50 Difficult decisions... Is my Thai husband the right person for me?

- Have you ever felt doubts about the one you love? And what did you do at that moment? Did you tell them about it?
This is another part of our love story. In this part, we share with you how me, Maayan, started feeling very strong doubts about Mon. Being from different parts of the world with different educational backgrounds, did make me question for a while if Mon is the right person for me. The doubts were eating me from inside for a while and i couldn't pretened so i shared my feelings with Mon. It made him insecure and question the relationship as well. Is our love strong enough to concur this?

Mayan, I admire your courage and openness in sharing all of this with us. You are a great couple! Your doubts were understandable. In Holland and Israel, Mon didn't conform to the usual "norms" and suddenly we tend to think in categories, to be influenced by prejudices and to see others through the eyes of others instead of our own. From my experience with dealing with many people in my 40 years on the this planet, people who love to do nothing are more alive and soulful than busy body worker bees.
They arent judgemental, they love life, they treat people well, they are at peace, and grateful to be alive. Cant say the same about social climbers and careerists. Theyre like dead, always complaining, whining, crying, at the smallest things and alot of them are on precription drugs just to make it through the day.
Thats just my experience though lol

Oh, wow. This really struck a nerve. I used to live in Asia and met a man that I fell madly in love with. As soon as we moved to the USA I saw him so differently. I was unkind. After many years, the relationship couldn't sustain itself because of my constant doubts and comparisons. I often wonder what life would have been like had we gone back to Asia and continued our relationship as it had once been. He was such a beautiful, bright soul. Thank you so much for articulating your feelings and experience. It was both shocking and comforting to hear someone put into words what I've been carrying within. It's been such a feeling of shame, even after so many years.

@@SweetLifeLanta Interestingly enough, I saw him again recently, after almost 15 years. I wish I could report it as a great romantic rekindling. Alas, I felt nothing. He was like a stranger to me. Time is funny like that. It can erase a bond that was once so strong.

I can totally relate to this when I met my Indonesian husband! Particularly the intellect doubt… he was from a small village and totally uncultured. Now that’s something I love about him! Love that you’re sharing your story ❤️
Totally! I feel I finally "settled" for the "less intellectual" bit, but what I finally got was much more than a diamond even! We are just so used to thinking in these boxes like what education you did, and what papers you have, or even what fancy words you can say in English, that we are missing out on that wisdom that is not measured in a grade on a paper. And Mon has tons and tons of that.

"Uncultured"? Please, try to inform yourself about what culture is. No one is "uncultured". Cultures are different but NO culture is better than another culture. A culture makes it possible for people to function and survive in that specific place.
@@bustillomana yes, perhaps I didn’t explain that well, what I suppose I would describe him as previously was perhaps small-minded… he had an attitude of not wanting to learn about other people or integrate with other cultures. His own culture was very strong yes, but in terms of knowing more about the world he had no interest and for someone like me who loves to travel I found this mind-bogglinf
Okay, now that I have watched it, I want to add another layer to the topic.
Mon was the one with a bigger interest and fascination in you. It wasn’t YOUR idea in the beginning, but you gave it a chance. Meaning, he was already certain from the start, and you were smitten but undecided. This happens to many women, cause more often men are choosing women than the other way around. Now, as soon as YOU had the opportunity to make a ripe decision, you DID. And this was when your heart actually opened for Mon. Because you yourself were an active component. I love how you share your story ❤ When the heart opens, it’s einfach einfach! 😂

@@SweetLifeLanta I am certain it’s a simple biological necessity for a female to be able to choose the father of your children, actively. Nature does that! As marriage or partnership are not for her and him, but an agreement to take care of the brood. And since survival of the fittest is a natural law, it is of utter importance to the female that intelligence

I was caught up with the family during the premiere unfortunately but managed to watch it just now. These were normal feelings considering the cultural differences, the commitment to change the direction of your life radically and pretty much permanently and I think that would be not so easy to do for you the Western woman than Mon, pretty much the same as Janette had to do to make it work with Sulai. Ultimately the unbreakable bond of love won over and having got to 'meet' these two men via these videos it is easy to understand why both of you women ended up making the decisions in life that you both did. This reminds me of my story with my husband! I also met my husband while living abroad on a bit of an adventure. I went through the same period of doubt and uncertainty, we broke up briefly, and then I realized we were meant to be together. We got married last summer and actually honeymooned in Thailand, not far from Koh Lanta! 🥰

this is such a useful video not just for mixed relationships but immigration in general and how seeing yourself or other people out of context can throw you off course and make doubts. like you I have called three countries home and seeing myself and my old and new lives through eyes influenced by each successive move means I have to put everything back into context again. but after doubts comes clarity and calm...I hope one day to be able to do that with a relationship as strong as you two, too ❤️

I believe both of you are very open to each other. Feeling insecure is something very common, it's part and parcel of life. We tend to questions ourselves did we make the right decisions. Deep inside we still love the person. Life needs to go on. I know, difficult decisions can be hurtful at times.

Hello Maayan, and hello Mon, when I read that title of this video. My heart sank. I said to myself. What is wrong to this beautiful couple, and I sat to watch this whole video. Which made me feel good. Maayan I went through Hell for 27 years. We had our first argument the first night we were wed. But there was nothing i could do. I had already bought a beautiful house, 10 minutes away from my present property and built a beautiful house for the 4 of us. This place cost me a fortune. But I was willing to make the sacrifices to make this marriage work.When I bought this property and built this beautiful house. I lived here for 2 years all by myself, with my German Shepherd dog. Sheba was my soul mate then, and she followed me every where when I was at home. I felt the more I gave my Ex. The more she wanted. When I bought this property, I said to her. One day when I am able, and I can afford it. I would love to live on an acreage. She knew right from the start, that I was earning big money, and I would give her anything she wanted. I found later on in our marriage, that I married a very avarious woman. Nothing I did could keep her happy. Maayan I am so happy now. I have my kids and my grandkids, and my happiness is fulfilled. One thing I would like to say. I have great regards for the both of you. You have 2 gorgeous kids. In every marriage there are problems. But if there is some misunderstanding. Please do not argue in front of the kids. Talk to one another when your kids are asleep, and do not go to bed with anger in your heart. Kiss and make up, and you will get up fresh the next day. Absolutely! We should definitely listen to the doubt but it doesn't always tell us it is not the right person. It could tell us many things about ourselves too. In my case I'm definitely guilty of fear of commitment

Ok on another note regarding your doubts and fears
I think it was totally understandable what you went through because it was you that was risking and giving up so much of what your mind had always told you you wanted and that would have felt very scary. What you did was HUGE ! you gave up what you knew and risked incredibly. The head verses the heart is hard in this day and age especially. And for a woman who knows we need security and need to be safe. Woh!!! You were incredibly brave. It must have been so hard. I admire you.
I went through this with the father of my son. It was back and forth , back and forth for 3 years and then I jumped and married him. I always prayed God would take the fear and the doubt but he never did. We can never know the future.
When I jumped I did so with the motto " better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all " ( to prepare my self if I did lose)
Well I did. Five years into our marriage after having our son he told me he was transgender and wanted a divorce.
So in the long run I did love and lose. But would I change it in the bigger scheme of things ? No.
I wouldn't change the past. Even though it was very sad losing the man I loved and my son and I went through so much it was a part of my life. Much of that time I cherished

I know exactly what you mean when you suddenly feel that 'the cool guy' doesn't seem so cool anymore when he's not in his usual environment or 'In his element'. Yes, it's normal to have doubts because we visualize our ideal guy to be suave in any environment or situation. But that hardly happens in reality 😅 we never get the "James Bond" in real life. But seeing you guys do your groovy dances together, it just feels so right😍 like you belong together.

Briefly about me: I am Polish and I met the love of my life in Egypt, he is Danish. I went there for a 2-week vacation to rest and find myself. I was married at this time and I have 2 children.
During the trip one night exactly at 2 am something woke me up and because we were traveling on the Nile by boat I decided to go to the top deck . And there I saw him. There was no one but the two of us. I was afraid to go to him and say hello because at that time I did not speak English well. And suddenly I heard a voice "from above" - `` Open your heart for this love`". Without thinking, I went to him, looked him deeply in the eyes and just said one sentence " I've been waiting for you my whole life”.
He felt the same. What's amazing is that he was awakened at the same time and decided to go to the top deck just like me …
At that moment, we knew we wanted to be together …
At that moment, I knew I had to follow my heart and change my life completely.
And so began our story full of amazing miracles and also full of ups and downs. Now after 13 years we are together ,living a fantastic life in Denmark …

The size thing makes me laugh. I am not small, but I felt small in the Netherlands also, because everybody is so tall. That is the only country in the world I felt self-conscious about my height, and I am not short. And I agree with Mon about the food in Israel, it is glorious. It is a food lover's paradise. So is Thailand, but in a completely different way. I like in your relationship that Mayaan speaks Thai very well and Mon's English is good. Most interracial relationships don't have that dynamic. Even better if Mayaan spoke Bahasa and Mon spoke Hebrew, that would be something else. lol. The film-making skills are very good.

I lived 13 years of my life living outside the US so I have either lived in these countries or been to them. I have been to the Netherlands 3 times and I lived in Israel for about 6 months, which was interesting. I lived in Thailand for around 9 years and even had a long-term girlfriend from the South. I can speak Thai, which is why I know your Thai is very good. I am also a classically trained chef and love Thai food so I get a kick out of Mon's cooking also. Even though we come from different countries, I relate to your experience very much. I even had whirlwind romances in Israel and Thailand. I enjoy your videos very much, you turned something banal and ubiquitous into art. Meaning, you have elevated YT storytelling to a higher level.
