Hey Joe , a couple of mine that I like , Buffalo Trace Store Picks, Weller S/R, Regular Blanton's with Coke Zero, Evan BIB, Heaven Hill BIB and Elmer T Lee with 7up Zero and also Heaven Hill BIB with Cherry Coke Zero ,,,, I Most always start my drinking night with at least 1 or 2 mixed drinks before going to pours ... A&W has been my go to mixer soda for years now. A lot of people have been surprised when they tried it with me and enjoyed it but also root beer down here in the south is also popular. Growing up that’s all my grandparents drank but it was Barqs Rootbeer but I prefer the A&W to mix with due to the vanilla I think. A good A&W drink besides just mixing it with whiskey is an Irish Root Beer 1oz Jameson 1/2oz Baileys Irish Cream 1/2oz butterscotch schnapps 12oz root beer.

Might catch a ton of trash talk but I crave a crown and sprite sometimes over bourbon mixed. For whatever reason, bourbon mixed just doesnt hit me well where neat is phenominal. Dr. Pepper, Coke and Sprite are just the superior beverages by themselves and mixed, debate solved haha!

Let me elaborate a bit. Bourbon is not an ordinary whiskey. Adding soda of any sort is almost like adding milk to red wine ordering a Wagyu steak well done only to put ketchup on it. I could definitely understand the usage of pouring soda in a finished or flavored whiskey for the ladies at a party. However, men should never add a Pepsi to a genuine bourbon. Although Mountain Dew was developed as a mixer for moonshine back in the day, bourbon is a finely aged whiskey and should be preserved as such. In short, either drink the bourbon neat, on the rocks, or not at all.
