My father now 76 had a DAF 2800 that took him to Saudi and back in the early 70’s. He be away for six weeks at a time, he eventually worked for Ashtrans for years doing the regular middle east trips!
He had a great big aircon unit on the roof and no power steering back then!

The Leyland MARATHON, the last lorry built at AEC Windmill Lane Southall Middlesex. I can remember also whilst serving my apprenticeship during the early 1970s seeing the AEC MANDATOR V8 going out with the experimental department with huge 4 ton weights bolted on to simulate load. The V8 was still in the teething stage and needed the time (which Leyland denied) to rectify 😇

love seeing the old trucks again would like to see trucks used from the manufacturing side of industry from the past with their brand names on, like confectionery for instance there are so many. Cravens, Rowntrees, Terrys, Bluebird Toffees, Hussicks Toffees, Needlers of Hull, Batguers London, Sharps Toffees Maidstone, Halls of Whitfield, Maynard's Wine Gums London N4, Barratts Sweets Wood Green London N22, Caxton Chocolate London N22, Sun' dor confectionery Crawley Sussex and many more I used to drive for Maynard's and Barratts in the mid 1960's I have some photos of their trucks but they are not all good copies though

Good to see Fridged Freight from Diss Norfolk @7.17 , later became Fridge Freight. The lorries were Green trailers, yellow writing, and the unit was yellow. Sadly they are no more., but MRCT took their place.

Truly tragic that must have been laughed at wherever it went.

Fyi. Here in England we do not have 'trucks' That would be in America. However, what we do have are "LORRIES" As a lorry driver of many years this is the correct name used for our HGV vehicles. Or as an alternative we sometimes called them "WAGONS" But never trucks. Get it right.
