Walking WEALTHY NYC Suburb of Downtown Greenwich, CT (September 18, 2021)

- Greenwich, CT is the closest Connecticut suburb to New York City, and is also the wealthiest area of Connecticut's Gold Coast. I walk from the Metro-North stop at Greenwich through Greenwich Avenue, which is lined with luxury stores, restaurants, bars, and retail. It was my first time in Greenwich, and I thought it was a very great town to visit.

I love how you stop and interact with people. That's such a cool way to visit a neighborhood! :)
Glad you enjoyed it
the quality of this walk is just so awesome!
Beautiful walk and I loved how the little boy recognized you (his mom looked surprised) - so cute!
As someone from Greenwich, I am so happy someone actually pointed out us!
Downtown Greenwich, CT seems relaxing, and it's a nice area for a getaway. 🤗 Really enjoyed seeing the historical buildings and shops. 5:08 AK has a young viewer, so cute! 🤗 Thank you for sharing, AK! 😃
Wow this is a place we hear about a lot . Rarely really get 2 see . This is a treat 4 us. Very lovely
WOW really beautiful, classy and clean town, interesting thank you so much for take us there with you. Appreciated be safe and healthy AK! 👍😊🙏
I'm glad that you're doing Connecticut.
Very expensive state to live in. I moved out decades ago.
@@dianealbrecht496 Where To?
As a CT Native, it is so cool to see videos of you walking around here! Great video!
Downtown of Greenwich looks quite nice ! Beautiful buildings and nice neighborhood thank you for sharing A K 👍!!!
It's gorgeous
You should see the homes
We lived in Greenwich from 1954 to 1964. It was interesting to see how much has changed, and how much has not. I think your videos might be more interesting if you had someone with you who had lived in the town for a while, to answer some questions you asked and to give a little more perspective. For example, Greenwich Avenue used to have 2-way traffic but they also had parallel parking, so I'm sure at some point traffic got so bad that they added more parking by having the cars park at an angle and restricted traffic to one-way.
I found it striking that most of Greenwich Avenue has become a high-rent district: banks, jewelry stores, fancy clothing stores, expensive restaurants, and a surprising number of vacancies. Next to the "beautiful church" (St. Mary) is a Saks Fifth Avenue store; it replaced a grammar school (where 5 siblings and I attended school) and a convent. I didn't see any drug stores, ice cream shops, toy stores, or book stores. The giant complex called Pickwick Plaza looks like something out of Silicon Valley; it used to be the site of the Pickwick Arms Hotel. The "banks" on Mason Street used to be homes; I suspect that they now are for brokerages and private banking, not a place with cash and tellers.
One easy thing you could do is to mention when a town was founded. Greenwich has been there since 1640! If you are going to do a "city walk," you can go to Google Maps, switch to Satellite mode, and zoom in to Street View. Not only can you do a preview of your walk before you go, but you can also use the slider in the small view in the top left to see what that street view looked like in previous years. For Greenwich, the slider goes back to 2008. Not a lot changed in 13 years, but stores come and go, and you wouldn't have seen so much outdoor dining in the pre-pandemic years.
My words are less to describe this video,is worth a thousand words.
Awesome. Living in Port Chester, St. Moritz Bakery was a must for all of our birthday cakes.
What a lovely day for a walk! I like how they've kept the outdoor dining set ups at most of the restaurants, I do hope that's something we get to keep in the long-run.
It's a great setup and hope it stays
I was just there last week for the day . Wow thanks for the tip on train price . I drove from Nassau county Long Island , the Throgs Neck bridge and I-95 was crazy traffic but worth it . Beautiful, thank you . I ate at a Thai restaurant , amazing food .
Very cool!
Yay I love when you visit my state! Looking forward to watching
You're welcome!
Thank you for taking the time to do this. I'm trying to figure out the parking situation when picking up my friend from the Greenwich station.
Nice feeling to be recognized cuz you do great video work. Thanks for sharing...come to Sydney, Australia soon ! Stay safe always.
i would like to visit this place after the pandemic!
You'll have to mortgage your house for a visit there. Ultra wealthy
There will be no "after" as long as the media and the far left want to keep this going. They've even said it won't end. Just go now before they try to restrict any more freedom.
Factoid.... My great greaet great grandparents were one of the original founders of Greenwich.
Nice video. I’d love to see more videos in the suburbs, especially in Westchester and Fairfield counties
Poor AK, as if he isn't worn out enough doing blocks and blocks of NYC!! 🙃
@@barbarapettry6817 it’s just an idea, no need to get your panties all in a bunch. He doesn’t need to listen to me nor do I expect him to
@@Not_Sal "...panties all in a bunch." 🤣 ps I thought what You said was a good idea (suburbs vids, btw.)🙂
@@barbarapettry6817 I’m sorry, it’s the internet, I just expect everyone to be hostile towards me

Thank you for video showing! Great enjoyed walking.👍 Downtown Greenwich 👍💖
Thank you so much for making these videos, they're really great. Please make more videos of lower Westchester county, I am originally from NYC and thinking of moving back to NY state, specifically Westchester. I'd love to see what's going on there now!!! ❤️❤️❤️
He'd do better than a real estate agent vid!! 🙂
@@barbarapettry6817 He certainly would. 😊
@@KristinesTruth I'm a fan of Scarsdale, Waccabuc and Pound Ridge.. all in Westchester, Co. Hopefully, you'll get to visit .
@@jessedylan6162 Thanks! 😊
Maybe an idea for the future!
Hi Ken, wow!! i could almost smell the fresh $100 bills! as for the cars, oh my, what a different world, all jesting aside, looks a very desirable area to live, your other vlog with scarfing that ice cream, what an amazing juxtoposition of those beutiful grand homes just 100m from the main commercial area, nice one, go Ken
Awesome video. Beautiful. I miss home.
Super cool that people notice you! Well deserved! 😎
Yes, got a kick out of TrainKid!!! 🙂
Hey! Welcome back to CT!
I used to work in Greenwich for 12 years before I mo ed to Madrid Spain, Greenwich is the best town on earth
Wow... beautiful area . I could walk around there for days!
Cool place. Could you possibly do Newport, Rhode Island at some point?
Fun walk✨
It's a wonderful cityscape👍 Great job with this one💯
I subscribed😊
@@tokyodrivestorydashcam3712 Welcome, You'll have a blast here!!! 🙂
Greenwich and Action Kid. Two of my all time favorites.
Nice fancy town… thank you for the great walking tour ! Hope you explore more cities !
Miss this place
I hear Betteridge Jeweler's, is one fine establishment.
Thanks so much. Nice area
Beautiful city!
Wow beautiful and so busy street
Really cool video, thanks!!!
Such a pretty little town area.
I was born in Greenwich and went to school there through middle school. After college my boyfriend and I visited a lot of my favorite places from childhood while on a roadtrip moving South. He thought Greenwich looked like the Shire...I love that idea, but don't agree. 😋
The Plaza Restaurant opposite the train station serves basic but high quality meals especially the turkey platter special.
Great!
Back in the early 1990's I used to drive for a limo company in NYC , part of my job was to drive people from wall street to their homes in all tri state area and I have been to many many times to Greenwich. I always felt in love with the town.
Greenwich is attractive, partly because the annual income in the old Greenwich neighborhood averages $281,265 per household.
WOW!!!😲
Always take metro north up there. Beautiful town 🙂
Actionkid is known "here , there and everywhere " !
The Million Dollar Man, Ted Dibiase Sent Me Here. I'm loving the Views and the people, I'll sure have to take a gander there myself one of these days. Keep It Groovy, Indubitably.
Funny how that retail section of Greenwich looks so much like Port Chester... if you just ramp up the real estate values several thousand percent.
It does look similar in a way!
Greeenwich is a very quaint and beautiful town. I used to work there. And I loved to eat at the Station house pub. But the only thing is that you have to be pretty wealthy to live there. Basically millionaires live there.
The architecture reminds me of Mass Street in Lawrence, Kansas.
Que cidade linda! ❤
the building that is in front of the education office is not the town hall now it is in another where the high school was
I’ve lived in Fairfield my whole life and always thought Greenwich didn’t have a downtown, looks like I have some exploring to do, lol.
beautiful just beautiful thank you Action kid 🌹
Antemi Panarin of the New York Rangers lives in Greenwich CT
What a great idea: walking tours of different locations. Idea: For spread-out locations like Greenwich, is it affordable to hire a taxi for 20-30 mins. to drive you along some of the streets with mansions where the fabulously wealthy - who eat in all of those restaurants! - live?
Now that is a place I could live!
AK, you should do a walking tour of New Canaan sometime.
16:12 "Beautiful art sculpture"...and then 16:24 an actual living breathing beautiful art sculpture walks by and deafening silence...
very classy, but I like the "poor" neighborhoods better. I feel more at home ; )
Hi AK.Did you happen to visit Bryant Park ? Movie Nights are back !! Tonight is the last night I believe.
yasss awesome love it
Where are the Chinese Buffet...I hope I am not cheap(economical)😊
Just asking, and thank you for making this Informative video.
Muito bom seus vídeos , moro no brasil , e estou achando muito bom conhecer os estados unidos através de seus passeios.
What type of camera are you vlogging with? Thanks, like your videos!!
Very nice video. Are many art galleries a good sign for a city's centre or is it just to fill otherwise empty retail space?
Fun to watch 😺
I would have invited you for a drink had i known you'd be visiting my town.. Thanks for all of your great videos and kudos for all of the hard work you put into making your channel among the best .
I'll be back!
@@ActionKid That's what The Terminator said but , to date, he's a no show..lol
@@jessedylan6162 lol
Dont miss the most incredible exotic car brands in the world presence in Greenwich, one aafter one. Its the rarest and richest crazy fancy city in the world @@ActionKid
So much more beautiful than New York.
i think some of those rich folks, sitting at those upscale sidewalk cafes - didn't like you getting them in some of your video shots as you walked down the sidewalk-- i cloud be wrong, but i saw a couple reactions that made me think this
WTG A. K., nice tour. Just got back from traveling and I’m catching up with your videos. Hey, what camera were you using on this video ?
Be well, be safe.
I deliveredr a 0ackage to Madison , Connenucuit . I had the best apple pie there which surpass Jillian Apple pie in San Diego county.
Miss my blue plates!
Somewhere, The Mean Street Posse is out there
"Everyday somebody's gotta pay"
At about 8:38 music comes on and I just wondered, where did it come from? It stopped at 10:02.
There was copyrighted music playing in the area, so AK had to play his music to mask the other music. 🙂
@@HengMiao Thank You, I wasn't sure. 🙂
@@barbarapettry6817 You're welcome. 😀
Even the richest towns in America still have above ground power lines!
Right we need a mass solution to this 😂😂 I’m so over them
And you probably live in a poorer place with crappier infrastructure
Mine are below ground and my area is far from wealthy. It’s hard in the US since it’s so vast.
@@johnfrench6564 Greenwich isn't vast.
@@matthewhall1062 It's still very spread out compared to most of Europe
19:30 👍
Go get that Tesla Ak, you know you want to. Lol 🤩
He lives simply.
Very nice walk, the buildings looks expensive and many of them are beautyful! Thank’s! TC! 🖐
I was spotting Tesla cars, pretty much Tesla's driving around and in parkingspaces. Good thing👍
What is "The Decision Behind Calculation"?
Super wealthy area.
someone on another channel told me actionkid got mugged on livestream? sorry to hear that
You should visit Hartford
The upper crust of America
I would do the same thing if I had that kind of money, are you kidding me?
Really made me LOL! 😆
I wonder how they would fair against people in Monaco or the ones in the Middle East😄
Every other car is an Audi. 😁
I realize in the richest neighbourhoods the people complexion tend to change
what u mean
@@yourmomshouse0486 the rich neighborhoods for most part are above 90 % white with a sprinkle of asians. Which is exactly the opposite of poor neighborhoods
Lovely town.
rich towns=shallow hearts........poor towns=rich hearts
Your title says NYC but it’s in Connecticut 🙄
The surgical masks tell you everything you need to know about Greenwich.🤣🤣🤣
IWA SAMAZE DHOW FNEDLY THA THCILD WA SHOWTHA TBOY WASOFEDLY IN THA TOWN
Connecticut suburb*
Outdoor dinning in the street next to cars driving by is such a lazy design.
This street would be much better if it was car free, wide pedestrian sidewalks.
Pronounced weird but okay..
Greenwich; Green - which/witch
Is what I thought...
The way things are pronounced out in New England don't often match how they're spelled. Greenwich is pronounced gren-nitch. Another example is Massachusetts where the city of Concord is pronounced con-kerd and Peabody is pronounced pea-buh-dee.
Lunch for 2 $25.00+Tip and tax .
Mcmahon territory
The state of NY is still a part of New England
