a year later after your video Fan home has not fixed the issue . I had them send me new parts and it still didn't fix the problem then I remembered the internet thank you for your video on this problem
Here to say thank you for this video. I can't tell you the time waste troubleshooting and getting no where with Fan Home support. Cutting off C3 not only restored scanner functionality, I have perfect functionality.
Thanks for the info. I did try it out and (holy shit) it worked!!!! I only have one problem. The scanner light never shuts off. If I hit the button on the watch, it'll shut the sound off, but not the light. It continues back and forth. Not a huge deal, I guess. I can deal with it. I'll just have to remember to always shut the main power off when it's not in use
Glad it worked for you mate , I haven't heard of that problem with the scanner not shutting off but I suppose that's better than it not working at all .
Had the same problem and removed the c3 carefully with the sodering iron. It wasn't defective and it measured 8.6uf. It would be nice if someone that had his scanner work without removing C3 could measure his C3 capacitor so that we narrow down what the cause of this problem actually is. Could it be that the wrong value cap has been installed on the non working scanners or is it something else?
Kind of worked for me. Now I might get one full travel of scan with the leds but then stops scanning. The sound works and all of the other light stay lit. This is frustrating. Edit: I had a 2nd scanner board and tried again and it worked out great! Maybe I damaged the first one cutting off C3. Works great though now! Thank you so much!
I'd love a second one to turn into KARR , but it's a 2 year subscription unless you can manage to find somebody that collected it but didn't build it .
fanhome send me aa pic from a total wrong platine and say me i should remove c3 clip from platine and than it should works but with wrong platine pic they send its absolut useless . know they not which platine is in this modell ?
Can you help me , I am near the end and just went to test the electrics and nothing is working , I changed the batteries , I just don't understand why can you help
Hi mate , First make sure your butteries are fully charged , Then make sure your watch battery is good aswell as those tend to go flat . Make sure all your wiring leads are secure in the motherboard especially from the power lead . Try these 1st
i have a different issue. As soon as I turn my power on at the battery compartment the scanner comes on (chases as it should), but the watch doesn’t do anything for it. I can’t turn it on or off with the watch. Bloody thing keeps resetting to French too.
Not sure about that one mate ? I have heard of the watch resetting , this is due to the battery , try a new one , mine kept resetting due to the battery also .
I think they will end up sending you another issue of 42 with another motherboard free of charge . Fanhome have an awesome customer care mate they sent me one till I found the cure out for myself .
@@strokemondeo yes I'm inpressed so far. I contacted them last year to see if they could help with one small part I had ballsed up and rounded off somehow and they sent me the entire pack again.

Get those nail cutter out , cut C3 off of the scanner circuit board n plug everything in as labled , 100% works 👍
What do you mean by cut C3?

Hi mate ,
First make sure your butteries are fully charged ,
Then make sure your watch battery is good aswell as those tend to go flat .

c3 from the scanner platine ? not from platine in the car ?? why say fanhome that not ?? and i think they mean the big platine in back of car...
No not the rear circuit board, C3 on the back of the scanner circuit board , the circuit board at the front behind the scanner .
