34:14 calling a character “innocent” and “childlike” right before describing their body in a sexual way always rubs me the wrong way
It literally made gag when I heard that 😖

Me too. That's when I know it's time to stop reading.
@@KariMari1 thank you!
The Captain Holt "Strong, female woman, heavy breasts" quote is totally on point for that character. He's a gay cop working undercover as a straight man and has ZERO idea of how straight men talk about women.
So that quote is actually perfectly accurate.
Yep, he’s making up what he thinks straight guys say. The other great one is about thigh gaps because “nothing is more attractive than the clear lack of a p3n!s.” 😂
I absolutely love Holt trying to pretend he's straight when he's undercover, he comes out with some classic lines. 😂

In class I once read a text (I dont remember where from) and it was about a young teenage girl - this is what was written "my period was 2 hours late!" ... Yes the author was male.
For anyone confused, we usually calculate our periods being x DAYS late, its not like a scheduled time LMAO.
You mean it doesn't start at exactly 2pm every month?? _Gasp_
Joking aside that's such a dumb quote lmao

My boss asked me why I was bringing in so many feminine hygiene products, and so many DIFFERENT types of them. I said because the company doesn't provide the women with menstrual solutions or anything besides tissue paper . He just kept staring at me waiting for me to further explain....... so I said 'I think its a major problem that can be solved with minimal effort. I pick up a variety box of tampons & another variety pack of sanitary napkins.' He said 'Yeah, but why though? They can bring their own, they know they're on their periods soooooo....' when I tried to explain to him that it can start at anytime, anywhere, without warning.....he looked like i said my ovaries could become explosives capable of nuclear destruction. 'They've had their periods their entire lives so if they don't know when its time that's just stupidity and laziness🤔 I said you've had you're genitalia your entire life so you should have known when your balls dropped and more recently when your dick stopped working and shriveled up. HR wasn't really on his side after she realized he was questioning me about why I needed so many period products, she was even less so when he agreed that indeed he thought women should be more in control of their bodily functions😂 I did get a write up but he got humbled by me and the HR lady. He's 60yo btw with an ex wife, a daughter, and a granddaughter.
"i pierced her womb" not only is that a dumb line, but any woman who has had her cervix jabbed will tell you that that's an easy way to get yourself punched
by her boobs like the writing excerpt later in the video
My favourite line from the world's worst porn author Rocky Flintstone: "He grabbed her cervix". No, Rocky, no he fucking didn't.
“Pierced her womb” made me think of uterine perforation, which is a medical emergency and not at all fun or sexy
1.2% of women are capable of cervix orgasms but the vast majority of those women don't actually like them and prefer non-cervix orgasms. The line feels like a dude who wants to find a woman into that exact thing but refuses to accept that almost nobody is into it. (And even if someone IS into it: you discuss that first! You communicate your boundaries and what you want! FFS this writer is an idiot.)
I don't think someone's, yknow, is even long enough to pierce the womb

I have to wonder if the kind of people that describe anyone like that have perhaps confused a human being with a piece of fruit.
As someone who has vaginismus, I’m so touched by that author’s note, and I have so much respect for the male author actually bringing awareness to it. I basically had to learn the hard way that I have this condition, and seriously, *it fucking sucks.* Not only does it make intimacy very awkward and painful, I can’t even use tampons and getting a simple exam is very anxiety-inducing. I had laparoscopic surgery last year and my surgeon actually gave me an exam while I was under because my vaginismus makes it impossible for it to happen while I’m conscious because of how painful it is. It’s embarrassing and it makes you feel like you’re broken. Meghan Trainor actually talked about this on her podcast once and people made fun of her for it, but I just felt so relieved that someone in the public eye was talking about it! (Also, getting extremely drunk does nothing for the pain. That gyno should honestly have their license yanked for a suggestion like that, holy hell.) Kudos on that author for bringing awareness to this condition because it really isn’t talked about enough at all, despite the fact that it’s actually pretty common. It can feel really lonely. I have no clue what that book is about or if it’s even a genre i like, but I’m tempted to read it because I’ve never read any story that has a character with this condition.
I love the books and can recommend the series! It's a fantasy novel for adults - something between Lord of the rings and Game of thrones in case of adult stuff. It has many great characters that you can empathise with, magic system is unique and every chapter ends in a way that you can't wait to read the next one! At least that's what it was for me! The series has five books in total.

As someone with vaginismus, it’s super refreshing to hear it talked about openly! I’m not shy about having it for that same reason. I was really lucky to have a great gynecologist and physical therapist. My gyno skipped my pelvic exam last year with the goal of trying it again this year, and I honestly feel super confident in my ability to handle it after my experience in physical therapy! It’s a frustrating and painful condition, but also treatable. I have always wondered what happened to girls in the past with it, though. It’s super depressing to think a lot of them were probably just forced to grit their teeth through the pain.
Ok lowkey may be a personal ass question but like is it ok if I ask how you knew
@@msepiphqny No, no, it’s okay! Basically I grew up in a very old-timey town with very bad sex ed, and there were a lot of signs I missed during my teenage years that were super obvious in retrospect. Like, I couldn’t get a tampon in at all, and I literally thought my hymen was blocking it. My first pelvic exam was so painful my legs were shaking, and I thought it was just cause I was nervous. I ended up finding out when I tried to be intimate for the first time at 20. It wouldn’t go in, and trying to force it was so painful it felt like I was being stabbed into. I ended up calling my gyno after that, which lead to her referring me to a pelvic floor therapist where I was officially diagnosed.
I was recently diagnosed, told to go home and touch myself, and when I said I’d never had sex and didn’t want to, they said I have mental issues. My therapist disagrees. I mentioned what the pt and obgyn said and the hospital deleted the files off my account. I have screenshots though. So I’m just dealing with it as I have been for decades. 🎉
@@yoshiyajoshuakiryu3198 That’s actually super awful!! Pressuring you into doing anything you don’t feel okay with is completely counterproductive to handling this condition and takes control away from you, especially when you can work on your muscles without directly touching them. If you feel comfortable with it, I would recommend trying yoga that focuses on the pelvic floor. It’s what helped me the most when I first started my treatment.
I had vaginismus start because of an abusive partner. I would get super tense whenever he was near. Luckily, the solution was simple and easy for me. I just got a different partner! 😜

Another thing people need to remember is, just because your body reacts to sexual violence it doesn't mean you like it. Your body is designed to react to sexual touch that is just part of being human. It is not your fault, you have no control of it.
Yeah like saying if you tickle someone aggressively and they laugh… they must like it. Even though it’s literally a natural response.
@@SweetforSAnd consent is important even with tickling.
I remember having a baby sitter that kept tickling me and my siblings even though we told her constantly to stop. My mom caught me and my brother plotting to knock out, tie up, and tickle torture that baby sitter in revenge.
Mom never hired her ever again.
@@stephaniet1389 yeah it’s extremely annoying when ppl just force it on you. Like don’t touch me. I won’t even let you hug me without consent so tickle torture is out of the question.
Yeah and your reaction to consent vs non consent is actually different both on the outside(physical) and inside(mental). People who are abusers are the ones who like to pretend sexual trauma isn't a thing when it very much is.
It’s also (very likely) a highly-evolved defense mechanism. Considering how badly harmed (even from strictly physical standpoint) a woman’s body is when p*netrated without the arousal mechanism to (for lack of better terms) “support” the process -we’re talking severe soft tissue trauma. Arousal nonconcordance is a known reflex believed to have evolved in women especially to at least partially protect them from this kind of physical trauma.
How about switching it up every chapter? In one chapter it's the nose, in another it's the chin, another an elbow, or a knee. But never, the bööbs.

The book reviewed by Tahani Al-Jamil is satire - it's a joke in the final season of The Good Place in which a complete trash pile of a human writes a book he'd always meant to write in life, and that's the result. Tahani is a fictional character in that show.

According to the wiki, the main female protagonist was described as The "type of girl you couldn't take in all at once or you'd die. You had to take her in bit by bit, like a great work of art, like the Louvre. Her brown eyes were as brown as the brownest crayon. She had legs like Jessica Rabbit from that movie. As a guy I have a girl that I always send my writings to whenever I write a female character in a story or dnd dialog (really I send most of my writing to her but whatever).
She lets me know if I'm being cringe or not.
That works but another solution is to just look things up. Authors do it all the time.
@@AIHumanEquality Looking up facts is good for sure, but it's harder to look up the tone, or to catch the "male gaze". So probably still a good idea to let someone else read it first. (As long as it's not used as an all clear since obviously not all women find the same things cringe.)

What's sad? That was a FEMALE gynecologist suggesting her patient get drunk!! 🤯 I would definitely be changing doctors.
That made me want to punch something. I know someone who suffers from vaginismus and the way she was treated by some people was infuriating. The way it was explained to me was that it's like muscle memory gone horribly wrong. It can be treated but it's difficult and requires any partner with whom the sufferer has been or wants to be intimate to be patient and supportive. "Getting really drunk," wouldn't help in the slightest unless the person was SO drunk they were physically unable to tense up inside and I'm unsure if that's even possible, not even getting started on whether that person would be capable of giving consent in such a state.
Not all women are the same, just like all men aren't the same 😅

@@n0va_starrNo, it’s Brandon Sanderson! He was born in 1975 actually, but he’s very up to date with social issues. He also writes amazing female characters - legitimate people with desires and complex morality.
The first one is from Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson. Sanderson is currently one of if not the most successful fantasy authors of his time often praised for his accurate and realistic depictions of female characters. The reason this book sounds strange is because he is writing in character. The in universe narrator of this book is a bloke called Hoid and he is batshit crazy. Would totally recommend the book though it's one of my favorites.
You know, the more of this I watch, the more I wish it had been a collab video with OT or with Jamie. It would've been _hillarious!_
All three together
I worked with a woman who insisted that all women, deep down have an r-fantasy. We just all shook our heads (there were about 30 of us) and said "nope, not me." I was telling the truth so I'm going to give the others the respect that they were, too. We asked her "who are these women?"
There have been studies where women self-reported a bunch of sexual fantasies and kinks and rape fantasies and role play involving it have always been pretty far up there. Though in both cases it's always fantasy or make believe roleplay, never the actual thing. Chances are the woman you worked with has that "idea" as a result of untreated trauma from sexual assault. Something like that can lead to some really bad coping and that can be part of it. And SA is still way too common for women so the chances are sadly pretty high.
When I meet un man who insist that all women has rape fantasy deep down. I insist in return that he must have rape gay fantasy too, after all we are all human. XD
Statistically, a portion of women with severe anxiety who come from extremely strict religious backgrounds develop one. Basically, psychologists have found that since they want sex - which is perfectly natural, hormones are a thing - but their upbringing shames them for wanting sex and depicts wanting it as unacceptable, the only way they can imagine having sex and not being shamed for it is rape. This does not mean that they actually want it to happen in real life. It means that due to anxiety and abusive backgrounds, they have a thought beyond their control. So to answer your question of who are these women: women impacted by sexism, misogyny, hatred of women's sexuality, and psychologically abusive homes. It grosses me out, too, but instead of judging these women, we need to treat them with kindness. The world failed that and we as a society need to do better.
@@RAHelllordDoesn't have to have anything to do with bad personal experiences. Lots of people have pretty out there fantasies ; the point is it's a fantasy, that doesn't mean you secretly want to be assaulted nor that you ever were.
A fantasy means you control the script. You control every detail of what happens, and make it fit your own tastes. Obviously that’s the opposite of what happens in real life.
Some have suggested calling them “ravishment” fantasies. It technically means the same thing, but connotes erotica rather than true crime. It’s a critical distinction.
9:00 To anyone who doesn't know, this is a fake book! It's taken from a show called "The Good Place" and essentially the person who wrote in the show was a massive piece of poo. The Book is essentially a self insert
Yesssss came here to say the same. Out of context that really was a genius parody though right??
I’m thankful that others know the show and pointed this out. I hate the thought of people going round thinking this is a real book (though there are some stinkers out there)
@@clairefulno, the book is serious. That book is exactly how the writer thinks in the show, he’s not writing a parody or joke book.
@@PansyPops Yeah as soon as i saw Tahani i knew that book was gonna pop up, Chip was a real moron, and the way they wrote the book fits this sub perfectly,
I just watched this too. Gave me an existential crisis at the end.
I think the point of rape fantasies is mostly the fantasy of being forced into sexual stuff that you secretly actually want, without having to feel guilty or ashamed for being slutty, because in this scenario, you did not choose it, but were forced.
Especially for AFAB people, actively wanting sex or kinky stuff, even in a fantasy in your head, is still very much stigmatized and associated with (slut)shame and negative feelings by their surroundings...
Which does not mean, that anyone wants to be actually raped.
Even an exact reenactment with a trusted partner following the script exactly is probably still something almost no one wants to have, because then you would have to very specifically ask for all that you would have liked done...
Yeah, playing 'stranger in the dark' with your trusted S.O. is the absolute opposite side of the coin from the other. They might seem vaguely similar, but only if your not really looking. 😬😢
Exactly. Nobody wants to enact these fantaisies with a weirdo they never spoke to 😢 Only with someone you trust!
I prefer to stay completely in my head with that kind of stuff. Even if I had a partner I trusted, there are still some very specific micro kinks I would feel extremely vulnerable to share and explain...
the first c is the most important letter in the acronym
I know there's probably a multitude of steps to the equation, but to these people, I can only say, "Seriously, just own the hell up to it! You like sex!".
So the point click made at 7:36 is actually really helpful to people that have had a thought before and thought they were "sick" for even thinking it. There was a study conducted once that I think it was around 70% of adults of every sexuality have had a "rape" fantasy in their life but it was concluded that the very high majority of them never wanted to be raped in real life and it could still be considered "consensual" because as a fantasy they want it to happen in whatever circumstance they were thinking of unlike real life rape where the victim is in no way consensual and forced against their will. I know as a csa survivor I had a thought about it before and when I was attacked so I thought it was my fault. It was not. It never was. No one wants to be raped and it is NEVER your fault.
Thanks so much for the unexpected vaginismus education! It's so unheard of that I had to fight autocorrect about it lol. Half the people (including actual gynecologists) I talk to about it think I'm making it up.
I hate when medical professionals do that.
Half the time it's bc they just don't wanna do their jobs. Or they tell you you have to do something else before they actually address the real problem and then repeat 200 times before actually half listening to you
I've had a lump between my jaw and ear for about a year and a half now, occasionally has electrical pain sensations

14:13 As someone who has given birth naturally, it absolutely was NOT pleasurable. I wanted to be given an epidural, but couldn't because my kid wanted OUT. It was some of the most excruciating pain I've ever experienced. I know there's a small chance some people with uteruses experience their zenith during labor, but most don't. To say it feels good is a wild take.
Literally NO ONE, aside from delusional male authors, thinks giving birth is pleasurable
Its not wild take... Its actually gross...
Men sexualising women pein is very gross indeed
also weirdly sexualizing the baby as well
I'd imagine even when it happens it's not a good thing, like, it's not like having a good point pressured is enough to overwrite the pain of BIRTHING A CHILD
My unmedicated labor felt like the worst stomach flu cramps x10000 (like eating the entire Taco Bell menu, eating a box of ex lax, while having the worst constipation of a lifetime) needless to say, there were zero good physical feelings
Edit to add- birth is called the ring of fire for a very good reason
So the author of _Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone_ , Benjamin Stevenson, is actually an Australian comedian. His _Everyone_ series is very self aware as the protagonist is an author who writes about the murders mysteries that he's been caught up in, and he constantly breaks the fourth wall. I'm reading the sequel, _Everyone on This Train is A Suspect_ , atm and there's one scene in which he comments on how everyone is surprisingly still alive, and as he mentions each one there's a note after their name that's just "(not dead)". Same lol@@RainbowFlowerCrow
That first one!! I was so excited! It's Tress by Brandon Sanderson and that whole opening is literally meant to make fun of men writing women 🤣🤣🤣 or describing women 👀 Tress is a super awesome character and a wonderful book! She is strong, intelligent, resourceful, interesting and willing to ask for help when needed. She isn't one of those ridiculous female characters we see today that are forced to do everything themselves to be considered a 'strong' woman.
Edit: Also, the quirky intro is due to the book's inspiration. After watching The Princess Bride together, the author's wife, Emily, asked, "What if Buttercup had went to rescue Wesley instead of giving up?" So this book is basically answering that question in the context of a completely new fantasy world.
As a man writing a psychological drama with a female protagonist, I will be taking notes on what not to do here.
Main thing is, women aren't endlessly fascinated by / turned on by their own bodies. Avoid that
All you need is one note: Write them like normal people. It’s not that hard.
There are really not much differences in writing male, female or characters in between, imo. Arcane from Riot is a prime example of that. They all have drive, dreams and motivations. Gender has nothing to do with it.
my personal advice is to think about characters as a person without specific gender, write their character, hobbys etc. and then add the gender. it helped me a lot some time ago
@@noyoudidnot3513ironically, I felt like gender played a big role in why the characters were greatly written. Schnee made a great series of analyses about Arcane on his TH-cam channel, also on the writing of female characters in the series, just in case you're interested. It's really good.
For anyone suffering from vaginismus - get yourself in to see a PELVIC FLOOR PHYSICAL THERAPIST.
If you have to be referred by a doctor, advocate for yourself and tell them that you want a pelvic floor physical therapist.
My therapist was the first person to totally get it and understand what all the muscles were doing, and helped me through it.
If you're not able to see a doctor, get yourself a body safe silicone dilator set and start with the very smallest.
I also had a gynecologist to give me stupid advice like "maybe you were SA'd" and "get on top". Even a crappy doctor should be able to refer you to a physical therapist if you ask
And if they fight you on it, ask them to chart that they denied your request.
Mine was 💯 related to the fact that in two marriages, I was both times being abused. The mind has a very strong ability to cause your body to realize something you’re experiencing is unacceptable. This is not to say that other people don’t have other reasons, but I would suggest that if sex becomes very painful, check in with yourself to make sure you’re not being horribly mentally/emotionally abused by your partner too.
@@shewho333 and now get the doctors to understand the difference between not being in love and THIS!
Doctors who think they already know everything are nuts, can't make the shit up that comes out of such interactions
I hear stories like this and it makes me wonder how these doctors are allowed in American medical settings. Acting like that and so unprofessionally, would get you at minimum audited for conduct in like every other developed country.
Kudos for giving specific and helpful advice. I don't have this issue, but it did seem like someone needed to actual talk about what you can do in less vague terms because sometimes (often times) you need to tell the doctor how to do their job.
9:50 I started laughing when the Click started telling his male version of "she breastily boobed..." 😆😆😆
Click's English is so good, it's easy to forget he's Swedish - until he runs into one of our language's oddities like "gunwales" 😂 (pronounced as "gunnels") - then later we meet "quays" ("keys"), which to be fair often confuses Americans too.
I live in Pennsylvania and there a town named Versailles. It is pronounced ver-sales. It hurts my soul.
@@kayleescruggs6888Heheheh. Or the Maryland town of Havre de Grace, which locals pronounce “habberdy grace”! 😂
You also know that someone is from Maryland if they know to pronounce the town Bowie as “boo-ee” (outsiders always say “bow-ee” like the musician), or that Thames Street in Baltimore rhymes with “James” and not “hems”. :P
19:43 - Apparently its not uncommon... I think there's at least two or three cases of Quentin Tarantino doing it, and apparently one of the animators for Fairly Odd Parents has a muscle fetish, which accounts for all the times that Timmy or the people around him suddenly become SWOLE.
The "Power Girl's Boob Hole" one is even worse when you consider it's a retcon, and the original reason she left it open was purely because she just liked the style and made it clear she wore it because she wanted to, and she was perfectly confident in her appearance and had no intention of changing it to fit someone else's idea of modesty.
But we all know Comic Book Writers really hate actually strong and independent female characters and only like psychopathic girl bosses.
Even that is a retcon. The very first version, it just happened and never got commented on. The first retcon was trying to justify it decades later as she didnt start with a boob window. Which WAS done for the male gaze.
@@willrmmerhunter Though her original costume basically had a very large cleavage instead. Like, to the point where you'd expect her mahonkabadorkers to flop out every time she moves.
My favorite justification for it is that it draws enemies attention away from her hands and face making it more likely to be distracted during combat and make it less easy to identify her. It's similar to the skull on the center of the punisher in which it's painted on the thickest part of body armor to draw gunfire away from things like his arms and head.
It's just a stupid as every other reason but that one at least has good justification. But her having it there because she likes it is a good justification as well because, and here's a secret for all you men out there, sometimes women just want to look nice and it has absolutely nothing to do with how men look at them.
Indeed.
I think it's silly that there's so many people who assume that whenever someone is trying to improve their looks, they must be doing it to attract the opposite gender, instead of just wanting to be more comfortable with their appearance.
@willrmmerhunter despite female gaze exists

7:50 Thank you so much for addressing this. So many people (Twitter) wanna hate on others who have certain ravage fantasies even if the one fantasising is on the recieving end. Those fantasies are often used as a coping mechanism as a way for said person to take their power back from whatever trauma they might have endured. That doesn't mean they actually want that stuff to happen to them for real. A fantasy is held within a safe environment. The other is not.
THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS!!!!!!!
👍Often, recreating traumatic experiences and practicing taking back one's power can be _very_ therapeutic. Saying "no" and having it respected can help you build power over one's trauma and rewrite the damaged neural pathways.
In ravashment fantasies, the power is still with the bottom, so very, very different!
I do similar stuff but not at that extreme. Like I couldn’t stand people touching my neck because of someone and now it doesn’t bother me after “practice”
I have a friend (abuse/sexual abuse victim) who has ""nonconsensual"" fantasies, because not having to put sex into thoughts keeps them from feeling anxious about it. They'd rather just let something happen than have to actively think or do anything.
...so yeah, even ignoring the fact that it's consensual, it's unfair to villainize consensual nonconsent because it's a legit coping mechanism for some people
@@drtavernerone step further, sometimes it just feels good to just indulge in the trauma you suffered, and just letting it wash over.

Absolutely got whiplash by seeing the first few paragraphs of a book from my favorite author as the FIRST bit of this video. While not one of my all-time favorite books by him, I did enjoy the fact that the plot was a “role-reversal” of the generic Damsel In Distress story. (Namely, the girl’s love interest gets kidnapped and the girl goes out, kicks ass, and saves her pathetic boyfriend while learning how to kill people in various f-ed up ways).
I have vaginismus and it is soooo important for people to know about its existence and the fact that its nothing serious or weird or really rare. Most of my life I thought I was broken because of it since my friends never had any problems. I felt so alone and thought that something was horribly wrong with me, that is until I watched S*x Education and Lily was diagnosed with it. It opened my eyes, and I'm so grateful that they talked about this stuff, and now to see that it's on here and in a book makes me feel happy, spreading is so important and I love that it's talked about more and more

13:11 I've seen a LOT of tumblr fanfics better than these. How do these authors get PUBLISHED???
The worst sin of the one at 13:16 is the complete lack of punctuation
That bit about fantasy vs reality is very important.
I used to date a girl who confessed to me that she was excited about the fantasy of R*** and worried that it made her strange or screwed up. I told her the same thing Click said. There's nothing wrong with having fantasies. I myself used to have fantasies when I was a little girl about adult funtime stuff being done to me by one of my best friends mom.
It's just fantasy. I know full well that if it had actually happened I would probably be mentally scarred and emotionally damaged from such a thing happening.
As long as you understand fantasy is fantasy and it's appealing because you can control it. Even if part of the fantasy is you have no control you are still the director of the movie in your head and it goes the way you want it.
That’s so important to point out. You have control in a fantasy. Which is why *safe* role play and kink is so, so important. There are so many people claiming to be “doms” and using kink as an excuse to take advantage of and abuse other people.
@@lilscenechick1995To add onto that, i've heard from several people that for BDSM play and similar things, the Sub is really the one in control. They have the right to stop it at any moment and they are just merely relinquishing that control
It's why fetishes exist but still treat it as problematic by society even when people safely express it in fiction
@@darienb1127 very true. I'm not into hard bdsm stuff with the whips and leather suits but i occasionally like to be restrained and held down. I like a little bit of roughness. But every good dom and sub partners have complete trust in one another and the safeword system means that the sub can enact their fantasy of being taken against their will and get that fantasy of losing control but also know that the second they say the safeword (mine is cookie dough), _everything_ immediately stops. The dom takes off all restraints and anything else and they go immediately to the aftercare where you both discuss what just happened. Talk about the good stuff, the bad stuff, the emotions you felt. What was too much, what was too little, etc.
So that just like in the fantasy the one who has the fantasy of losing all control doesn't actually lose any control at all. They can indulge in the fantasy of being forced while safely knowing that at _their whim_ they can stop the fantasy.
I'm so glad you get it. The amount of times I've seen a horrible adult female on young boy sexual abuse cases and half the comments are "lucky guy! Wish that were me when I was a kid". They cannot conceive that their fantasies would not align with the reality of the situation
As an author, I'm glad to say I've never done anything like this. My general rule for writing women was, just write them like any other character. In fact, don't bring up gender at all, unless it's relevant to the story. So I wrote my characters with no regard for stereotypical gendered traits, relationships, or roles. Over time, I started to realize a lot of my characters ended up trans coded. I had wanted to include some trans representation due to this being a futuristic solarpunk society, but even the characters I based on myself read as trans coded. It turned out there was a reason for this.
THIS! The only thing I would say matters is that men and women can have different personality traits.
You know what I’m talking about.
Wow, that’s really cool! 🙂
Its a great way to go about it!
It's sometimes okay to bring up topics that have to do with culture in a fantasy world that's different than this world when it comes to gender expectations and or roles.
But a woman character and a man character going through the same storyline don't really need their gender mentioned constantly.
So many times it seems like people write women without personality.
You can write a softer woman, that's fine, just give them personality and relevance that isn't centered around being a woman, you can make her strong physically or mentally but if "strong woman" is all she is Its a no thanks.
You just gotta think, if a male character in the same situation would be seen as having no personality, then you're probably doing it wrong.
As a side note: it's okay to have a woman have a love life or settle down with a partner in your writing too--it's just the fact that lots of writers and want to protect their female characters and in the process stunt their development.
My stories have all kinds of characters both men and women in many different roles. One thing I make it a point to do is always add some kind of personality to a character because I've had both men and women on my ideas fall flat in personality and development until I delve deeper into their character, say via a side story or off page event
I'll even mentally throw the character in an AU for a few hours in my head just to develop them by seeing them in a different situation
I’m convinced that every one of these male authors learned to write from the Fifty Shades of Gray books.
Without learning about how they’re actually just about shy girl fantasies and not about women being into BDSM.
Well, she is a woman writer, so she should know, right?
Let us not forget that 50 Shades was just a Twilight AU fanfic.

8:50 This is so important. Fantasising about being dominiated and having a man (or woman) take you when they please can be very arousing.
But actually not being in the mood and someone forcing themselves onto you is a whole nother story.
IF your private parts get tingely when someone talks about forced intercourse, you probably don't want this done to you but you still might want to have sex and just talking about intimacy can be exciting enough. Remotely thinking about sex might just trigger this feeling, even if it's during a bad topic you talk about.
It's the topic.
It can trigger a reaction whether it's positive or negative contact
I personally am uncomfortable with certain topics and will have physical reactions
There's a difference between an uncomfortable reaction and a reaction when something is actually arousing
Also, just because you fantasize something, doesn't mean you would enjoy it irl even if it is exactly as you imagined. I think that's important to keep in mind also.
Makes people try to justify claiming "ha you like it or say you are definitely homosexual just because the body had an involuntary reaction
@@LRM12o8yeah. I always try to understand if people have weird fantasies or fetishes; even if I personally don’t like them.
