Day in the Life of a Software Engineer Co-op at Faire

  • Just finished my 16-week internship as a Frontend Engineer at Faire, an online wholesale marketplace empowering small business owners and independent brands to buy and sell wholesale online.
It was an amazing experience where I learned a lot and worked with fantastic people! My favourite part of the internship was getting to take ownership over several customer-facing features. It was extremely rewarding to see the impact of the features on key business metrics!
Most of my time was spent building new features with React + TypeScript + MobX, but sometimes I was fixing bugs, refactoring code, or investigating abnormal user trends.
I was on the Retailer Growth team which aims to acquire new retailers and encourage them to place their first order.
    Faire is hiring: www.faire.com/...
This was definitely the video I spent the most time and effort on, so I really hope you enjoy :)

This is an exact "Day in the life of a software engineer" video. It's factual and covers entirely everything that goes throughout an actual working day. You should do a follow-up video for Mbrilla (Uber for Umbrellas). I always watch this video whenever I feel I need a good laugh

    1. Thinking fast and slow - Daniel Kahnemann and co.

Thinking fast and slow is a great recommendation. Having read not completely but almost 50-60% of that book, it helps you understand a lot about your thought processes.
It feels as if the Nat Geo Show Brain Games was based on this book as a lot of experiments corelated with the experiments in the book as well

You should do "Day in the life of a software engineer but no bs"
    1. Wake up half ass at 9am still in PJ
    2. make breakfast at 10am (legit just a sandwhich and tea)
    3. prepare for the stand up meeting (actually stand up so it doesn't look like im half dead)
    etc...
    X. Since I coded all day I am not going to touch code.
    X. Go to sleep at 4am cause the boys are online playing League.
