she did.
Still so young, at 72. The toll the war took on their health.

What a lovely and honourable lady. This testimony is very humbling. So nice to see the pain in her eyes fade in the latter part of the video when she talks of her family. The world is privileged that you gave it more children and may your beautiful soul rest In peace.

My grandma was born in the same year, March 1924, in Michoacán. 😢 She didn't had a easy life, but the Lady Judy, was incredible. Rest in peace both.
She survived due to an innate sense of evil; her instincts told her when the Nazis were manipulating them and she had the confidence to go in another direction. Her children, grand-children, must be so very proud of this amazing woman. RIP Mrs. Lachman, thank you for your testimony.

Such a special strong girl,formed into a warrior to stay alive after so much horror and pain around this whole Deeds named Holocaust,I watch a lot of these,I have no connection to anyoneyet Im pulled to hear stories,but it gives me hope,it gives me a reason to not ever feel sorry for myself as well.I am so pleased to meet Judy and Al who supported her special ways of life lived after the end of the terror. her story..amazing,tragic,almost unbeleivable but I know it is,,has had much wonderful in it now too,I wish her and all her family love from a stranger here in Australia and bless you all so much X

I learned so much. Her dem 2:53:16 eanor at times reveals the awful memories she carries. Her memory is a blessing. May Her family & all who watch this continue to tell her story. After such atrocities she has such a kind, noble spirit. Hard work, education, family, love, caring for others. These character traits born of great suffering produced so much good in the world. Wow. Wonderful testimony from a sick woman. She is extremely courageous and quick-witted, able to be a good friend and all these and luck helped her. Oh to be born German and have this terrible legacy, and Ukrainians and Poles also behaved vilely. I am sure the British have had their ‘day’ too of shameful behaviour, but at this time in history we do not have such a terrible burden. I remember Rolf Mengele recounting challenging his father’s war record and could see his pain. So if one makes the wrong decisions it hurts one own descendants too. Humans should behave humanely always - but we won’t. At least not without a strong allegiance to God and the 10 Commandments as this lady so rightly says.

What a beautiful life did share us on earth...so honest and pure telling important pieces all should hear. What a legacy also and most important how we all could live in peace growing food not bombs.

Amazing! Mrs. Lachman's strength, attitude and Heart saved her from a horrible death, but it's a shame she had to go through Hell on Earth to live. Her family is unselfish and caring also. Satan probably has Hitler strapped to a chair, forced to watch the survivors throughout eternity. :) P.S.- GET a speaker- cheap computer speakers won't cut it.
This is several years old, so the equipment used was most likely the best available.

This is an oral history, the equivalent of an historical document, so all of the details and clarification need to be here for those who are conducting research, etc. Like at the beginning when she had to spell her maiden name in English, her second language. They were surely told ahead of time, though it is distracting, it's necessary.
Worse was when she started yawning 2/3rds of the way through!

I agree about the spelling bee. Enough already! Well, I’m so thankful I got to hear her testimony because I become much more thankful for every little thing we enjoy. Very thankful to hear her speak of her Messiah who definitely is coming back in the perfect time. I believe He came, but He was a suffering Messiah then and not recognized. Could His people have suffered what He Himself suffered at the hands of sinful men? Hated, humiliated, stripped of everything He had coming to this earth, His body beaten, torn up, pierced with nails. I believe He knew their agony and they knew His. 2:53:15

Interesting to hear her views but there are others, 2.25 she speaks her father being part of cartel, in other words a monopoetetive, free market, trade by one ethnic grouply, of the sale of factories for ten towns. She doesn't SAY that the factories were those of ethnic Poles but the running of any kind of anti-competitive, anti-free market, trading operation by one ethnic group of a much larger national ethnic group may well engender some animosity, this definitely happened in farm products and farmers decided that enough was enough, they formed a cooperative and cut out the middle man who was positioned "better than average", those middlemen kicked up one heck of fuss.
This was a wonderful testament to the strength of the human spirit despite the cruelty of man. Her story gave me a new appreciation of the Holocaust in such detail and in the strength of resisters.

It is necessary, an historical account, a ‘testimony’
This is an oral history. It follows a specific protocol which includes asking to spell things.
Its for documentation purposes. A lot of holocaust survivors are simply unaccounted for records wise due to the nazis destroying documentation at the end of the war. For some of them, theres practically no records of them even exsisting until after the war.
Do you realize she's one of the last survivors and they have her on tape? Of course they're going to ask her the spelling of everything for historical purposes. Later on they can find out exactly the names of all the places and people she spelled out. I'm surprised you didn't think of that

She’s trying to document clearly so these things will be recorded and never forgotten
You must have stopped listening before the interview got going. The only spelling was at the very beginning and this is true of all of the Shoah interviews. The purpose of the introduction is to get the backgrounds of the survivors documented.
They are doing that for historical documentation
I liked her, she was very gentle and asked the right questions.
Country borders change, town names change or are different in other languages/cultures, names get misspelled during immigration etc. The spelling is for clarification.
Another bad interviewer. Shows no sensitivity, more concerned about the spelling than anything else.
People keep complaining about the spelling of things but it is ever so important for documentation.
Why didn't you think of that? They have to get the spelling right? Because this is an important historical record and that they can know exactly the people and places of her story for history?! She's an actual real holocaust survivor that has been dead for almost 30 years now. There's hardly any left if any
