- In this video I show you how to make a Friendship Star Block that is
6.5" unfinished. This is assembled the Partial Seam way. It is fairly easy and a beginner could do this block.
What you need for 1 block: 4- 2.5"x4.5" Rectangles & 5- 2.5"x2.5" Squares.
I premade off camera and did this as my final border in the Continuum Quilt Videos with @sewbecca and @OffKilterCrafterIan

Love this Tiffany. Thank you for your careful way of teaching step by step. I appreciate it.
Thank you! You make it look so easy!
Thanks Tiff. You have a big heart . I appreciate your teaching.
Thanks Tiffany for the awesome tutorial. I already knew how to do the friendship star but you gave me an idea for a scrappy floating star quilt using up my scraps. I love it!
Interesting technique... I always sew my friendship stars like a nine patch with HST's and squares.
The only thing I would add is..when sewing the 2 1/2 white square to the 2 1/2 x 5” rectangle together is to go ahead and sew next to the small triangle together before cutting to have a half triangle square. Save the small squares to be used another time for binding or another project all together.
I save my cut offs for hour glass blocks 😊
Love this. Will probably enlarge it!
Love it. Thank you Tiffany!
Can you use jelly roll for this friend ship blocks?
You can 😊
The only beef i have with this machine is that lip that catches my seams. Love your nails! Love your tutorial. I really love watching you sew, Thank you kindly
I put a piece of tape over the edge to minimize catching.
@@kaydeekrafts4848 yep, that was my solution. Not sure why they havnt remedied this yet
Thank you 😊
I’m here, but late
Same. Why wouldn’t they make the foot plate flush? It catches worse than my brother machine did. But otherwise I love everything about my new Juki
Thank you for sharing very nice easy block just didn't know that 😊
Fat quarter shop showed to sew a 90 degree angle on the partial seam to prevent backstitching.
I did that on my last partial seam video. This one I didn't cause I wasn't chain piecing it
Yesss! I was hoping you’d show us cause I could tell you didn’t do it with all squares. 😊
Thank You Tiffany! Great Teachwr!
I like this!
Great video tutorial Tiff. Thanks ❤
Thank you thank you thank you. Love it
You're welcome 😊
Watching replay. You make it look so easy!
I have alot of end cuts. This will be great
I was unsure of partial seams until I got a pattern that used the partial seaming method…I love it now
Great tutorial Tiffany thanks so much ❤
Thanks for sharing. God bless
This is great. You give such complete instructions. On thing for new quilters when making the HST it is good to fold back to check placement before cutting off the corner. I have zagged and had some seams off and was able to correct right then and not have to remake a block. You are Slow and precise in all the areas so you can follow. Thanks.
Thank you 😊
Great tutorial thanks for sharing 😊
What a great way to make a Friendship Star! I haven't seen this method before; I've always laboured throught squares and HST's. Not anymore! Thank you for demonstrating so clearly so even clueless Aussies like me can follow along 🤪🦘
Glad it was helpful 😊
Great idea for a baby quilt>💞
Tiffany you are phenomenal, this freindship star is great and easy. Thank you
Thank you 😊
Your the best Tiffany. Tyfs💖
Great demo, thanks!
Love this !! Thank you !!
Hi Tiffany. I love, love, love your videos. Can you tell me the brand, etc of your magnetic seam guide. Thanks.
This is what I have shrsl.com/4id8g
Thank You!
You are a genius!!!!
I love doing partial seams. Love your tutorials
❤️❤️❤️
Awesome. Yes I plan on making a baby quilt with this. ❤❤❤. I love the staggered look. Thank you Tiffany 😊
Thank you,
This definitely feels easier for me now, and also a good use for jelly rolls,
You are so relatable, and good good at clarifying construction and simple explanation and tutorial of piece by piece,
I would love for you to do more block tutorials.
Little by little I will get some done 😊
Thank You Tiffany 😊
❤❤❤
This was a very good tutorial Tiffany! The pattern is easy to remember and to sew using the partial seam. There are, as you said, many variations either with colors or with layouts. That makes very versatile !,👏🏻👏🏻🥰🥰
Thanks 😊
Great tutorial. It must have been awful for you having to go so slow. You are more 🐇 than 🐢 with your sewing speed. 😉😂
Lol I was mainly trying not to hit the camera haha
I have made this before, but without the half seams. Lori Holt has a tutorial, but she does her folded corners a little odd. This is the best way to do the corners. I cheated and did mine the way you did. You'll have to check out Lori's.
Ya I will have to go take a look.
I didn't know this pattern was a friendship star. Its called a morning star in an 80s magizine. Thank you for the video your way is much easier than the pattern I was using.
Most blocks have many names. This is the one I know for it. But it a fun easy way to make them 😊
Friendship ⭐
Awesome tutorial! Wish you are my neighbor. 😊
Thanks! 😃
Thank you! Great tutorial 😊. Also called a Y seam i think. ❤🎉
Y seams are used in hexies and diamonds and many paper pieced patterns.
I love your videos. You're so smart and make things look easy.
Thank you! 😊
3 1/2"× 6 1/2" and 3 1/2" squares. 4 1/2" × 8 1/2, and 4 1/2 " squares,... 5 1/2" , 6 1/2" etc small measurement, matches square size., large measurement is double small size with seams allowed, the and a half, being both seams allowed. 1 1/2" and 2 1/2", may be too fiddly, up to you. Try a 2" × 4" , for your hourglasses? You may have some left over? How would a 4-patch go with half of a star and 4 hour glasses? With 2 each hg's In the opposite sides? May be similar to a greek border pattern? All the best.
Thanks for adding that 😉 I had a chart saved somewhere on one of my devices. I may have to find a new chart 😄
@@TiffanysQuiltingLife i like print outs to put in a folder. I can't find things in files on my devices.
Thank you for showing how to make these!
Also, I am new to your channel and would like to know if you have instructions or info on the flag looking piece hanging on the wall in some of your videos? I would love to make one!

Enjoy your channel. You are a very good teacher.😊
Sounds like a project for my collection of charm packs!🎉
Very clever. It makes so much sense. Thank you Tiffany. 👏🏻🥰
love those friendship stars, and the way you stagger them. Very nice!
Great tutorial. Tiff - have you looked into the industrial Juki range, as they sew about 2500 stitches - or so I have heard.
Ya I have one for bags. It was a toss for the one I could use for piecing. But I don't have room for both.
Thank you for showing us how to do this star. I really liked how it turned out on your continuum quilt Sunday. I will definitely be using this pattern for quilts to come. 😊
Have fun!
Thanks!
Thank you so much 😊
You're very welcome 😊
