I'm Tired Of Unfinished Games And Video Game Updates

  • I'm really tired of unfinished video games that launch in a constant need of repair. I want to be able to buy a game and know what I'm getting and be able to enjoy that same experience later on. So many games launch now with incomplete content, very glitched and buggy gameplay and a lack of cohesive vision on what they want to be, only to discover their identity later. I'm really tired of this trend and it's actively making gaming less enjoyable. #gaming #videogames

    Facts. This is extremely frustrating for me. I’m a single player guy with inconsistent internet and I hate having to constantly update a game because it was broken at release or unfinished. Most modern games are derivative and by the numbers, so it makes it even more sad when they come out undercooked.

    Modern gaming is kinda killing gaming at this point. Many of the new common practices these companies have are absolutely demolishing the fun in games. Games are released broken on launch and you need to wait 10 billion years for the game to be playable. Everything is online now (for the most part because there are a very select few game developers that don’t just make the whole game online and value the single player experience). I feel that most games follow some sort of trend now and feel a lot less inspired. Most games that come out now feel as if it’s just a copy of another game. It’s almost become a trend to copy other games at this point for the amount of big games we get that are the exact same thing as some other game. It’s really sad where gaming sits right now and it’s even sadder that it will most likely stay like this for a while.

    • @likeandsharedeeznutsbruh2845
      @likeandsharedeeznutsbruh2845 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hate the people that defend this trend more then the publishers that push out the broken games. How many times has battlefield for example, released broken and unplayable yet the retards who complain about it are the same ones saying "this has me hyped" everytime the next one is announced and telling people who say "let's see how it turns out first" toxic and telling them to stop complaining.
      The gaming community is full of retards since it went mainstream and its killing the hobby

      Paradox is a perfect example. They make games and release them purposely as unfinished, then release "free updates" with DLCs. To get a full-feature Paradox game you have to pay 150-250$. It's such a joke. They guilt trip people into buying DLCs that should be base game, by also releasing these "free updates", aka. updates that offer things that should have been in the game on release.

    I thought this was a very common opinion. I’m pretty sick of having to wait a year to maybe a year and a half just for a game to go on sale or for it to be playable. And it’s really annoying when games make updates to make purposefully difficult enemies into jokes for little reason other than the player base having a lack of proper build knowledge or encountering those difficult enemies too early

      That was before all the normies got into gaming. Back when it was a nerds hobby, devs and publishers knew the audience and made games for them. Now it's gone mainstream all of these companies see it as a business and the games as something like Apple products, push out the exact same shit year after year and all the retard drones will line up for it and accept it even if it has issues that need to be fixed. They'll say things like "im never buying this product again" but 12 months later they're lining up for that exact same product yet again.

    One thing thats always bugged me with the constant "Release it now, patch it later" mentality, especially in regards to the physical copies, is how years down the line if you wanted to play them and you go to install the game, usually requiring updates, if the servers are long gone then that renders the copy you have useless! Game perservation and making sure the game is even playable years later is never considered by alot of companies :(

    • @anhonestrussian7056
      @anhonestrussian7056 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@CarsonsChannel We're just now getting to the point where it could happen. Wii and DS infrastructure shut down. Still some access to repurchases but that's it. Wii U shutdown announcement, PS3 was going to but retain update stuff but didn't yet, original XBox did shut down. Any DLC available only through that for its games (there was some believe it or not) is now gone unless bundled in games re-released. For a while, Star Wars KOTOR had a whole DLC expansion planet/outpost you couldn't get anymore. Years down the line they decided to bring it back when they fixed the game up for Series X. For years, you couldn't play the Halo 2 online component anymore through official means after the Xbox shut down, same with all other multiplayers on it. That has now been brought back to help the Xbox reputation, but other games like Conker that component is still dead. Really depends on what we are talking about.
      Actually on that front, Silent Hill 2 on the PS2 released physically in America and ran well, but had some issues. There was later a Greatest Hits version printed that included a DLC and updated the game to fix those issues, but that version of the game is available only second hand now for a lot of money compared to an average game price. The people who bought the first disc and still have it have a worse version of the game by the admission of Konami and there wasn't even a good way to get a fix, which sort of advocated for and against the digital update era. I'm not trying to be facetious but there are examples of this sort of preservation stuff being an issue already. PSP is another defunct example where you have to now jump through hoops if you want the stuff that came with your games. It's possible but has become more difficult in recent years and eventually won't be worth keeping around for Sony.

      There's a Tony Hawks game that was released on the PS4/Xbox One before the remakes of 1 and 2 came out that requires a HUGE patch after you insert the disc, it turns out that that patch is literally the rest of the game. So when the servers go down years later, that will render that disc completely useless. Yes its far into the future but its absurd how they can't even have the entire game just on the disc.

    I don’t play games online, just single-player. Single-player games will be the same experience whether u play it now or years later. I am now playing Witcher 3 and Mass Effect LE for the first time, BEAUTIFUL finished games. And because I never played them, they are new games to me. I even have a controversial one, Mass Effect Andromeda. Now I’ll be honest, it is NOT as good as the original trilogy. BUT, I picked it up a couple years after launch after all the bug-eyes and crazy glitches were patched out, and I must say the game was not bad at all. Especially given I only paid $8.99 for a sealed Deluxe edition.
    My point, there is no rush on playing single-player games. Let it come out and wait for all DLC, all patches and even better, the price to drop. U will not be disappointed.

Those usually aren't going to be super successful, so the developers seem to have more of a chance to actually finish it, since they know they won't be able to pull a "let's just patch it and throw some DLC at it to recoup the losses" that AAA games do sometimes. The problem is us. Not wanting better and accepting this bullshit from game companies. I find a lot of gamers act like spoiled brats and demand their games instead of waiting patiently. Just look at the Pokémon community. People even begged Nintendo to have Animal Crossing days earlier before it's launch. The audience doesn't care anymore, at this point it's an addiction they need to fill then they complain later, after the honeymoon phase when it's not good.

    Honestly, the Starlight Soda from Coca Cola is nasty lol. I mean, if you like it, hey, props to you lol. I hate it. But, honestly, a game that comes to mind for this is Cyberpunk 2077. Game launched buggy as shit and now the game is playable. I didn't play that at launch but did play the launch version if that makes sense. Like, when I got the game about a couple months ago I think, idk, I was having issues with internet on my PS4 so, I couldn't do the updates and I played the launch version. I almost stopped playing the game and then I figured out the issue, fixed it with the internet and then did the update and omg.

They also made it impossible to do a boss skip that literally doesn't effect anyone aside from the people who want to do it.

Seems more and more like quantity over quality and micro transactions for long enough now sadly. I didn’t think about digital medias being pushed out more as the norm but it is now that I’ve looked into it personally.

    I dont mind games getting updates, though it depends on what that update is for... skill, trait, weapon, npc or whatever is not working as its supposed to? then hell yes I want that fixed.
    If a game is in need of what basically amounts to a total conversion mod to just run or needs 70% of its mechanics tempoarily removed just to run right then yes it should not have been released at all in that state.
    Also Arbitrarily removing things tends to bug me as well it depends on what gets removed any why

    I feel that when games ,or anything that is inherently creative in nature, are developed and released based on quarterly financial needs, the art is inevitably going to suffer. I was lucky to be around at the beginning when gaming was gaining steam (think Sega Genesis, Doom, and Dune 2) and this corporatization of the gaming industry with Games as a Service is absolute cancer. The suits need to just cut the checks and trust that the passionate creatives will take care of the rest.

    As a PC player who was out of the gaming loop for several years I have mostly been buying games when they're on sale or the past 5 years. After the underwhelming reviews of Fallout 76 and Cyberpunk 2077 (I still don't own either), I'm very wary of buying anything at launch. Maybe the trend had started before those titles, but as most games these days are either bought online or can be patched online, it seems gaming companies have taken that as a green light to release broken games and fix them later.
    A lot of games come out on console first, and only make to to PC a year or more later if at all (Red Dead Redemption a year or more after console, Ghosts of Tsushima still not yet on PC), so with those I feel the bugs have been ironed out before PC release and I'd be happy to buy for full price on PC release.
    I have enough games in my library to never buy a new game at full price unless it really appeals to me now, so I bookmark stuff and wait for it to go on sale.

    This is honestly all too true, and with your Elden Ring example. I too am a night and flame user, and I'll be honest, while I am sad at the nerf. I'll continue to use it because it still a good weapon overall and healthy for the game as a whole. After all I was DESTROYING bosses with it the moment I found out about the weapon. It was absolutely too strong of a weapon imo and it absolutely deserved a nerf. For the PVP side of things I thought it was fairly balanced tbh, it's windup made it very dodgeable and clearly telegraphs to dodge it. So if you didn't decide to dodge it that's on you and deserved to be one shotted. But again, I completely understand that as a whole, no one deserves to be one shotted. Except for grab attack spells, those always had issues in soul games from what I heard

Yeah we got Halo Infinite, Guardians of the Galaxy, Wonderlands and Cyberpunk 2077 is good now. I'm just tired of the nonsense where they sell it and fix it later mentality. One that really made me a bit mad was rdr2….r* literally just slapped shit together halfway through while creating a great game but couldn’t push through. Like there’s still so many clipping issues and bugs. The flipping epilogue character is not even what he’s supposed to be. All the beta stuff scrapped, there’s connected side missions to a certain thing but it’s cut and the mystery can’t be solved so wtf. They literally just said fuck this where’s my money and game award. Then through the constant “patches” they downgrade the game and say here’s a free camera mode. Im sorry but this game had way more potential.

    My tin foil hat conspiracy theory is that the reason modern gaming is pushing such a hard drive towards online play and not single player is because almost all multiplayer games are quick and attention deficient. How many multiplayer games have story modes or allow for you to explore or any of that sort? Almost none, CoD for example is just a quick burst of dopamine where you shoot people, do an objective, and win or lose. Then repeat. Same with mortal kombat, or racing games, or party style mini-game games, and the list goes on. They want you addicted to the game you are currently playing by giving you quick dopamine burst the same as what TikTok does. Secondly; its alot easier to develop a game where the player does the same thing over and over then an entire game with a story and open world. With all the assets that activision reuses i bet 90% of the budget goes into making those single player modes that are super short and probably cost way less to make then other games at the $60 price tag.
    So its easy to make and its very addictive. Of course they want that instead of good games.
