Whenever I see these landscapes I imagine the early settlers crossing that terrain. Brave or crazy- or both, certainly tenacious. We don't know we're born these days in comparison!

Mark, thank you for the incredible video of Cerro Gordo and the Burro Schmidt Tunnel. I was worried for you in that mine...you sure are a brave Irishman!!
Thank you very much for your kind words. I suppose I never thought about it like that, I don't feel brave, just the overwhelming feeling of excitement and adventure, and, if I'm honest, the freedom of it. I feel like everything we do these days is bubble wrapped. No this though!
What a great adventure seeing BRENT and the town and the bonus of going to some MINE's ⛏️🏆p.s I also see you are in to racing bikes i'am from wash state close to where Steve Baker in 1977 from Washington State he was the first world championship formula 750 title of Grand Prix racer first place check them out Steve Baker great guy thank you for your video keep those two wheels on the ground 🏆⛏️
Mark, your video is absolutely beautiful, expertly edited and has the perfect soundtrack! Thank you so much for sharing your incredible day trip with TH-cam. I am so glad that I didn’t drive up the road to Cerro Gordo in my low clearance Model 3 from Tesla as a higher clearance vehicle is recommended.
I have had that same red The North Face jacket for longer than I can remember. I wish that I could find another one, but I’ve never been able to find one. I would buy another one for sure, but it was the last one long ago. Your jacket looks new, while my zipper is failing and I have to be very gentle with it.
BLM land on the way up to Cerro Gordo. Not on Brent's Property. The guys are quite specific in their request that you do not explore mines on the property. Which is very understandable considering how quick people are to sue.
Thank You for sharing this, I am 84 and wife 74 with Alzheimer's Dementia and we used to love investigating caves. I have wanted to visit Cerro Gordo for some time, But am not sure about driving a Big Class A Gas Motor Home up and back on the Road. I have a Lot of Antiques I wanted to donate to the Preservation of the Town, But it seems they do not understand that there is very little there that was not hauled in from other places. I have been involved all my life sense I was a Boy Scout in Antiques and Historical Societies in several areas and the younger people today who are in charge are extremely Stupid.I have antiques my Ancestors used way back in the late 1700's and the Antique Dealers of today want to pay less than a quarter the true value and rip we old senior Citizens who know the true history if articles. I would much rather donate them to a Historical program than see Vulchurs steel them I am 84 years old and have tried to contact Brent many times to no avail. We have found Volcano Vent's out in the California Desert and went into a couple.
Hey Raymond. I might be able to help you with that. Could you message me privately through Facebook Messenger or what is your preferred choice of contact?
No way a motorhome can go up 28:45 that road. I have driven it. I had a 34 class A and took it some places probably shouldn’t have but that road os definite NO!!!!
ED COOK, i APPRECIATE YOUR REPLY. i WANT TO ASK YOU A QUESTION AND i HOPE YOU WILL CONSIDER THE SITUATION. I AM A RETIRED OVER THE ROAD TRUCKER OVER 50 + YEARS. FOR YEARS I DID BACK COUNTRY HAULING EVEN TOWING LARGE OFFICE AND BUNK HOUSE TRAILERS TO THE GEYSERS IN NORTHERN CALIFORNIA IN THE MOUNTAINS. THE ROADS DO NOT SCARE ME AS FAR AS THE ALTITUDE. I HAVE A 32 FT. 454 CHEVROLET ENGINE, PLENTY OF POWER. THE ONLY THING I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT WAS THE OVER HANGING ROCKS, AND VERY POSSIBLY A NARROW SWITCH BACK WHERE YOU HAVE TO MANOVER ON AN EXTREMELY NARROW ROAD IN A VERY DANGEROUS SPOT. THE ONLY REASON i WANTED TO DRIVE IT UP IS BECAUSE OF POSSIBLY TOWING A 18' FLAT BED BEHIND IT LOADED WITH BUILDING TOOLS IF I DECIDE TO DONATE THEM. i AM 85 YEARS OLD, bUT BELIEVE ME, i AM STILL THE MAN THEY USED TO HAVE HAUL THE BIG LOADS DOWN THE NORTH WEST SIDE OF THE GOLDEN GATE MAKING OTHERS DROP THEIR TRAIORS AND I TOWING AND SPOTTING THEM. I WAS THE ONLY DRIVER THEY WOULD ALLOW ON THE FLY OVER ON HIGHWAY 24 AND 880 IN WALNUT CREEK WITHOUT RAILINGS AT NIGHT DURING DEMOLITION. I HAVE TAKEN MANY SPRED AXEL TRUCK TRAILERS ON ROADS 90% WOULD NOT EVEN CONSIDER. IT IS EXTREMELY SAD, I HAVE CALLED AND POSTED THEM DOWN THERE AND NOT ONCE RECEIVED A REPLY/\. AT ONE TIME I HAD FAR OVER $40,000.00 I CONSIDERED DONATING IN TOOLS AS WELL AS ANTIQUES DATING BACK INTO THE EARLY 1800'S BUT I HIRED A MAN WHO STOLE MY PICKUP AND FIFTHWHEEL AND ANOTHER WHO STOLD MY 1950 CLASSIC BULLIT NOSE STUDEBAKER AND MANY TOOLS. HERE IN THE CITY I LIVE IN IS THE BIGGEST BUNCH OF TRASH CRIMINALS LIVING EVEN WITHIN OUR GOVERNMENT. I JUST WANT OUT OF HERE. MY PARALEGAL SAID IN OCTOBER 10,2021 - OCTOBER 10, 2022. I LOST OVER $265,000.00 TO THE LOCAL THIEVES. AMD IT HAS NOT CHANGED. THAT WAS WHY I WAS OFFERING THE STOCK TO CERRO GORDO, CA. I JUST WANT TO GET MY WIFE INTO AN ASSISTED LIVING THE HALL AS FAR AWAY FROM CALIFORNIA AND I CAN GET. - @@edcook9747

Thank you for your kind words. And yes, definitely not a road for a Model 3!
@@MarkOByrne152 Thank you for the feedback, Mark. I won’t attempt that drive.

You are spot on Mitchell. I've had that jacket for many many years. It was even a hand me down when I got it. Keeps on giving!
@@MarkOByrne152 It’s just the perfect amount of warmth. It’s a keeper for a lifetime!
Another thing off your bucket list. I hope Brent gave you lunch.
I got lost when you were in that mine, and wondering what happens when your light malfunctions? You are Courageous!
Mark, that was a great video. Where was that mine, on Cerro Gordo property? It looked to be in great condition.

Great trip Mark. What would you have done if the battery went flat while you were in the tunnel? My heart was in my mouth watching you.
I had my phone, a torch, and spare batteries for the torch. Well covered!
Bulbs can fail too! Had it happen in lava tubes. Had three torches as you call them.
Looks like a 2wd road to me.
What up bro
