Thank you! If your computer is not showing the file extension like mine was, just open File Explorer: click on 'View' (at the top) - then click 'Show File Extension'. You will be able to see the extension. Also, .bak extension didn't get me my file. I tried two other extensions autosave (.sv$) and temporary (.ac$). Apparently, AutoCAD saves a backup in three formats. .ac$ worked for me!
What to do when working on a drawing and then when "saving" we get and error message saying that the drawing needs to be recovered? The Recover command doesn't work, when you have the drawing open. I want to save, but it won't let me. I don't want to exit without saving. The recover command doesn't work unless you exit the drawing? What to do?
Copy what you have in that drawing environment, open another drawing that works properly and then paste. Close the faulty drawing. Do a save as of the file you copied and you should be fine
@@Joshua_d_designer how to recover shortcut autocad file into cad file because by mistake I have copy main folder to my desktop as a shortcut folder....in evening when replace main folder drawing then my desktop folder drawing is automatic deleted also....so how recover these drawing...now I have only shortcut autocad file.....no backup also
