🌸Often overlooked, Persicaria is very easy to grow: we love it and please don't confuse it with Japanese knotweed 🌸

Thank you for making your video really enjoyed it. I live in the United States in West Palm Beach Florida. I’ll have to see what will grow in my area in zone 10. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. I’d also like to know where you got those containers that you had your student standing in front of where it looks like they’re probably pot up Seedlings would love to get one for my students. I teach as Sustainable Gardening class the first Saturday every month for the county. We mostly grow edibles with pollinators hosting plants. Have a beautiful day. God bless you and thank you again.

Hello @sansomspressurecleaningpoo9519 - thank you for watching our video and for your lovely comment 💚Persicaria affinis could well grow ok in zone 10 as it doesn't need as much watering as the larger persicarias - Here is a link for the potting trays, they are Tierra Garden GP48 TidyTray One Piece Potting Tray at amzn.to/48IEsiq which is from our affiliate link for Amazon - we may get a commission if qualifying but it will not affect the price you pay if you choose to go through our link, the trays are most useful! Very interested to hear about your teaching - it's great to see enthusiasm from the students although cake and chatting is also very much part of our sessions! Have a great rest of the week All the best Melanie and John 🌸

Lovely video about one of my favourite group of plants. LOVE Persicaria …all of them! Keep adding in a new one. But I have found that ‘Purple Fantasy’ can ber wrecked by frost when the new leaves are coming out, so I have to throw some fleece over if frost is forecast in early April.

Hi Hilshils - yes we've noticed that and also we now have 2 golden retrievers who seem to like playing on the affinis hmmmm - but it does come back very well! Hopefully no more frost now fingers crossed Have a great rest of the week All the best Melanie 🌸

Hello - in 2020 I started to creat a woodland garden and I was given some Persicaria "Painter's Palette" which I was thrilled to get - the variegation is so pretty. But this spring, I noticed all around the ground where the plants were is covered in babies - up to 1.5 meters! The plant's other name is "Jumpseed" - !!! Now I am worried about it invading large swathes of the garden - in one area that's especially affected, I was hoping to create a colony of Astilbes. Can plants like Astilbes, Ferns and Hostas grow along with, and through, Persicaria or must I weed up all these babies? I now realize I should have cut the flowers off to prevent the self-seeding (I just moved the mother plants to an area where they can take over).

Hello Claire - thank you for watching our video and for your question 🙂 it is best to hoe up all the seedlings and then you can plant out: Persicaria can be vigourous - Enjoy the rest of your weekend All the best Melanie 🌸
