      I do not have an ALR screen, couldn't find a UST screen that was 135". Day time viewing is terrible in my basement right now, I've put blackout material on 2 of the 4 windows down there, and have blinds coming to hopefully make it better.. but definitely without a light controlled room it's pretty bad without ALR - not sure how much better it would be with.

    Got this unit a few months ago and haven’t since tuned on my LG Oled.. my friends are also impressed by the PQ, with the right content (I only watch UHD blu rays) it almost looks 3D with great depth. Pictures simply don’t do justice to laser beams. Though can’t beat the black level from any oled. The closest would be JVC or Christie

    Unfortunately, it's only 60 hz for 4K. Also, I have WIFI ceiling speakers for my Dolby Atmos system. They use WISA. WISA is not included with most 4k UST projectors. Why?
    It's now September, 2024. I'm looking to upgrade. But, I tnink we're close to getting AWOL to release an 8K version. I hope so. So, I will wait. Lets hope the next versions of 8K UST do include, at least a 120 Hz refresh rate, WISA and other nice goodies.👍

    I would take the 77" LG B3 OLED fon sale right now for $1,800 any day. With the exception of making a home theater dedicated to just old movies I just can't justify this setup. It's really cool though how far projectors have come though. I like those little 120" pocket projectors they have npw fpr around $500 bucks amd they would be cool for a long camping trip or something. But for a multi use media center it's OLED for mehands down no debate.

    • @ke5943
      @ke5943 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Thetechchap thank you. Yeh TVs always beat projectors for contrast and overall image quality. But there are allot of pros for a projector. I love the fact you can put the screen away and not have an eyesore when not in use. Non reflective screen for that more cinematic look and not so harsh on the eyes for long viewing sessions. Giant screens that don’t cost as much as TV equivalents. You can easily send them of for repair or sell them on or move location. More child friendly if you’re worried about them breaking your 100” screen. Much much much more energy efficient at 100” and above. People really overlook this last point. A 98” tv will use allot of energy and there’s a bigger likelihood of problems like dead pixels, screen uniformity etc.

    • @Dan-uh9sg
      @Dan-uh9sg ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I have this projector. Black levels are raised a bit by ambient light even with a good ALR screen. In the dark, the black level is much better than an edge lit LCD but not as good as OLED or Mini-LED. It's worth the trade off for the size and brightness. If black level is your biggest priority, you'll be happier with an OLED.

    • @walkman9482
      @walkman9482 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a bit challenging to express the appearance of laser speckle in words, but you can think of it like the display effect you might see on an iPad when you use a paperlike screen protector. Laser speckle creates a grainy or frosted texture on the screen, and some individuals with sensitive vision may notice it and experience eye discomfort after prolonged use.@@SnS-The_GLow

      Bc you can project to 150inch but you need the room size and a 150 inch screen is way more expensive than a 120

      That's not the other guy is talking about, it doesn't matter what the projector can potentially do, we're talking specifically about the title
      it will be making a video that says my car can do 300mph and then in the video I only show my car doing doing 100mph
      what we don't care what it can potentially do, we wanna see it actually do it

    🤔 You know I didn't think about it much but there is a big advantage to not having a giant screen taking up all that visual space from a normal tv setup. The benefit of a tv is if you're using it all the time then yeah no big deal but I didn't think about that much as I am not a huge gamer and I only really need a big time tv for when I am watching Netflix or TH-cam when I am eating my meals but all the other times I am not in need of a tv. Perhaps an ultra short throw projector and screen like this is better.
    Now I've got some things to think of, because I don't have a budget to get both a tv and then a projector but I am wondering how often I will actually need a tv. I really only want a big screen for when I watch movies or shows every other time I watch anything else it's on a tablet or laptop. Hmmm. Something to think about, I move next month and so I am debating whether to put a tv in the bedroom or just have one in the living room, it's just me and so I don't want to be buying really more than one tv I want my room to just be a place for me to rest and relax and sleep not have all the distractions of a screen, so I'd only be using the tv when I have my meals and maybe, very very rarely will I play a game and if I do it's on the Switch.
    I like the idea of an UST but I'll be honest I love the resolution and colors of an OLED, I am 100% spoiled by a nicer resolution but the picture looks good. You can plug a soundbar into this right and you mentioned they're in Florida? I got to check it out :D maybe they do military discount as well lol

    I'm 4m 34s into this video 'Upgrading my TV Setup' - am I watching a sponsored ad? Have you upgraded? Is this a critical review or not? I still don't know so I'll think I'll stop my playback now.

      It certainly comes off as an ad disguised as a review
      In the world we live in now, everybody and their grandma and pets are always trying to convince you that you need something and trying to sell you
