Even if they have different actors but they still pay respects to the OG voices by trying to be the same and the best they can be in honor of the OG actors I'll be fine with it.
The voices for Wolverine, Storm, Rogue, Beast, Mr Sinister and Nightcrawler have returned for the show. The voices of Cable, Gambit, Morph and Jubilee are also in it but have been recast as different characters

That game isn't based on the 97 show. It's based on the "Pryde of the X-Men" TV pilot that came out in 1989.

Nope. Gambit, Jubilee, Jean Grey, Cable, Xavier, Bishop, Morph, Kelly, Forge, and the Sentinels are all getting new VAs. Jean Grey's voice actress is now Jennifer Hale, who played the character in the X-Men anime, while Chris Potter (original Gambit) is now Cable. Gambit's new VA is AJ LoCascio, who is a voice substitute for Chris Pratt in the Jurassic World-era video games, Han Solo in recent Star Wars projects, and Lotor in Netflix's Voltron cartoon.

The original X-Men cartoon was infamous for bad animation in the beginning. It was first aired with unfinished animation, pulled off the air for several months until it was corrected.
Yeah, I still like The Days of Future Past arc in the cartoon than the live action movie though.

Aside for the notorious downgrade on the final season. Majority is still pretty good with the occasional offmodel stuff.
Not only that, but the art was ugly as sin compared to the comics and Batman the Animated Series.

I actually have some hopes for the show. The producer Beau Demayo stated a year ago that when he put the team together that the Main requirement to be hired is that you had to be a fan and liked the xmen. He was writing on witcher and saw how disastrous it is to have writers that dont know the subject material and disliked it.
I had those same hopes until this trailer. They made Rogue ugly with a flat chest and butt to "avert the male gaze". People who make decision like that are not to be trusted with anything.

Shame that Chris Potter isn't returning as Gambit. He's the only Gambit voice I actually liked.

All those poor bastards who only had the X-Men after the year 2000 when they became super lame and wore black leather will finally be able to know why the X-Men were so badass and everywhere before the 2000s.
With someone like me who's first exposure to the Xmen was the lame fox interpretations,with the single biggest Casualty associated with Fox's failed Character adaptations being Cyclops hands down.
I'm eager to see Cyclops establish himself as the True Leader of the Xmen he's always considered to be.

Even when he went shot by shot and compared it to the original he couldn’t find a substantial difference.
@@TezTheAztec Looks to me like most people who criticized the animation really doesn't know how animation is made. Animation has become more and more expensive to made because it's a very labor intensive procedure, and with tv animation there will be more limitation when it comes to budget and different animation studio have different pipeline. Even MAPPA was under scrutiny for overworking their animators during JJK season 2 production, and you can see the quality suffer. Sure, this trailer has some iffy scenes like the coffin low framerate, but those are probably just done for dramatic effects, the original show has more "drawings" but you can see how jerky the movements are. More animation frames doesn't equal better animation.

The main reason the animation isn’t the same and probably wouldn’t ever be the same is because it’s digital, not celluloid, and Disney isn’t as dedicated as a fan or indie animator would be to truly recreate the choppiness of old-school animation; the Disney show looks too fluid
Here's the thing, I think that the original series did not have the best animation, I think if anything they are trying to keep the animation looking similar. I do want to say that I am very excited because I was at the actual SDCC panel when they announced that X-Men 97' was coming, and to hear all the original creators talk so passionately about the show and how shocked they were when they were asked to continue the series, instead of replacing them with new people (something Disney seems to enjoy), its unheard of, and I have very high hopes for this show.
The original actually looked better in animation. It looked smoother. I think it is cause the original was hand drawn vs computer generated
@@rudra7615 that does make a big difference. Nothing can replace hand drawn animation. I didn't see enough of it to even know that it was CGI instead.

They have to tread a fine line between the original style and updating it enough for a modern palette. I really hope that this is good.
That Colossus action figure at the beginning, I freaking have that figure. I still have a box of all of the old action figures. Pretty much the only things I kept from my childhood.

I’m open to it. The guys in charge seem to have a passion for it. They even said they didn’t hire people to work on this unless they were fans of the original
Yeah they've also said tons of questionable crap in interviews since then such as the director/Producer saying, "When presenting the idea to Kevin he was interested in how my experiences as a gay black man will influence the storylines". They've also reportedly made Morph non-binary and changed his look from how he looked in the original. They're voice actors if not the same ethnicity as the character weren't brought back hence why Jubilee and some others have different voices.
Very excited for this. This was my first introduction to the X men growing up. Love your shirt Joe.

Haven’t watched y’all in years and was reminded why almost immediately.
Its been almost 30 years since it ended of course the animation will be different. They dont do the old school animations anymore but im glad they still have the same feel to it and not making it 2d/3d mix like most animated shows nowadays.
I think you’re remembering the animation of the original with rose colored glasses. The difference I think is the animation is cleaner.

I hope to God Disney pulls this off and gives us a worthy follow-up. X-Men the Animated series is the cartoon that defined my childhood. It's the reason I got into comics and have spent thousands on comics, statues, figures, etc, and why the X-men remain far and away my favorite team. Some of my favorite memories involve my dad waking me up on Saturday mornings, cooking me breakfast and watching the Animated series together. This is the only reason i'm willing to resubscribe to Disney+.
I agree on the animation. I've voiced that same comment a few times and people were attacking me like they worked on the show lol. And, while that is Wolverine's original voice actor, that line of this was off. It just didn't sound right. Cyclops replacement voice actor did a really good job, I thought. But the casket lowering and protestors stuff seemed too jittery.
Bro it just hit me that the theme song for this X-men cartoon is low key a sped up instrumental of Whitney Houston’s “I’m your baby tonight” song. 🤯

I doubt its "impossible" but its certainly not cost/time efficient, 3d stuff like you see here is easier.

Go look into some things Demayo said like when he talked about how he pitched it to Feige "Kevin was interested on how my experiences as a gay black man would effect the story". There's plenty of other stuff to indicate this likely won't go well. It's gonna be a continuation in name alone.

I gotta say, while i get Alex not wanting this, his reasoning of them just doing it to fill up their streaming service and not for love of the franchise is kinda silly. I mean most shows from the 90s and before, and even after, were usually created not for a love of the source material, but to sell toys. Like the x-men, he-man, tmnt, etc. That shit had one reason to exist, to sell merchandise. It just so happened that they made the shows GOOD to make people want to buy said merchandise.

i was along the same thought a show doesn't have to not be made to make money to be good they aren't mutually exclusive. much of the og classics obviously were all made to make money they just happened to brew the right amount of success like OG Spiderman, X-Men, Static Shock, Yugioh, Jackie Chan Adeventures, Justice League, hell even X-Men evolution was solid.

You're aware the original morph died in both the show and comics but the one in the new series is from the Age of Apocolypse maybe one of the top 5 storylines in the 90s, the new morph was a bit more op in the comics as well and in the series bad comic relief so kinda not a big deal

I’ve notice japan has been having a ‘ thin broken line phase.. that looks more and more like hand drawn.. vs the really thick bold lines this has..
as we said.. the line thickness of old cells is because of actual brushes, etc.. but this thick of lines make it look like flash animations.
My favourite animated series intro song is the 2003 TMNT theme song. But this X-men theme is up there with it.

Even with the voice actors per disney's rules the voice actor or actress has to be same ethnicity as the character. It's why Jubilee isn't the same voice actress. People are just going off early warning signs. Also if this is a continuation why change morph instead of keeping all the models the same. The whole reason for the show is to appeal to people's nostalgia not bring in new viewers.
