Embark on an epic journey across war-torn 19th-century Japan in this combat-focused open-world action RPG from Team NINJA, the veteran studio behind Nioh and NINJA GAIDEN.
Japan, 1863. After three centuries of the Tokugawa Shogunate’s reign, the Black Ships of the West descend upon the nation’s borders and the country falls into a state of turmoil. Amidst the chaos of war, disease and political unrest, a nameless warrior forges their own path, holding the very fate of Japan in their hands.
As a masterless samurai - a Ronin - your destiny is your own. See the story unfold in different ways depending on the choices you make and the characters you ally with along the way. Face critical mission decisions, like whether to assassinate or protect key figures, and shape the course of history through a rich multi-choice system.
The “Bakumatsu” period heralds the end of the Shogunate as a new era begins and East and West collide. Experience this cultural revolution across an open world where you’ll meet the key figures who’ll shape the course of history, and the ordinary citizens seeking a guiding light in the darkness.
From the veteran developers of Nioh and NINJA GAIDEN, Rise of the Ronin offers deeply engaging yet accessible combat with layers of complexity suitable for any playstyle. Face your foes with a selection of close-quarters weaponry or engage from afar with authentic period firearms.

The open world of this game is the main reason I don’t play Assassin Creed. I guess someone must enjoy doing laundry list but the review score says the majority of players hate it.

I am very excited for the setting mainly . 19th century Japan is mostly unexplored in games and regardless of the review I will be playing it ! Thanks for the update CB
I am excited for this and Dragon’s Dogma. I think Team Ninja made a mistake releasing this the same day as DD2…
HUGE mistake, not even gonna bother with Ronin now that we got DD2 on deck, gonna buy it when its on sale eventually.
Well regardless of its bad moment for a release date this game looked pretty generic from the get go. It wouldn't have changed much if it were to be released in May. A mediocre game is a mediocre game in the end.
That's such a stupid decision to release on that day. Come on.
@@NBag-ni4ownah it would’ve definitely made a difference, no competition means more eyes and people wanting to play the game because nothing new to compete with
@@jackjohnson8305finally a man that sees what i see. A B rate game whos asking top$ price tag
Appreciate you gave it a long chance after 25 hours... you are a lot further in the storyline than i am after 22 hours. Im happy with the game and think it is fun. Reminds me of something like days gone where it also got panned for graphics performance as a ps 1st party release. That game was well worth it for me and this reminds me of that. I have loved team ninja games since doa2 and ninja gaiden xbox...
I know they're two very different games. But after playing them and knowing what you know now. What game would you recommend I play first dragon's dogma 2 or rise of the Ronin? I'm not going to delete this text to show how much of an idiot I am. But I obviously should have watched the video before asking that question😅
If you can deal with the performance being hit or miss, DD2. If not, and if you like TN games enough that just getting another one (even if it’s middling) sounds good, then RotR.
If you go RotR first then you also get the benefit of giving Capcom more time to do some fixing before you get around to it.
Ok, so I bought DD2 and played the mess out of it. Now I'm debating on whether or not to pick up RotR. Is this a wait for a sale type of game? It looks interesting I'm just unsure about going ahead and jumping in.
Sometimes it feels like reviews (bad/good) have an unfortunate domino effect where people start to dislike a game because someone else has disliked it. I have 20 hours in and absolutely love the game. Also the combat feels very rewarding and dexterous after I’ve got a hang of it. I appreciate your opinion tho.
Seems obvious why he put this game down compared to the other game that was released on the same day.
I don’t know if that is the case, most probably not. The thing that frustrates me is peoples tendency to take an individual review as an universal fact and spread it as one while it is something that depends on variety of factors if a game (or anything else) is enjoyable for someone.
its one of my new favorites
@@Ilukki thats why people always need to experience it and make there own opinion. I sometimes catch myself doing what you just said recently with dd2 but i bought it and enjoy it
@@James-nf7qsyeah I followed CB and got dogma. Game is a letdown for me. Regret getting it. Open world with minimal fast travels was the killer for me. Downloading ronin now. Lol I don’t even care about the mtx, game runs okay, but the back tracking with no fast travels is absolutely insane. Just did a quest, took me 10 minutes to get to the quest point then it told me to go back to get the book since I deposited it back at camp cuz storage space is dogshit. I just noped out. I’m done lmao
First thing i noticed was the combat tutorial and the fact that you dont see all the weapons you have equipped on your character like in TN other games. The weapons being visible isnt a major thing but it had a charm to their games especially when your character would flick the blood off when sheathing weapons. Here your character doesnt do that. To me this doesnt have the TN feel it feels like some interns who just graduated came in and made this
There is a ki generating mechanic involved in flicking the blood off, so no, it doesn't happen automatically and there is a benefit to it.
Idk how big TN is but maybe they've overextended themselves? This is their 4th game in 5 years.
In terms of graphics, I think this color palate is supposed to portray the tone of the time period. A kind of to something like GTA IV. But damn that horse got a fuckin log up his ass.
What is a "tone of a time period"? Did the sky and the grass have different colour in the Edo period? It just looks so flat and lifeless.
@@Sm0ku12 Yeah, didn't you know that the Meiji Restoration was heavily defined by its iconic washed out greens and browns?
@DarkBrandon24 yeah i saw an old picture of my parents It was in black and white this is the color palate of the 60s everything was in black and white at that time.
The horse animation is terrible. Had you shown me just a 10-second clip of it running up a hill, & asked me which system I thought it hailed from, I'd have guessed PS3
The colors and the way trees have different styles make this world look way better than any I've seen before
TN should really have focused on making Nioh 3.
Open world version hopefully and I think that is going to be there next game because there sells are not doing good since nioh 2
@@pepeold1074 yeah i think nioh's aesthetic and enemy design would have been really cool and unique for an open world

@@omega458 yeah they are doing too much with the loot that's for sure but that wouldn't be that big of a problem if they had better loot filter and made the loot actually mean something
Good to see your opinion cowboy it’s unfortunate that you didn’t enjoy it as much. From everything I seen it looks ill enjoy this game. My only disappointment is the open world exploration but that’s probably because we’ve gotten so many games that do it more organically.

Aight, this comment needs a longer thread. Gintama is life.
Absolutely..
@@Ginyasha-I agree but I’ll add that he is also the afterlife
Cheers for the review… you confirmed what I saw from some gameplay vids. From the trailer I hoped for either a modern open world “way of the samurai” or a Tsushima comparable. Instead it looks like an watered down open world sakiro. I’ll try it, but not until much later.
Having a *Nioh, but open world* would’ve been incredibly unique and differentiated Rise of the Ronins open world significantly from the general Ubi open world style. So it doesn’t make much sense why they took every single note from Ubisofts book?
I expected them to do what Fromsoft did with Elden Ring, where they essentially did *Dark Souls, but open world* which provided players with a unique gameplay experience amongst the AAA market.
Never expected this much hand-holding from a company like Team Ninja. When I saw the map markers, I said “oh, yeah.. I know what this is” lmao
I’ll have to play it for myself to see whether or not this will be the first Ubi-inspired open world I will like since Far Cry 3. I hope this game is incredibly successful so they put those resources into something like Nioh maybe. From the outside perspective, it seems like TN aren’t bold or ambitious enough to attempt a game like this
If this game is incredibly successful they probably keep pushing more of this type of games, so I rather see it flop.
@@jukka1135 this
Unfortunately, if this game is incredibly successful, we likely won't be getting Nioh 3 but Rise of the Ronin 2.
@@phrozacTo be fair, I don't think we will be getting another Nioh game either way...They seem to be done with that series, at least until it has been long enough for them to reboot it or something...
Team ninja just don't have the capability to make an open world game.
the biggest problem for me apart from graphics quality is color palette, dude everything looks so dull, its like you are playing an mmorpg from 2010 or something
@@CheckmateStallioNsame color palette as GoT lol. Nioh 1 and 2 are dark gray pale slop fests so idk what you’re complaining about
I was thinking exactly the same ... i mean look at it ... its screaming : 2008's MMORPG alllll over the place ... look at Fromsoft they also never have THE BEST state of Art graphics BUT they always have incredible art design .... Nioh 2 also didnt have topnotch graphics BUT a fantasy world & artdesign with an awesome color palette
I actually like it.

How are the boss fights? Any that are particularly challenging or unique?
@@Tollgrinder282😂😂😂😂 just hearing Mathew Perry being a boss is hilarious
Yes. There are bosses that will kick your ass. some will switch weapons on you to counter your current style as well forcing you to switch your play style. Some will even do the typical "ambush" and have allies assist them. it's a fun game. the hate for it is just unreal to me.
@@27Bayleefs People don't "hate" it, they just feel like the game is extremely mediocre. It doesn't do anything particularly well. It's like a quintessential 5 or 6 out of 10 game.

Love when you keep these in.
Thanks cowboy these are always helpful for me deciding to get games. Much appreciated
I am curious as to whether or not you were able to unlock the character switching aspects of the game or the dojo that lets u fight bosses again? I noticed that you didn't cover as many features as the Fextra life review
He said in the video that he didn’t finish it. So thats probably why.
@@omegaxtrigun you don’t need to finish the game to switch characters. It’s introduced in the first hour
Amazing review. Really helpful to me. I still hope that I will really like it. Just going to wait until it is a little cheaper to purchase.
I don't know if it is sad or brilliant that I have to study big releases in order to decide which ones I can afford. Soooo many good looking games, but they cost too much for me nowadays. Back in the 90s, and early 2000's I would buy everything I fancied playing (they were cheaper, perhaps I had a little more time, but the real thing was that there was alot less to choose from).
They weren't cheaper though, but everything else in life definitely was. We had more money (generally speaking) to just spend on entertainment than we do these days, thanks to poor leadership in most western countries. Not that eastern countries have "great" leaders, but at least they're doing better financially, educationally, and culturally.
Even as early as the Genesis days, there were brand new games that were $70, so pricing hasn't really changed much tbf. But I get what you mean though, it was easier to splurge on games
@@ricardodarcangelo2437 Yes mate, I totally agree. Pricing pretty much stayed the same for a long time, only recently has our pricing in the UK been hiked by about 50% on initial release, which isn't bad considering I am talking 30-40 years. It's just that I would only want to buy perhaps 2 AA/AAA style games a year because there were less to choose from. I am currently holding a wishlist of at least 10 (Yakuza Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth just ordered because on sale, but still need to buy DLC for NG+). Hence I wait for sales, and massive price reductions. This means I don't generally get the one I really want at any given time, and have to rely on reviews more. I meant to say, it's kind of a good problem to have.
I was wondering where the assassins creed reference came from but you cleared that up
The power of reviews from reliable sources. Man Dragons Dogma wasn’t on my radar at all as I’m a Team Ninja loyalist but heck I just may wait until this goes on sale and try something new
Being loyal to a company.. lol
@@theobell2002 I think he meant "enthusiast", otherwise, yeah...
The mainline reviews are decent for the game the problem is most people were expecting this to be a Ghost of Tsushima part 2
@@davidmcnally6791Who in there right mind thought this was going to be anything like Ghosts? I sure thought it'd be like a Nioh, Sekiro, but way cooler based off first footage a year or 2 ago.
It’s so weird how folks see combat.. cowboy is saying this is boring, and I’ve been trying to play dragon’s dogma da, and the combat in that is boring, and the sequel seems the same! Monsters with multiple health bars to me, is plain boring too. A boss that has a few phases it makes sense, that they’d have two or three health bars, but not every big creature. I’d buy this game in a heartbeat if i owned a ps5.
That combat does look very Nioh to me. And loot? I may pick this up.
Wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle can applied to so many of the new-gen AAA games
Can you cancel your attacks to instantly parry?
Yes
I never thought this game was going to be a down grade to Wo Long lol
That's my thoughts exactly! How did we go from Nioh, to Nioh 2, Wo Long, to THIS!
@@iiisixstringiii8285 wo long is a sad sekiro clone
@@JKnoppAOf course it’s nowhere near Sekiro, but I thought it was a pretty damn good game
This game is already better than Wo Long and closer to Nioh than Wo Long. Both games still don’t come close to Nioh 2 Remastered’s overall quality
One thing I disagree with is that Team Ninja wasn't known for pushing graphics.
Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive always pushed visuals and gameplay. It was with Nioh people started saying that and it of make me sad that expectations and standards are lowered for TN.
This. Doa and Gaiden were right there with most of the games of their time. In many instances, way ahead. This shit looks like temple run. Graphics do not make a game. But goddamn...I could not sit and look at this shit on my TV in 2024.
the problem with the rock paper scissor stance system, it that it seems more like busywork than a complex combat system.
Your gripes with the combat seem weird to me.
I feel that the reason the enemies eventually get super armor is, so you don't get a free kill out of a single parry. You are supposed to use your skills during that time to maximize efficiency. Then you take a step back and give room for another interaction.
Agreed - elsewhere I have heard many people say the combat is great
Im going to wait until this is on PS Extra.. going with DD2 on PC tomorrow.
Combat was my issue with Wo Long...I was really looking forward to this game, I loved both Niohs... maybe if I get too bored one day I'll check it out, but not today, it's a shame...keep up the good work Cowboy 👍🏿
If you have the choice between Rise of the Ronin and Lie Of P. Which one will you take?
Neither 🤣
That’s a bad take
Both games are fine, but neither make it into a "i can only pick one". There's a ton of other titles I'd choose over them. Hell after playing the Stellar Blade demo I'd put the gameplay easily ahead of both based on the limited 90 mins i spent alone.
That Gintama mentioned surprised me
Always knew cowboy was one of us
39h playtime and i barely touched the story. It's a really good game if you actually like samurais. Me personaly, the stances, the outfits (wonderful kasa), even the chiburi gives me joy. Also if we are going to compare to GoT, i think there is more depth, more tools, more weapons, more variety to the gameplay. The world of GoT is pretty but gets boring due to lack of activities. RoR is a solid classic japanese rpg game.
Not gonna lie, you didnt even talk about the 5th tree which is the breakthrough and how you get the extra styles in them at all either. Im very confused on what you did in this game tbh when you dont even have 4 accessories unless this is just way early footage of your playthrough.
I was 20 hrs in and that hadn't unlocked. I had already played more than enough to determine it wasn't for me.
Ya seems like I’m going with DD2 after I finish rebirth, wait for this to hit a sale or replay Ghosts again 😅
"Accessibility mode" so the one button full combo isn't mandatory?
Its an option, are you still just press one button You do it multiple times with accessibility off

Meh, im still gonna get it. I enjoy an open world game with a japanese cultural element
My thoughts exactly.
@@GodWarsXsame here. Game looks dope and immersive and cool ash Idk why he’s complaining cause nioh 2 is also spam square, switch stance, spam square, repeat.
The devs also said the combat they weren't aiming for a nioh experience but that's one of the biggest slams on the game, the fact that the combat isn't nioh 2.
@@tylerthornhill3197 I get the systems good and all but why are you guys so reliant or like obsessed on it? This isn’t nioh 3 so why can’t you enjoy it for what it is? It’s only slam cause ur so focused on it NOT being like nioh.
@@The-Legend-of-P I agree with you, I was saying that gripe with the combat is the biggest knock when the devs said it wasn't suppose to be like nioh. I don't get the hate and I'm playing this before DD2 cause I actually heard the performance for that game is a mess

This seems like nioh-lite and honestly i might try it. I beat nioh but it never really vobed with me so i might grab this if/when it goes on sale and see how i like it.
The combat actually looks really fun.
I agree. People expects so much overhaul because of chasing that fix. I for one pre ordered it regardless of what people think riding that negative train. Seems that’s what many people focus on these days
it looks very scripted and simplified.
It actually looks not very fun to me.
It actually looks very fun to me
I had fun with Nioh and Nioh 2. Wu long I played the demo but didn't really appeal to me. The Chinese setting was not that interesting. Nioh games on the other hand took me a lot of time to learn and adopt because of how interesting the setting was. At least they should have kept that setting at least myths mixed with real history. Also the combat was wonderful. Killing human enemies were pretty easy but the real fun was fighting with Oni
Sekiro really influenced team ninja in a bad way. Would really be a shame if they try to implement the Sekiro style parry system again in Nioh 3.
They already had it with katanas in nioh.
IMO what they did in Wo Long, even if it still felt kinda unfinished at some points, was really interesting and fun, IMO on a second game and with more improvements it would be really good. This on Ronin though, not looking so good sadly..
There is nothing wrong with sekiros combat, the problem is that sekiros combat was fluid, niohs combat was anything but fluid. You had so many combos and enemies with cheap attacks. Sekiros combat doesn't work well with Nioh style games. This is still a nioh game based on the enemies. It will not feel as fair and fluid as sekiro.
@@NaregChakhbasian nioh 2 literally had one of the best combat systems I've ever played. You're chatting wass
@Oknahidwin I agree, my point was sekiros combat does not fit with niohs.
this makes me wanna get dragons dogma, at least there im not expecting the combat to be in depth, I keep saying it, I dont understand how we went from ninja gaiden to this, i cant believe that back in the day I had the nerve to say that NG didnt offer enough combat variety compared to DMC when it comes to creating custom combos, I never would have thought that Team Ninja would dumb down their combat all the way down to, just press square it to do the only combo and top off that allowing you to switch stances which makes you think that you can combing those to create your own combo routes but in reality because of the combat system it wouldnt make sense to swtich for that reason
Bro you get it. I don’t know wtf happened to them but Nioh 2 did make me think oh shit they are back on form with the combat but now they’ve dropped 2 stinkers back to back
@@joesheridan9451 ooohhh how we were mislead by this video man man man, I decided to get the game anyway not for the combat, because I gave up on that, I got it just because of the setting, but to my suprsise the combat started opening up and wooow the combat is insane! You just have to find the right weapons and stances to combine and some knowledge how to seemlessly blend them and this does take time, like dont expect anything major under 25 hours.. it picks up slow at first but when it's there, it keeps throwing more and more at you, there a lot of other games out now and around to corner, so the timing be bad but trust me, eventually you gonna wanna pick this up
@@CinematicTactics Interesting, I did kind of hope/think surely that will be the case. As a man of culture who likes DMC and NG I'll take your reccomendation
Is there samurai armor in the game or is it just robes?
Yes, along with western armor, coats kimonos, you name it and you can mix and match them and choose how you look regardless of armor stats, it's amazing.
Thanks for the review Cowboy, love your channel. I bought this day one and have been loving it. I do really enjoy AC and Nioh, and the combination of the two feels right to me. So far, this is a winner for me.
I couldnt help but disagree with your comments on the combat being bad or meh...the combat has insane depth and i feel like you kept it very surface and basic level...when you learn more advanced stuff like cancels, timing etc the combat becomes almost limitless

I really love darksouls/ering combat, give me light and heavy combos with chargeable options, I'm super happy - sekiro was really nice for the parry mechanic - lords of the fallen was REALLY nice with the fluid combos between light and heavy attacks, as well as switching 1 and 2 handed
ghost of tsushima was my favourite with the different stances and combos that could be made between those stances, it was really a game changer for me
if a system was able to combine these, light and heavy combos that go seamlessly between 1 hand or 2 hand WITH chargeable options... throw in some different stances... throw in some decent parry mechanisms... man this would be so good. tbh I'm kind of surprised no game has really done this yet, I feel like ghost of tsushima/ering/sekiro were all mega successful, it only seems natural that a game would combine the best of these, this would be realllll nice

Still playing Rebirth. I will get DD2 after but I will still play Ronin after few months, grab it on some sale
Gotta give Team Ninja credit for experimenting and trying out new things with their combat systems. They don't always work, but I like that each game they put out is slightly different from one another. I like the way the combat felt in Wo-Long. Making the parry a separate button from the block actually created an interesting choice the player was forced to make where an unsuccessful parry came with more risks.
This looks like a game that was trying to blend Ghost of Tsushima and Sekiro, plus past titles by team Ninja, but fell short when compared to them because those titles all do everything this game does but way better.
Concerning the visuals, for a game with such a long dev time, 9 years, I bet it was intended as a PS4 title. I mean, it looks like a PS4 game.
Reviews for the game seem mixed though it still looks interesting enough to check out myself. I'll wait for a possible PC port though so I can play with all the bells and whistles at a smooth 60fps.

I had to decide to pick 2 between Dragons dogma2, stellar blade, and rise of the ronin. Im pretty sure im picking Dd2 and Stellar Blade.
I keep hearing about stellar blade but I don't understand the hype. I haven't looked at it too much.
@@MacDibs go look at it RN! Trust me
@@MacDibs it looks graphically one of the best games coming out or out recently in my opinion and it just is a super cool story. Idk I'm just really digging the gameplay trailers and they've been pretty transparent about the game
After having cleared the first region, I'm not particularly happy with the combat in Rise of the Ronin. As you mentioned, it's about getting the perfect parry off. To make that harder all enemy attacks (but chain attacks) have this stupid "charge up" or even a retarding moment during the animation. It's more about knowing the particular animation than a well-timed parry. Just played GoT again and feels so much better and natural. Easier maybe but WAY more fun. Can't wait to play that again in May on PC.
Everyone wants you to be honest until you’re not
This truly my worst timeline. I wanted the rock paper scissors stances gone from Ghost of Tsushima, not added to more games :(.
What? That’s one of the best aspects of Ghost of Tsushima and Nioh. No stances in Wo Long made the game feel so boring
@@christopheryanez I want stances like in Nioh 2, not stances like in Ghost where it's just rock paper scissors.
Idk, i do enjoy collecting kodama and stuffs in Nioh and Wolong, but all ubi open world kind games just don't have it for me, i can literally die of boringness playing any ubi game or ubi game alike games, however enjoyed most ubi games released before maybe 2012 tho, after that ubi has been dead for me and it's kinda sad.
Imma play it anyway but after dd 2 but man come on what are those diffrent from those shity side quets from chadley in ff 7 r
It is funny tho bc I was planning on getting this first bc I am a big team ninja fan but I got no money for both of em so I needed to decide and bc the fist dd was on sale I tried it and I love it can't stop playing tbh so my choice was to pre order DD2 and after your dd 2 review I am sure that I made the right choice
Speaking of choices they made an awfull choice of pitting this against dragons dogma 2 it it would be earlier or later thr game would get much more attention I'm sure
bro fextra took this personally and put 'ignore the haters' in the reviews thumbnail
The game is not bad. Even tho Dd2 is superior, at least it came without mtx and 60 fps. Also, he said idk for who is this game, I believe it's for casual people who want to enjoy a generic open world (which is not bad) and at the same time have a way better combat system than all the ACs. People talk shit about open worlds but really there aren't many who nail the combat
@@gabrielgutierrez6086 yeah the more i looked at it the more it got better tbh. obv if you compare it to nioh 2 it'll fall short but for what it is its okay
@@jaypay2859 Noah is garbage, this game is amazing
Fextra is shady af. Wouldn't trust their perspective on anything.
Well Fextra straight up has stolen guide info and things like that from cowboy in the past iirc. And they are scummy in general
The setting choice is 10/10 and the game does look enjoyable but idk something is very clearly missing.
I actually played the game now I take back what I said not missing anything game is solid.
Bro ain't nothin about this game 10/10. This shit is a the L of the year.
@@j_5_name 3 10/10 games
@@j_5_I guarantee you haven’t even played it
@@SavageGameHawk elden ring, ocarina of time, red dead redemption 2
@chiefinasmith I played about 25 minutes of it at my boys house. Absolute dog shit.
Cowboy which of the two games launching tonight should I play first?. .which game you played first of the two?
from what i understand... DD2 is more fun/newer feeling. he straight said that ghost of tsishuma does what this game does...but WAY better. plus half the review is negative for this one. 🤔 so probably dd2
DD2 all the way. And I was originally gonna get ROR and avoid DD2. That 100% flipped.
Ronin = Casual fun game
DD2 = not for casuals but rewarding in its exploration and combat.
Cowboy, had you not had to play/review Dragons Dogma 2 just prior to this review, do you think your review score/ experience with this game would be different?
100%
Exactly my thoughts too. Releasing it alongside DD2 has really hurt this game.
He had a week with this game before dd2 so no
The words "i haven't finished this and I dont think i will". Is all you really need to know. I'll quietly sit and hope thst one day we get Nioh 3 as im still playing the hell out of 2.
Dude don't listen to that it's complete bs. The game is addicting as hell. Imagine nioh and wo long had a baby. It's freaking amazing. I can't stop playing. Each weapon has 16 moves, there's different weapons than wo long and nioh had. This game freaking rocks. Don't listen to the haters. If you like TJ this one will blow your mind
I think its good that they tried something different, different is neither good nor bad but it certainly means not the same, hopefully in the future they can iron things out and it will all come together better.
This game was supposedly in development since 2015. That’s a big investment of resources and time for it to be this disappointing.
Yeah I'll be passing on this one for now, maybe bargain bin it later. It's a bit disappointing because I was hoping this was on the level of Nioh.
I'm not too disappointed because the trailers for this game have always given me Assassin's Creed x "Ghost of Tsushima at home" vibes. Cowboy just confirmed it for me.
What does “Ghost of Tsushima at home” mean?
@@Galaka100mom said we have McDonald’s at home
We have Ghost of Tsushima at home LOL. That's a hell of a line. Sale it is when I'm bored in the future.
I’ll probably pick it up if they do a pc port like the past games
Man. Looks like Dragons Dogma 2 is getting played first. Might pick this up on sale in the future
I mean….this game actually looks pretty good. Maybe you just aren’t personally wanting a game like this now
I think that's it. If you want open world Nioh 3, this game isn't it. If you want a more Ghost of Tsushima style game with a team ninja twist, this is it.
@@YeetForTheStars ghost of tsushima is waaaay better than thhhis trash lmao
@@irefuse2stop k
It looks mediocre at best.
@@MarkHogan994”looks” - so you haven’t played it. Got it
I usually agree with all your reviews but definitely not here. I nearly skipped the game after watching this but I bought it and oh man, I love it so far. Maybe because my expectations were lowered but I don't understand the negativity towards this game. I am a Souls veteran and I love a challenge, this is difficult still and a good challenge for me. You say it's basically just pressing square but I just die all the time just doing that, it's much more about parrying like Sekiro with combo's, stance changes and dodging like Souls. The combat is fast, fun and very challenging. When you string a great combo together along with parry's it feels amazing to play.
I kept hearing that the graphics are PS3 quality and this is crazy to me as I think it looks great with nice weather effects etc, sure it's not up there with the top top PS5 games graphically but maybe late PS4 but saying PS3 is ridiculous and I think people are forgetting what PS3 games looked like :) Maybe the patches have upgraded them.
The horse animation isn't great though this is true but now I am playing it, it doesn't feel as bad as people are making out an it's only to get from A to B and not a massive issue for me. The world is great to explore and which open world games don't have repetitive tasks let's face it?? and as long as you enjoy the gameplay then it's fine and I really enjoy it. I feel like a complete bad ass when playing it and pulling off a big combo with some perfectly timed parry's and then spinning and chopping their heads off :)
You also don't mention the co op aspect of the game and this is super fun with a friend. I actually prefer the combat to Nioh personally
Yeah, CB seemed quite out of character on this one, his skill issue impacting on his gameplay experience tbh, he cant even parry telegraphed attacks anymore yet shits on this game
@@TuuguuSMDit just mentions, it’s not like Nioh it’s not like Nioh, Nioh Nioh Nioh. Well this is a completely different game and it’s more parry based like Sekiro. I’ve just watched the first part of the playthrough and he seemed to die a lot more here than on Nioh so it obviously is a challenge, it’s just not the same combat.
There is a lot more to the combat than he is saying , when using combos with parry as well as stance changes and using your grapple too. You can chain all this together along with the R1 blood off your sword move that gives you Ki back to carry on your combo. There is a lot to this game and I love it
I kinda get the feeling most of this is about it not being as challenging, or as deep combat wise as the Nioh games, which I personally didn't like even though I love tough games like Souls and Elden Ring. Nioh was just too much for me so I like the look of the combat here. The graphics and world will probably bother me a bit though. I want to try this but maybe later on in a sale and after some patches
Difficulty to choise For One to complete nioh 2 and wolong?
I’m conflicted. I think many people are wanting this to be Nioh 3 when it never tried to be. At the same time, you expect engaging combat from a Team Ninja game and it seems like this isn’t hitting for fans of TM. I’m really wondering who this game was made for.
My eyes told me this.
Ty for the CONFIRMATION.
