    These are the best treatment of Job that I have every heard in over 40 years as a Christian. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away, Blessed be the name of the Lord. God wants to be treasured above all. The Lord took my wife, house and job. He gave me a severely handicapped child. May the name of the Lord be praised. God is sovereign over all.

      It's not wise to grade preachers and contest them against eachother. One supplements the mind and spirit in one way, the other in others. Each uniquely supports the body of Christ.

    Marvellous exposition....I thank God for spiritual growth through using men like Pastor Piper... A lot of individuals that I have came across in my walk as a child of God refuse to believe that a holy God would allow certain calamitys to come upon a believer? But he does as the book of Job shows us... I thank God for his truth through his spirit. As it says in Isiaiah his ways are not our ways, nor his thoughts our thoughts.. He is a Sovereign holy God.

    Powerful message, thank you Pastor John! As Pastor John states near the end of his talk, it is completely different after Christ Jesus' Ministry and Work on the Cross compared to Job being under the Old Covenant, yet we can receive deep and moving revelation and understanding from the Book of Job, and learn much that is applicable to our Walk with Christ. The adversary no longer has access to the Throne of GOD as the accuser of the brethren; he was expelled from the 3rd Heaven during Christ's Ministry on earth {LUKE10:17-20; LUKE4:1-13}.
    By His Work on the Cross, Christ marched satan, death, and satan's entire dominion, making a public spectacle of all powers, authorities, and rulers of darkness of this world as Christ paraded satan's defeat through the Heavenly realms. After the death, Resurrection, and Ascension of Christ Jesus, and as He sits at the right hand of the Throne of GOD,
    the adversary's powers have been curtailed and are under the full control of GOD, and are used for the ultimate good and purpose of GOD'S Kingdom, as GOD sees fit, so satan can be used by our Heavenly Father to salt and refine us, as our Father's Will is done in our lives. Yet through Christ Jesus and in His Name there is nothing that can separate us from our Heavenly Father if we remain One in Christ Jesus, immersed in His Name, for satan has been Judged; that the Cross brings Judgment by triumphing over satan and evil..
    "...concerning Judgment, because the ruler of this world is Judged." {JOHN16:11}.

    And I am totally in agreement with you about Elihu! He didn't belong to any' school of thought', but listened intently while the others were talking which enabled him to think deeply before speaking. Your wonderful presentation has been a great blessing to me . Shalom in Yeshua

    To grasp the wonders of Jehovah power takes years of deep silent , deep cogitations. I had begun a decade ago, learned more than fifty years of ignorance. And still seeking. Each degree of awareness lessens fear of death, increase love for god and embrace life closer with utmost respect, tolerance and love. Jesus displays what god is. A Jesus who is the first and last to forgive. If anyone denies you mercy, just look to Jesus.

  • @luv2luvujc

    “Why does the way of the wicked succeed?” (Jeremiah 12:1). Habakkuk also asked God, “Why do You remain silent when the wicked devours one more righteous than he?” (Habakkuk 1:13). I struggle with these verses right now. I know God is a righteous and merciful God and does not wish for any to perish but have everlasting life. However, when you feel like your are living with a demon possessed husband who is emotionally abusive, passive aggressive, lives a double life and has washed his hands of you and your son, it's hard to see God's goodness in this. When you have a controlling, narcissist of a mother who lives with you and adds to the issues in the household, you can't help but ask when is this all going to end? Where is the breakthrough? When is enough finally ENOUGH? I ask that you please keep me and my family in your prayers.

    This sermon, 1 & 2 are getting me through this divorce. It wasn’t my idea or doing, at least not directly.
    I’m depressed and I have waves of sadness overtake me seemingly at random. I’m lonely because for 18 years there have been our two children and the two of us, every day. Ups and downs, ins and outs. Nevertheless we were together, and I could keep them safe. But now I’m alone with the holidays coming soon. And I’m trying to be strong and positive, and I do have very short moments of enthusiasm.
    Perhaps the most important thing is I have fallen to my knees to pray to God. I am rendered seemingly useless, and that’s very painful. To be actually and purposefully shut out from my own family is very painful, and suddenly there’s no one.
    Please pray for us as I pray for you….
    Thank you

    Having canceled the debt ascribed to us in the decrees that stood against us, He took it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. Colossian's 2:14-15

    In the previous message, part 1, I was very pleased with how the book of Job was being opened to my understanding. Near the end of his sharing, either out of anger or excitement, he used a word that I felt didn't portray the purity of ministry. I turned it off, and prayed if I should continue to listen more to this brother or not?

    i think the finish... should of been to conclude. that Jesus is the better than JOb. he could of answered all the questions of God.. and When he like Job on the cross asked God why he had forsaken him, like a moment of time between Gods questions and Jesus occured... Jesus said yes i can answer those questions and then he answered his own question toward God with "Becauase ye are Holy "
    thereby putting to rest what JOb could not answer God with, But the God Man Jesus could and he gives the answer. YE ARE HOLY.

      You're saved unless you blaspheme the holy spirit. It says in the new testament that you can even blaspheme Jesus and be forgiven. I'm not sure what blaspheming the holy spirit is. But I think if you still feel a desire to be right with God, then he's still drawing you in and you haven't gone so far as to have no hope left. I think God keeps us largely ignorant to protect us from ourselves.

    Satan is jealous 🤣😂 hear what he does to Job, God is omniscient and omnipotent with a heart of justice that is Holy he will be worshipped and praised for eternity. Satan doesn't understand how dumb he is and how dumb he looks in the book of Job. And that's part of what's so funny is because he can't stop being that way 🤣😂 the way he attacks Job and continuously looks dumber with every attack. God and Job are in control of themselves, unfortunately for Satan well he isn't in control of himself. Imagine how many people were jealous of how much God blessed Job and blessed Job with so much in the end, jealousy and coveting belong to satan. God is so good, kind and loving.

    Mr. piper, how in the world and why do you think that Satan has any legitimate accusations against us? He is the first person that first fallen angel who rebelled, and if it wasn’t for him, there wouldn’t be any sin in the first place. So how in the heck does he get any right to condemn us in anyway? The only person who can condemn or pardon us is God.

  • @anthonybalan5995
    @anthonybalan5995 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Shocking that SATAN can MOVE GOD to do things !!... The book of job stands against the book of Romans... Total depravity of man... If man is totally depraved why should even Satan remind God that Job is righteous ?!... Did God and Satan forget about Original Sin ?!!!!

  • @rexremedy1733
    @rexremedy1733 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What if the question asked is a fallacy in itself? It is not up to us to decide whether God is righteous or not. We all know that from an earthly perspective, Gods tolerance or willingness to let righteous suffer cannot be justified. Just think of three year old children in Africa starving every day. Or the grave injustices you have experienced in your life. God, from our perspective is not righteous. But nobody asked us about our opinion. God certainly did not ask us. So here is the deal: you can make a choice between two paths: one is bad in this world, the other is better in this world. On the long run the first is better than the second one. Do you have enough faith so that your eternal salvation makes you choose calamity in this world, or not. That is the choice you have. Judging wether God is righteous or not is beyond the point. God, according to our frame of reference is not righteous. But if he would like to change this perception he could certainly do that in a heartbeat. But he doesn’t. Which means that he either does not care about the suffering in tHis world, or that he wants it to be that way, or that he cannot change that situation. I would like to hear that person who came to a final conclusion in this matter in our dispensation.
    And btw. the saying that God does not make us suffer beyond what we can take cannot be justified in reality. Or there would be no real Christians who chose suicide to end their unjustified suffering. Unfortunately that is not the case. Also Christians commit suicide. Personally, I believe there is no sense in our suffering, and little gain. It’s just an inconvenient side effect of living in this fallen world. It’s arbitrary, has no use, and will not be remembered of the long run. But it’s there now, and it sucks. I can only recommend everyone to be honest to God and to oneself about this perception. That’s all you can do.

    I mean no disrespect to this man of God when I say this was just plain scary... Whilst I couldn't make it all the way through this message, the conclusions that I did hear that he came to were just simply outrageous...
    Better to have a five-year-old stand in the pulpit and say "God good, devil bad" And close the book..
    ...And to think this is a majority view in Christianity today.. Oy vey!
    God bless you John!

      +Stilgar74 with all do respect, Im neither reformed nor traditional. i am christian. we either lie on 2 sides. 1.) trying to answer the question God doesn't desire for us to know. or 2.) we don't fail to glorify the father but making sure that we give him all the sovereignty that he deserves for us to give him. Personally i think that this message even though i theologically don't know if i completely agree... I respect that he is giving God all the authority but forgetting the culture of the world. - much love brother

    • @Stilgar74
      @Stilgar74 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Avery Parks thanks for your comments friend.. I'd also like to propose though a third position:
      3) Attributing the works of the Devil to the Lord's sovereignty.
      I'm a firm believer that we have so overcomplicated our theology that we understand God's sovereignty as every event occuring on planet earth as God's will... which is ridiculous, unbiblical and by no means reflective of the nature or heart of God.
      The classic mistake of reading Job is found even in understanding Job's comment of 'The Lord gives and the Lord takes away.." as correct. (Job actually repents of this idea at the end of the book).
      It'd be interesting to hear John Piper's understanding of the Disciples Prayer... "your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven" (i.e. why would be praying for God's will to be done on earth if it always was done!) :)

    • @Parks179-h
      @Parks179-h 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Stilgar74 I see your point, but would have to ask you this. if God is all powerful and sovereign, then will God not have to give the say so in all areas of life? If God had created all this, saying that they can make choice without his say so would be like saying that there is no need for his rule because it would be obsolete. I do believe that God gives the okay, and that he is the soul reason for all things that happen on earth. Satan needed God permission. This further proves that God is not the tempter. I'm not totally reformed though. Lol what do you think sir?

      Hey Avery Parks I think this is a very common perception of God so I totally get you.. i.e.if he's all powerful then everything that happens can only happen with his say so.. whilst I can't pretend to have all the answers I think the main point of the book of Job is that none of the main characters in the story were aware of the prologue in Chapter 1... and this is what God 'lands the plane' on so to speak, at the very end of the book..
      the other thing I think we read into this story, is the idea that what occurs in Chapter 1, with Satan coming before the Lord and 'asking permission to harm Job' is something that happens all the time, or has even has repeated itself since... the Book of Job is not trying to give us a systematic theology for how the legal system of Heaven works.. and to be honest if it were... we have an amazing new chapter in the story... Jesus our mediator.
      I also think it's a misreading to say that Satan was needing God's permission.. the scenario actually hinged around the idea that man only loves God because of the benefits (I:9-11) which when you think about it puts God in a kind of 'damned if I do damned if I don't' situation.
      Anyway, for the sake of not going on and on :) if we take this idea that nothing happens on planet earth without the permission of God, we have to start tieing his will to those events and situations that are simply plain evil.. and to be honest if that's the case, the goodness of God comes into serious question... whilst many would I suppose try and reinterpret these situations, the goodness of God is not complicated and anytime you need a phD to see his goodness in a situation you're probably on shaky ground already. (is there a man among you who will give a snake when asked for fish etc)
      What I do see happening ALL the time is that when God "makes all things work for the good of those that love him" he does such a good job redeeming a crappy situation that it often gets reinterpreted as something that must have been his 'will' all along. Plenty of stuff happens everyday that is not his will nor did he give permission to happen i.e they are violations of his will. This doesn't detract from his power or sovereignty, (and lets not forget who he's left in charge of planet earth). What it does suggest however is that we should fully embrace the prayer that Jesus taught his disciples to pray... Your Kingdom come, your will be done.. on earth as it is in Heaven.

      Man I completely agree. As a 19 year old youth intern who is going to college for evangelism... Im searching to know more. Unfortunately with reformed vs. conservative theology is something that i have and am wrestling with to the point of it simply clouding my mind. It has literally been all i have thought about and so God has told me recently that i need to leave it be and focus somewhere else. I believe that in that somewhere else, he will show me. The only question i have for those who believe in the 5 Calvinist to a tee is this. "why would God waste the blood of his son as to limit how far his grace may go?" i don't have all the answer either! I know for a fact that that is Gods will for me not to! Thank you so much for the talk brother! looking forward to a response.
