Did Hersheypark Actually FIX SKYRUSH? My Experience, July 2024

- Hersheypark FINALLY fixed Skyrush after a dozen years of leg torture. This was my return to the park in 2024 to experience my biggest coaster nemesis and see if it's any better now.

If there's one thing I've learned it's that whenever a park fixes a coaster to stop it from hurting people, there's *some* enthusiast out there who says they ruined it.
Trailblazer is my personal credit #1. It was pretty new at the time!
Unlike Skyrush, Hersheypark actually “fixed” trailblazer by making it MORE painful haha

Hershey sacrificed one of the most intense rides in the world for a bit of comfort. It’s no longer a other worldly intense ride. It’s an average intamin hyper now.

At 14:28, When I rode Comet this year, one of the ride operators saw me wearing an Iron Gwazi shirt, and told me that he used to work at that ride.

Skyrush was (and is) a very temperamental attraction. I have been riding it for more than 5 years now, and it is my most ridden coaster. Many of my rides have been underwhelming while many others have been absolute insanity, and I have found no connection to it having been A train vs B train or anything like that (aside from 2023). Whilst I personally preferred the older restraints, the new restraints do not totally kill the ride, and you can witness nearly the full force of the laterals by leaning forward. The real problem is the hydraulics within the restraints. Flying Aces does not apparently have the issue with them tightening similarly to 2nd gen RMC restraints, and therefore there is no thigh pain. If only Hershey had found a way to replace/fix the hydraulics instead. Glad you enjoyed your visit, and great video as always!

Hersheypark shows that it is not just quantity because they got 14 coasters and rival CP's 16.5 (TT2 is closed, so 1/2), SFMM's 20, and they beat Canada's Wonderland's 18 (soon 19), Energylandia's 19, SFGAm's 15, and Prater's 17

Dropping the Hershey Vlog on the same day my daughter and i finished our King's Island credits. What a topper to a fun day. (I need to go back and watch your rankings on KI to see where you put Timbers and Beast.) Beast was absolutely wild.
As for Hershey (my home park), its true Lightning NEVER wins. And im glad to see you (kinda) reconciled with Skyrush. Im a weirdo who actually liked the old restraints so...

Honestly a bit sad I wasn’t able to experience the old ones, so I could compare
I recently got on it too, imo its way better. after my first ride on that it felt like the restraints actually tightened while I was on it
I was (un)fortunate to experience the original restraints back in 2021, the week before the cable break, and I thought it had the second worst restraints I’d ever experienced.
I can’t wait to see how it rides now.

Hi! I really enjoy your videos, especially the vlogs, you are such a good dad and have such amazing, beautiful girls! Quality time with family doing something you love is the perfect combo. I agree with your Skyrush compliments on both the roughness and the slight upgrade of restraints. Also, Comet's complaints are real with the new trains, so you didn't miss out on much. I think Skyrush had an upgrade and Comet had a downgrade lol. Congrats to Sophie on 250 and I think Amy definitely deserves that Reese Cupfusion credit! Im with Sophie with Candymonium being #1 in the park! Hershey is awesome!! :)
Ooo the swing launch seats. Pantheon is super comfortable so i would imagine they will do wonders for skyrush
I went on a 10 day vacation to USA for my first time, and one of the days I had to go to Hersheypark. I got to ride every rollercoaster (Faerenheit and Storm Runner being my favourite ones) but I was sadly not able to ride Sky Rush...
I had my 'Don't Staple Me, Bro' shirt on at Kings Island last week and had several comments on it. :) I hope to get back to Hershey Park soon, I haven't been since Wildcat's Revenge was built
Take my advice: get to Knoebels at around 11am if you want to ride Flying Turns without waiting 2+ hours.
(No issues with wait times for Phoenix or Twister, but Impulse might be another to prioritize early.)

Never rode the original SkyRush, but if people are saying it’s “better” now, I can’t imagine how much I would hate it with the original trains 😅 but I agree, the inside seats are way more tolerable.
If you're not a big fan of these new trains, you may have loved the old ones. That's where I'm at, having experienced both. I thought the old ones were great, and had high hopes that the new ones would be even better. But I feel that the ride experience is worse with the new trains, at least for me.
I finally visited Hersheypark in June. It was awesome. Wildcat's Revenge is excellent. I got two rides on Skyrush. First one was pretty smooth. Second ride was very rough and gave me a headache. I also visited Dorney and Knoebels. Can't wait to see your videos.
Just wanted to let you know last time I went to great America raging Bull was giving borderline ejector airtime. It was running insanely well
As someone who loved the old restraints, because of how they has so much upper body freedom, and additionally I loved the coaster before (number 2/211 for me). Anyways still have to try the new restraints, and wildcat, but I’ve heard the new lapbars decrease the lateral insanity. Happy you finally can appreciate the ride even if I had no problems before. Switching the restraints was the right thing to do.

As for the lateral thing, I think you still get great laterals, they just won't feel quite as crazy, because the seats have a bit more lateral bracing. I've ridden Pantheon plenty of times, and if that's how the airtime and laterals on Skyrush feel, then it'll still be one of my favorite coasters.
I'm surprised you found skyrush so rough, I was there in May and rode back two rows both outside seat. I maybe felt a little rattle but it wasn't anything bad at all.

With my super busy schedule I tried to go to an amusement park once a year and I have been trying to get out to Hershey Pennsylvania just to experience Hershey Park. But my friends and family are not exactly coaster enthusiast which makes it so frustrating.
We stan Sophie. I rode trailblazer with my mom when i was sophie's age. Back then Wildcat was brand new.

Been WAITING for this for a year and I’m kinda shocked you still think WCR is mid tier! Fair enough opinion, I’m getting back to Hershey next week and I’m eager to see how Skyrush is now. Was beating me up on wing seats last year so I think that’s an age issue not track. Also Sophie has a point with Candy potentially being best in the park, it’s really really good and enjoyable.

Yes it did! It's my number one coaster of all time!
Skyrush stopped being my number 1 in 2022. I rode Fury 325, and that's been number 1 ever since. Wildcat's Revenge also put Skyrush in its place.
As I was watching this, and I was split between "I'd love to ride the coasters with Chris and Sophie" and "I'd love to ride the horses and Coco Cruiser with Amy". As you get older you learn to appreciate the gentler rides as well.

I rode skyrush for the first time this year and honestly it wasn’t great, the restraints were fine, it was also pretty smooth, but even after 11 rides (mostly in the back left or front) it wasn’t that good, it’s really short and doesn’t really do much
My wife HATED Skyrush but now it's one of her favorite coasters. They really corrected the problem this time! I am so happy.
Comet i think grew a programming problem when they swapped out the trains this year. The braking takes an eternity when the train comes back into the station. I think the new trains are lighter and the friction brakes expect it to be heavier, so its slowed way down, inching into the station. I havent ridden it since way earlier, cause yeah the wait times it gets are crazy, and its not worth it now between this and the removed buzz bars
Pretty happy with the new change. Its a lot more enjoyable in my opinion

Personally I loved skyrush’s old restraints a lot more but that’s the fun of the rollercoaster world, not everyone will have the same opinion

I went to Hershey for my first time this year. I love skyrush, rode in the back row on a wing seat. Drop is absolutely insane. I thought it was maybe a little shaky in some parts, but not really that bad. I don’t know what happened, but I hope it gets better.!
So I was a ride op at Hershey last year, and one day, I was working on the Scrambler when I noticed a Skyrush train making a horrible screeching noise when going by. I told rides base and the next day, that train was removed for the rest of the season. I like to believe that I may have prevented an accident because the screeching only happened in areas that the rush ops couldn't hear it
When I hear the handclaps for Skyrush it reminds me of Raging Bull in how it excites the home park crowd. I know every park has one, gimmie a break.

I LOVED this take on SkyRush. I rode it when it first came out and thought it was fine, but this year armed with my first season pass I found my first SkyRush ride of the season very uncomfortable on my legs. I've ridden twice since then and it wasn't as bad for whatever reason.
But Sophie is right, Candimonium is the best park in the ride!
Hersheypark is top on the list of parks I want to go back and visit again - went in 2020 when Storm Runner and Sooperdooperlooper were closed, but I still loved the park. Need to get back and ride those, plus the new changes to Skyrush and Jolly Rancher Remix, and Wildcat's Revenge of course
WCR is a front row ride imo. I wonder if your opinion would change after that experience? The unbanked turn and final brake run don’t hurt as much up there and you’re pushed through the inversions with more whip. Only thing back is better for is the drop out of the station and the drop off the lift
Ive come to realize I do not like RMCs in the front row, the shove-you-forward airtime just isnt my jam, the back has that great sustained lift-you-up air
did skyrush front seat wing, and middle of train wing, as a bigger guy I can enjoy it now without immense pain. Didn't get a center seat, didnt notice it being rough and still undecided if Sky Rush or Wild Cats Revenge is my favorite ride there. My daughters favorite was Storm Runner, this was the first year of her being 54"
Sophie has five times as many credits as I do. Guess that’s what happens if you live in the Pacific Northwest for most of your life…

I love watching your vlogs with the kids. I just finished my Hersheypark visit, and I'm now more on board with your feelings on Skyrush. I think I overrated it by a lot. The layout now didn't seem as good, and it seemed to run slower and more rattly. I don't like the new restraints as much. I can handle my legs getting crushed without any issue, but these new restraints were actually crushing my groin, which is worse. But the strong airtime will hold it up somewhat for me.
You didn't miss anything with Comet, as those new restraints totally ruined the ride. Great Bear was one that I had to skip, as its wait never was under 2 hours.
Sweet start is has mandatory as fast lane at cedar point if you want to ride everything in one day
I went on the new sky rush yesterday and it was WAY BETTER than when I went on it in 2021.
My brother and I sat on the Comet break run for 25 minutes when I visited in may. Absolutely abysmal operations.
I was there last week and i enjoyed skyrush for the first time in a while. I actually rode it twice!
Great vlog, just a nice vibe. Looking at those wait times just shows how the UK parks rip off their customers. 30 minutes for Candemonium! 90 minutes plus is kind of the norm at Alton Towers and Thorpe Park.

Hershey Park is so effin' frustrating. I've been to 78 different parks and there's only been 4 adult coasters that I can't fit on & 2 of them reside in this park, Storm Runner and Fahrenheit. They both look so good, oh well.

Rode it for the first time last month and thought it was really intense albeit short and there still was a noticeable rattle. Still was able to ride it 3 times in a day without a headache.
(P.s. Amy still got the credit, doesn’t matter if she slept through it)

Somehow I had a maximum wait time at 30 minutes on a Saturday (July 20) at Hershey, and I got to ride every coaster multiple times
It was weird, when I went the Candymonium sign said 90 minutes all day but it was like 10-15 minutes so I rode it 6 times.
@@wickedsickfunkyfreshroller2037 one time it said 120 minutes on the app for candymonium, but when i got there it was a walk-on 5 minutes max
Still haven't done the new version of Skyrush so no comment on the old vs new lapbars from personal experience. I loved the old version and I don't see how the experience could've changed much, I've heard good things from people who liked the layout but not the restraints and bad things from the superfans that still agknowlege some intensity is there so good business decision I guess. As for everything else I wish they would've stuck with the old atomic style logo as opposed to the new one, but the new neon lights are nice. I really miss the energetic woman who gave the "welcome to Skyrush" narration in early years (her voice had been replaced by last year).

Let me just say, used to be a big skyrush fan when it first came out. But since it's been aging really badly it feels like a car crash in every wrong way possible. At the bottom of the first hill I feels like ur hitting a 2 foot deep pothole at 70 mph.
You guys should’ve rode front on Storm Runner. It’s far smoother up front, and the airtime over the top hat is better

Just visited HersheyPark recently for the first time, so here's my thoughts on SkyRush:
Pros:
Incredibly strong airtime
First drop is nuts in the back
Fast and intense turns
Stengel Dive is good in the back
Cons:
Worst rattle I've felt on a steel coaster
Restraints staple you, claiming your airtime
Much weaker of a ride in the front, especially the Stengel Dive
Pretty short and the last stretch of track is literally autocomplete
Thoughts: It's good, but not THAT good like people say. The Thighcrush is really annoying (even if it doesn't hurt) and I can't enjoy the intense turns when they rattle my brain out. That means the only parts I really like are the airtime hills, but I'd rather ride Wildcat's Revenge for ejector. Lands at 38/163 in my rankings, which is pretty good, but not great for a ride like this.
Thoughts on other coasters:
1. Wildcat's Revenge: Insanely good! Incredibly paced with some awesome elements. Surprised to rank it higher than LRod and Twisted Timbers as my 3rd favorite RMC, but here we are. It even hauls in the morning, which is crazy. 5/163
2. Candymonium: Awesome B&M hyper. Still like Mako & Goliath more, but this one is still really good. Love the speed hill and wave turn for variety. The best part is that 5-second airtime hill at the start. 12/163
3. Fahrenheit: Great ride with a good mix of forces. Not crazy about the restraints, but they could be much worse lol. 30/163
4. Storm Runner: Great ride with an insane launch, top hat, and flying snake dive, but not much else. It does rattle too. 31/163
5. SkyRush (see above)
6. Great Bear: One of my lower ranked inverts, only because it only has 4 inversions. If it had more, it'd be higher, as this is a great ride with good forces and a nice setting. Still better than Apengeist. 43/163
7. Lightning Racer: Has some good airtime and classic GCI twists, but not as wild as some other GCIs. I really like the dueling aspect, but it does jackhammer the whole way through, which is getting closer to unbearable. 58/163
8. Jolly Rancher Remix: Good Boomerang, theme is cool, and you don't get headbanging. It's a little shaky, but not bad. 90/163
9. Laff Track: Fun ride, but I only rode once and it didn't spin. Idk if it does, but until I get a good spinning ride on it, I can't put it that high. 102/163
10. Sooperdooperlooper: Solid classic ride. Still smooth and fun, with a good setting. 111/163
11. Wild Mouse: Actually wild! The lift was on high speed and it was mostly untrimmed, so you fly around the turns and even get some airtime. I came back to ride this, it was that good of a mouse. 112/163
12. Comet: Wow this was underwhelming. There were maybe 3 good airtime moments on the whole ride. The rest was dull. And I'm unusually light! It was also somewhat rough too. No jackhammering, but the bumps were all over the place. Now my least favorite woodie other than Cheetah. 129/163
13. Trailblazer: It's decent, but too short for a mine train. If it had a 2nd section it would be one of the better ones. 130/163
14. Cocoa Cruiser: I like these Gravity Coasters (the newer ones, aka NOT Howler). They send you around a few times and give some good laterals. Otherwise, it's just a janky kids coaster lol 142/163
Double checking, did you ride the wild mouse?
I think Skyrush is the best coaster in the park but it does have its rough patches. Also, if there were no trim brakes on Candymonium then that second half would be so much better!!
Omg Sophie and Amy are getting so old. I swear just last week Sophie was only riding kiddie coasters and Amy was like 6 months old collecting train credits. I was shocked seeing Amy talking in this video
Trailblazer was closed for several weeks last summer so you may have missed it because of that. Glad to hear WCR is still running great!

Went to Hershey on August 2nd, and the lines were awful. All the estimated wait times were double what the app was saying. Didn't even get a chance to ride Skyrush, but atleast I got back row on Wildcat's Revenge.

Great adventure was first to lead into my documentary even tho that was right in the middle of my trip. Trying to post the most relevant/popular vlogs first so I'm not sitting on them for months. Kings Island/Beast at night is next followed by my comeback to American Dream. The only one I'm saving for last is Dollywood which WAS our last trip and where Sophie hit 300
