What a blessing to still be alive at age 99 to be able to meet her biological mother, and she looks good for her age, even in a wheelchair.

Makes you wonder how often this actually happens. Sept 73, the nurses brought me a 10lb baby boy to breastfeed. I had delivered a 7 lb girl.

Yikes! I feared something like that when I gave birth to my 1st son. Fortunately he had a deep cleft in his chin, which helped me recognize him. 😊

Happened to me back in 1970. Another woman and I both gave birth to a baby boy. The rest of the babies were girls. The nurse comes in and hands me the other baby boy. When I tried to nurse him is when I noticed it was a different baby. I called the nurse back and told her of the mistake. She told me it wasn’t the first time someone was handed the wrong baby.

@@cherimontana6868 Thankfully they put leg-bands with moms name on babies right after they are born now, also some hospitals put little alarm bands on babies if people try to take them out of the hospital. A woman was caught trying to take a baby with one and arrested.

Amazing, the one athletic child in a non-athletic family, and her birth family were all very athletic! Genes are intriguing, what they can do.

How sad that the one woman never knew her birth mother, but I think these women have great attitudes (probably after some agony and acceptance at first) and have the view that they now have 2 families.

They are lucky to find that each family were good loving people. I;'ve seen other stories of babies switch at brith where there wasn't a happy ending.

  • @Juliemorgana

I often wonder if the best solution after discovering the truth about being switched is just to consider BOTH families your family. You'd have bonds with the family that raised you, so how do you deal with it? I'd like to see updates a year later after the truth comes out.

Funny you say that because I just saw I think Good morning America with Diane Sawyer where two fifty six year olds found out they were switched at birth and that’s exactly what they did! The whole blended family was on the show.

What an amazing story and this almost happened to my daughter with my husband's co workers daughter. Both his wife and I came to the hospital at the same exact time. They had a scheduled c-section , and my baby just decided to come that day...or luckily the next morning.
Both of our family's have the same surname and both girls were born within hours of each other. The thing that saved this mishap from happening was that our daughter was born in the early hours of the day after the other family had their daughter. We didn't know that this nearly happened until we met with the other couple to let the girls meet each other, when they told us how they were almost given our daughter until one nurse yelled...there are two baby girls with that surname. The funny part and almost one of the craziest parts was that the other couple almost named their daughter the same first name as ours!!! Our daughters name is the other family's grandfather's 1st name. So essentially...my daughter's name is exactly the other family's patriarchs full name!!!! We only live within miles of each other too.
I have a picture from when the girls were about 3 yrs old and from the back, you could have never told them apart!

D T Did anyone check both their DNA; to see if these children are perhaps cousins, whose families might have lost contact down through the years?

    • @313girl5
      @313girl5 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@bonitahobbs2097 No, we never did that. However, when my daughter and their daughter was about 5 yrs. old we went to their home to see each other again. When the girls were both standing with their backs to us, they looked the same! Hair length, color, texture...it was crazy. I've lost touch with them. My husband did do his DNA and this man ( though he may have never tested ) has never shown up.
But, you are correct, they may be of some relation. Long story short another crazy story. A woman who I used to talk to before picking our children up from school everyday, come to find out her husband which they lived one street over from us was my husband's third cousin. We never knew. A friend one day, as we say there at the school, said isn't it funny how your daughter and her son have the same last name and it's spelled the same way? ( this surname can be spelled about 7 different ways ) We both looked at each other, the lady and I, and after this we started questioning family members as to maybe if we're related. Luckily my father-in-law who was born in 1915, was still around at that time and there was one relative that they mentioned that sure enough was a relation to my husband's family. So here we were one street over from each other and third cousins. We're still friends and talk today.
      It's a small, small world.

The day after my daughter had her son, while I was there, a hospital aid tried to give her the wrong child. We refused to accept the wrong child and the aid said this is your baby. We asked that this aid never touch our baby again.

She is a natural blond and tans, also athletic, none of the rest of us is anything like this. She doesn't look like any of us. I never thought about her being switched. She regained the mother now but it's not the same because she loved the one that raised her she has to get to know the real mother now. Sad just saying LOL
