If it wasn't for clearly modern sound mixing\mastering, I'd genuinely believe this song and music video were from the early 2000s. They perfectly nailed the atmosphere both in terms of the visuals and the song itself. Super edgy, but definitely more in a charming than laughable way. Gorgeous and even nostalgic to some extent. @@neil5679 well, Thornhill clearly got some inspiration from Deftones, and Arkangel in particular reminds me of their songs like Beauty School, Knife Party and a little bit of Entombed.
The progressive curve Thornhill is on is insane. Harnessing both diversity and consistency within your art is something that can't be taught. Deftones did it, and Thornhill are doing it just as well. The dark pool is an absolute masterpiece and it will always stay that way, but there only needs to be one dark pool. I cannot wait to see how their sound evolves from here. 🖤✌️

Jacob is literally an Instrument. Instrumentals don't hit the same with Thornhill because they miss his layers. After the album was released, I still hold this as the best the album has to offer
the drastic change of their sound compared to their previous album is huge and fast, Jacob's vocal range and versatality is next level.. soo excited for the new album!
Feels very inspired by mid 00's alternative/progressive metal. Really cool progression of your sound honestly, makes me excited for the full album to drop.
They've Completely flipped what you have in your head of their sound, and they've done it so well. The groove in this unreal, you can't help but move along with the song. Love it!
I really like this Atmosphere/Glam Metalcore vibe they doing right now. Fun fact: In 8 minutes of new music, we got one scream from Jacob. Metalcore isn't just about screams and breakdowns, Thornhill understands that :)
I love this mix of intensity. I am getting this deep and intense darkness & love. And their use of colours. Especially in the way the visuals captured it. And you can't ignore the Sin City & The Crow vibe they managed to capture. I find it very interesting and thrilling the direction Thornhill is headed with their sound. Very few bands out there that i am aware of sounds like this. However... Jacob's vocals are incredible, but i do think he is holding back a little.
So fucking good, but I hope they don't keep hiding Jacob's vocals in the mixing. I'm sure they have a sound and vision for each track, but dude is just too good on his own

Same! There are still some parts of Casanova that I'm not in love with but I definitely enjoy that song more now than on first listen. Super solid riffs and drums on that one and all the same here plus some enthralling ambiance. I'm definitely still down for more Thornhill. The one thing I'm still cautious on is Jacob's vocals. He was alright on the early releases, pretty solid on Butterfly, and fantastic on The Dark Pool but this shift is a little weird to me. I don't hate it, but it's not really my preference.
I like how much different both singles are, and any old fans tuning out are going to be missing out. I expect there to be stuff on the new album very different along with stuff that sounds like their old albums. Expanding is always a good and fresh thing 👍
It's great to see the Thornhill boys continue to evolve their sound with dark progressive and electronic tones. Production and visuals are honestly next level. Well done to everyone involved in making this!
