I can't get over how breathtaking and skillful these are. How much would it even cost to get something like this done? I appreciate you taking me to see something that I won't be able to experience myself.
LORDY...TENS OF THOUSANDS IS MY GUESS... LIKE, THEY JUST DON'T DO THIS ANYMORE, ESPECIALLY WITH THE MAGNIFICENT ARTISTRY AND DETAIL THEY CRAFTED BACK THEN...
This cemetery is old and pretty much full. I think most people in there are really old. And probably had some good money to afford that. If I'm not mistaken there's even a reproduction of the main church from Milan in there as a family chapel. Source? I live in this city and have visited this cemetery before as it quite literally is a work of art.
I’m going to guess that poor man has Turrets syndrome and the cemetery is the one place he can go to where everybody isn’t scolding him and telling him to shut up.
As I've always said, you don't have to be worried about the dead in a cemetary, it's the living people who do no good. Dan, you are exempt! Thank you for a beautiful video.❤
The state in which these cemeteries are found testifies to the lack of vision regarding the conservation of the space as true museums full of works of open-air tomb art. When they left this life, these people left a true legacy for posterity in works of art of extreme realism and beauty. Unfortunately, there is a lack of people who recognize the artistic and historical value of this heritage and decide to promote its restoration and maintenance. Once restored, these areas could be accessed upon payment of a fee that would be used for their conservation. It's pitiful!
Devil man was creepy lol. What a talent the sculptures had to do the statues and everything, as you mentioned about carving the flames and under the clothes etc. They are amazing and so wonderful to see. Thank you!
That is the most beautiful cemetery I have ever seen! I would love to go there! I can tell just through the phone the energy in that place is amazing! The ghost session i could have there would be off the charts!! Absolutely beautiful 😍😍😍
That poor man is suffering from mental illness, he's not a devil. Let's not demonize people with disabilities, we know better than that. The sculptures in this cemetery are breathtaking! I can't imagine how much work went into each statue. Great video with the most beautiful sculptures ever in one place!
I like the way to tell us what you're seeing and the thoughts going through your head at the time. It gives an almost childlike joy to the walk. God bless you 🙏
I really needed this today. the last 24 hours in this country have been brutal and I desperately needed something beautiful to look at, thank you so, so much for this.
TH-cam recommended this video to me and I just gotta say, he may have been having an episode of some kind. Demonizing mental illness is incredibly dangerous and just breeds misinformation. We need a lot less of that and more kindness and beauty, like the sculptures. Wild that people are on here thinking that man is legitimately evil or a devil when we’ve got real evil casually walking around.
Well there is an odd one for you, definitely strange noises from that gentleman. Sounded like he was in pain. Gorgeous sculptures, it goes beyond the imagination in places! Genoa has my heart! ♥️☘️
I am just truly amazed at the detail, the beauty and the ornateness of the memorials. Considering how long ago they have passed on, I can't help but to wonder how the families were able to fund such beautiful monuments for their loved ones. Such stunning works of art. I'm from the US and have never seen anything like it. I'm a new follower to your channel and look forward to more. Stay safe while exploring. 🌞🌜⭐
When I see cemeteries, it is because there is an attempt to preserve the remains forever, unfortunately time reigns and it consumes everything we are. I am sad to see how abandoned the cemeteries are abandoned
I got interested at an early age in cemetaries when my High School history teacher took us on an outing to an historic site in Mobile Alabama. It had graves in it from all 5 nations that held claim on alabama, from the 1600's on. Our class was to make a charcoal rubbing of a slab tomb and then write a story about that person (pre google era). If we were lucky, the occupation was on there. Then Egyptian funeral practices caught me, then prehistoric discoveries in Britain got me and now funeral art as in your channel and even some gravestone carvers through the years are getting me interested! And as you stated, the sculptors talent is amazing in some of those sculptures! And the money they (deceased) had to afford those!
@@StacyL. yeah I am pretty sure that the guy making noise is not a devil or a bad person i think he has a mental disorder or a intellectual disability that makes him nonverbal or something similar.

These sculptures are beautiful. The devil man was interesting lol. I love watching all your videos from Italy hoping one day I’ll see a grave with the surnames of my father’s family who came from Italy. That would be pretty cool. 🙂
Stay safe Sir , as I know you will . I try to ignore the lunatics while still keeping an eye on them ..They sure have alot to restore there . Such a beautiful place , thank you for letting me tag along ..
I wonder why Genoa, in particular, contains such an amazing cemetery. It's not the largest or wealthiest city in Italy - perhaps because its wealth all went on extravagant funerary sculptures.
Wow what amazing sculptures and tombs. Thank you for sharing with us. BTW I'd love to know more about you too - do you live in Italy? Where else do you go for these amazing sites?
How did this cemetery survive WWII blanket bombing? This artistry is amazingly beautiful. I wish you could tell us more about whose grave it is or anything written about the person on the grave marker. If there are pictures of the person please zoom in on those, I'd like to see them.
To be fair it might have seemed as though you were following him for a while. I'm not meaning any disrespect but he walked away and you followed in the same direction.
Get some bear spray, if you have it over there. If you don't, either pepper spray or a DIY pepper spray . You can get a couple hot/spicy peppers, they dry them until they are the point where they crumble. Then add water and put in a small spray bottle. I don't know what your self defense laws are over there, but here my daughter and I both have keychains with MACE and small but very sharp survival knives. They are smaller than my fingers and legal here. Pennsylvania USA.

I’ve never seen anything remotely close to something like this, the detail is mind blowing! (then again, I’m in the US… the closest thing I can think of was a fast food joint in the 80’s called “Mr. Bees” where they built a honeycomb hive, and little bees made of pipe cleaners and shit into the table tops… yeah, it was pretty good 😂) This is the type of thing you should show people who think everyone in the distant past was an idiot… even if we can do something like this now, I can’t imagine how many people would it take, and the amount it would cost to make is a number I’ve probably never heard of! (and I’m talking about just one of those sculptures!)
I like it when you chat while showing us around these gorgeous places.
Really blown away by these magnificent sculptures. Thank you for showing us all X
Italians are phenomenal sculptors.. The busts and faces are so lifelike.
Hi Dan, beautiful place and amazing sculptures. Please be safe. I love walking thru cemeteries. The dead doesn't scare me, the living do.

I cannot fathom the cost THEN of the sculptures......amazing
Probably close to $5,000 then. Which would probably be close to $50,000-$100,000 now at a bare minimum.
Most likely a physical or mental condition. Not possessed.
