I think Las Vegas will look back and regret tearing down all the iconic locations that made the strip... only one of the icons left is Circus Circus....
The good old days, gone but not forgotten. Now they cater to the kids who think nothing of paying $20 for a beer while they're out clubbing. Far cry from the $3.95 prime rib and free drinks while you gamble at the bars.
The Mob treated guests better in the past than corporate employees do today. Even crime in the streets was lower when the real gangsters ran Vegas -- Words from those who have lived there longer than that historian or the news reporter put together.
Being from the UK ..I just HOPE AND PRAY thst they find someway of preserving that massive stained glass art deco arch that is there ( even though its 50s , 60s built) THAT is one of the outstanding features of the Tropicana and not seen anymore in vegas arcutechure .....its a survior of the past when most of the other vegas casinos ( apart from thier neon signs) were demolished back in the 90s ..i know vegas likes to improve and build anew and forget the past BUT these days there is a growing nostalgia now for casinos of the past so WHEN they demolish the trop i do hope they save some of the stuff that is historicaly relevant ....not sure if or what (if anything) they saved when they tore down the Riv a few yrs back ! Next on the chopping block will no doubt be circus circus at some point sadly
I first went to Vegas in the 90s. Sad to see how many casinos have vanished since them. Seems like the "Rat Pack" is becoming a long-lost distant memory...
Best eggs benedict ever, really spoiled me. Had to learn to make my own hollandaise sauce because I have never been satisfied at any in restaurant in 55 years.
That's 1 of the original casinos of Vegas the Tropicana, and they want to tear it down and replace it with a baseball stadium for the A's!!! That's BS!!! Go build your baseball stadium somewhere else!! Leave the Tropicana up and going!! The Tropicana is a golden gem!!!

I remember being in a las vegas hotel and this dumb bartender in monkey attire asking for my identification. I was not sitting anywhere near the bar and didn't ask for any drink, but he calls me over. The reason these places are closing is you don't show any respect. Be considerate of people and don't bother people relaxing on a couch not bothering or playing any of the games. I told everyone I knew not to go to that hotel anymore. They also told everyone they knew also. That is how you lose business. screw all these bastards.

Worked there 11 years it was great experience
Tropicana was and is my favorite and i am so sorry to see it go. 😢
One less reason to go there now. There are so many.
All the greats are gone, so sad!!!
Life moves on to different things and evolves
Been to Vegas since the 1980s but only visited the casino 3 times. How sad another part of old Vegas will be gone.
I really appreciate all the thumbs up, on comments about Vegas. Good people smart people 👍🏼👍🏼😊. You all have a great future 🙏🏼 and have fun always.
This is a great segment.👏👏👏
The end of an era

The casino Royale opened in 1992, all the rest all new. But you have downtown. Some of the old ones are still standing.
And the real oldest flamingo, she is the oldest and still flapping her wings. Then you have Cesar’s Harrahs.
Can't forget about the Excalibur, it's technically considered a part of old Vegas even though it opened in 1990
Geri Mcgee, former Tropicana showgirl was the TRUE depiction of Sharon Stone's character 'Ginger' in the movie "Casino."

The 'Trooicana' was said to have been actress Elizabeth Taylor's FAVORITE Las Vegas Hotel.
Yeah, and that is because she filmed her Showgirl movie there in or around 1970.
Sad day

Will they be able to save any of the beautiful glass dome ceiling?
They probably will at the museum.
Thank you for sharing.😅

I've been wondering the same thing about that beautiful stained glass ceiling
👍🏼yes, unbelievable old art work.
There are plans to add parts of it to the new stadium and the neon museum. It could be sold to a private owner too.
You better hope and pray,You don't lose your country to the third world filth. Forget about it, it's too late.
@@whoknows2054 what are you talking about, 👌🤔. You are really on it. I’m out.

Was this the place where they filmed scenes for the 1971 James Bond movie DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER?
I'm pretty sure that was "The Hilton" which is now "The West Gate". In the film it was labeled "The Whilte Hall" I think.
The "Follies" WHAT?
Been goin to Vegas over 20 years, Im done now, not just because of The Trop just because its changed sooo much 👎

Yeah a weird pronunciation

capitalism breeds innovation... or destruction?
Both. It breeds life out of the fields too. Have a try, you can still go back to it.
