I followed that series ch 1 to the end as they came out. That summer I was working and that was one of the things I looked forward to each week. I loved it so much. I love how it truely felt like a series that took place in a middle school with middle school characters. It completely makes sense why middle school boys would theorize she was a kaiju and girls want to touch her horns and it is like her coming to school with dyed hair or something the class has never seen before like a rare Pokémon card. Middle schoolers are fascinated by that stuff! I love how her mom and her have a argument and disagreement and solve it that night by talking! They talk! They communicate! This rarely happens or feels so real in stories. All the character bonds were so healthy and I wanted to see the story continue. I wanted to see her growth. I’m glad the author set boundaries and decided to stop for their health. I hope the author is doing well now.

Hurts my heart every time I think about this series. The culture of being a mangaka almost seems like its designed to take advantage of the authors. I can only hope if Ruri Dragon does come back, its met with open arms from fans

It is a shame that we never quite got, or at least for now, to fully enjoy Ruri Dragon because it was simple and fun to read but calling it a "special" manga or a shining star in Shonen Jump seems exaggerated imo
I am extremely sad, this series was so unique at actually creating the school environment, it wasn't a "OMG SHE'S A DRAGON!? AAH SHE'S WEIRD GET AWAY FROM HERE" trope that they went with, rather that "oh shit she's a dragon! Could she be a *kaiju*!?" way of curiosity, a more realistic way of how kids and teens would react to their friend. Ironically enough, it's what I expected and wanted MHA to be, which was a bigger focus on the school life aspect of the story. Coincidentally, there's a new manga called Ogami Tsumiki to Kinichijou, it almost has the same vibe to it where the guy is a normal human and the girl is half-werewolf. It's really good and wholesome so far! If you could recommend some other similar mangas, I'd love to hear them!

I heard abt it but y'know 6 a 1000 chapters are'nt enough to convice me into strating something, im sure is great, just like this vid, so we are just left to hope.
It was a nice slice of life-ish series, but personally I don't rly get the hype that everyone keeps on giving it/wanting it back so badly. Like to me at least, it was one of those series that was enjoyable but nothing crazy/to write home about. Similar enjoyment to stuff like super smartphone or like kagurabachi
I think there was alot of factors that attributed to its popularity. At the time it came out, people were looking for something different from Jump and Ruri was that. It had the makings of the next Komi-san in terms of its softness.
