On the text at the start, it's stated that Mark set the inaugural record at 32 hours. It was actually just under 38 hours. James McCallum brought it down to 32 hours 23 min in 2016. That stayed until Josh Quigley then took another hour out of it in 2020 (31 hours 19 mins), and then Robbie Mitchell then smashed that last year down to 29 hours and 5 minutes.
A remarkable set of achievements by all concerned over the years, chapeau !

I'm quite lucky where I am in Scotland that a 15 mile route was around 1.5k of climbing so that was my training for a long time. I upped the distances as I rode more. Absolutly nice video! I had a little question. If I do an 10h ride (230km), I need ~75g carbohydrates (1/kg body weight) per hour is this correct? So I have to eat (I use Powerbar), 1 Gel, 1/2 Energize Original Bar and one ISO Active drink (in sum 75g carbohydrates) per hour? For me this feels a lot, but is this correct? And can you create a video about nutrition on long rides, this would be very cool :-) ?

    Absolute beast.
Out of curiosity. How is it that the bike doesn't need to meet the highway code for riding at night? Specifically the reflectors on the pedals and the red rear reflector. Is the bike exempt because it is a registered world record attempt, or how does that work?
    Rule 60
"At night your cycle MUST have white front and red rear lights lit. It MUST also be fitted with a red rear reflector (and amber pedal reflectors, if manufactured after 1/10/85)."

Mark a monster! It's to bad that he and his teammate were unable to finish the Race across America, because of covid. I hope they try next year.

I was just about to hop onto my bike and pop round the route in 27 hours but then I remembered I'm washing my hair that night and I can't really be bothered now.

I have a feeling he could have done a bit better with same setup but the "bullhorn" handlebars set a bit higher for climbing or just go with regular handlebars with the drops cut off for weight

Is that a freestyle libre I see in the back of his arm at the end? Must admit I skipped a fair bit of this, but the nutrition aspect would be an interesting topic in its own right. His wife did awesome too 💪

The total amount of calories needed for an endeavor like this is simply mind numbingly large.

For a dude going on a bike ride, that's quite a carbon footprint they're racking up.
