Don't know if you've ever watched the old DM episodes, but if you do, you'll see her love of dance, even in season 3-4 when she was being treated so badly. The first solo I saw from her was the reunion version of "Seeing Red" -- my GOD. How could she be only 12 years old and capable of that? Then I saw earlier solos.... if you watch them be sure to watch the choreographer's cut or put "full dance" in your search. I still marvel at how beautifully she danced Wreck It, Another Girl, I Know It's Too Late, Into Me, Lucky Star... and all her musical theatre solos from when she was little -- I Want to be a Rockette, Ma He's Makin' Eyes at Me, I Like to Fuss.... and the other times when she took my breath away and looked like a professional --- The Raven, Black Heart, Angry Bird, Fired Up, Unchained, the group dance Light As A Feather, Stiff As A Board... even the Upside Down from season 7 (when she was briefly with MDP) Classic ALDC group dances like Glam, Bollywood and Vine, On the Verge, Just Be, This Is My Beauty, Rosa Parks, Free at Last, Gone Too Soon, The Last Text, I Want It Now, Sassy Dolls, Silver Spoons, Girls Night Out, Broken Dolls (even though she fell), even the problematic Tribal Council.... she always gave her all and drew the eye. If nothing else, you should see Silence from season 2 nationals - at age 11! - and Dream on a Star - age 10. I still get chills watching those from the pure emotion. Her group dances in Studio 19 are amazing too, especially Break the Silence and the senior first place winning duet (at age 13) Hangin' By A Thread. Of course the Love Is Blindness and Alice dance videos while so different are special to us fans also. So many other Dance Moms solos (and duets, trios and group dances). But it's not just the dancing, it's her sweet little heart that grew into this wonderful, genuine warmth that you can see in everything she does even now. Thank you for everything you did for her. I only wish you had been able to train her longer.
Wow you are a super fan lol but I agree Chole had the same potential as Maddie, but Abby purposely broke her to hurt Chrissy. It so sad because she had a suck a natural talent and that's rare.
i totally agree! Abby said that she never wanted to her to win, and she won anyways sometimes!!! It was totally Chloe’s talent, as she was never given choreography as great as her competitors were getting, but she shined through anyways because she had that spark and natural skill. That’s why she was also chosen for the Joffrey ballet school scholarship. I’ve always loved how she danced and i’m so sorry that the traumatic experience ruined it for her. you could specially see it in s4, how burned out she really was and that’s why she didn’t progress as a dancer. im really sad about that, but im glad to hear Cheryl has bonded with her! Chloe seems so sweet, I wouldn’t want anything but all things good for her 💗
I think the moms were so overbearing was because of how horribly Abby treated them, but I’m really glad that you were able to make the end a better experience for them and allow them to be themselves without a teacher constantly bringing them down.
I think we always blame Abby for everything but the moms were just as bad : always complaining about not having solo and then complaining about how having a solo is a lot of pressure, insulting, yelling, getting physical with one another, talking down about other children ... We also forget about how much power the producers hold like who has solos and dance themes/style or the time schedule so they could make them do one scene over and over again so one child could not have enough rehearsal time. Abby is the one taking all the heat but I think a lot of the drama is the producers doing and it just put everyone on edge so they would fight with each other.
Sarah I do understand why Kendall, Chloe and Nia wouldn’t talk to Abby but why Kalani wouldn’t talk to her doesn’t make sense to me as she has never been on Abby’s radar. She has never been yelled at, never been threatened of being kicked off the team or not having a solo ever again.
the reason the most "talented" are the two newest ones is because Abby wore out Chloe, Kendal, and Nia when they were little, she turned their passion into this exasperating obligation.
Also Abby never taught them good technique and idk why they never got flexible enough (most of them), just pretty low flexibility for a dancer at that level, I believe it was part of the bad training
Also Abby loved the new ones so much because they got real training. I mean I love the OG but their technic is lame next to Camry kalani and brynn’s technic cause Abby is not a good trainer. She loved the new girls so much cause they were perfectly trained by other teachers and Abby was the one getting the glory by making them dance under her name
“Holly was the most normal one of the moms” We been knew that and also finally camryn gets some respect thank you Cheryl for saying she’s was the most talented cause agreed
Okay so I’m happy to hear that Holly is who she seems to be, the most sane Dance Mom! She definitely had her moments but she definitely seemed the most under control. Also yes Cameron isn’t an OG but she fit with them so well (including Gia I think her name is. Whoever came in with cam and Abby kicked her off), I honestly wish they kept her for the tour because she was apart of that final season and she was there longer than most guests, and she basically joined the team towards the end. It also makes sense that she was the most talented because the other girls didn’t have the classes they needed to progress over the past few seasons, but Cameron did. It sucks to hear that so many of the girls lost their passion for dance. Really shows how poorly Abby treated them, sometimes I thought it was for show but even on her social media now she still seems like a very angry person. I’m glad they all found passions in other things like acting and singing. It makes sense that Maddie would be one of the few to still be dancing because she got so much special attention (wether it was real or not) and she got so much real world experience away from Abby. That being said it sounds like there’s still some fakery to the comps, especially with your whole “listen they have 3 judges..” lol I mean I get it. You don’t want to shit where you work or once worked and that’s fine. Luckily the girls have already spilled the tea so you don’t have to lol. Sorry for the long comment. Just a huge fan of you and dance moms!
I grew up with a mom like Abby Lee Miller. As a young girl being constantly yelled at, shamed, and put down with nobody standing up for me(bc that is what a mother is supposed to do...) I felt scared and alone. Dance Moms was in many ways, a comfort to me, knowing other girls my age could relate to what I was going through, and watch them grow out of their shells and overcome their fear of Abby gave me the strength to do that for myself. #thankyoudancemoms
It’s nice to hear the holly on screen and off screen was the most normal cuz her, nia, Chloe and at times Jill were always my faves, so glad to hear the chloe was sweet too ☺️💕
This was such a refreshing take on Dance moms: commentary on the experience, girls and their moms. Thank you for sharing and being a positive mentor. Love ya
THANK YOU FOR GIVING CAMRYN HER PROPS ON DANCING. Camryn was always overlooked and when you came in, she finally got some of the attention and spotlight that she deserved. Definitely my favorite dancer from dance moms
I felt so bad for those girls and I was so happy they had you as a coach. Thank you for supporting the girls and showing them what positive coaching looks like. 👏
The dance moms signed their girls up to be on Abby's competition team. They are not there to dance as a hobby. It's unfortunate that the girls did not understand the assignment.
I’m glad we heard Cheryl’s side of the story of what working on Dance Moms was like in her eyes! I wonder how she would feel about any of the girls competing on DWTS in the same season as her!
As a fan of anything dance on television, I was like YES!! Cheryl is exactly who these girls need right now!! And then immediately though god I hope hope the moms don’t ruin it!! 🤷♀️ Even though it was rough at first, I’m so glad you did it. Especially for them. I had a small town dance studio and I can’t believe how Abby acted towards those girls. If there’s a dance god, they definitely called in Cheryl to the rescue!! I liked the bit of ballroom in their routine. I funded my own pro am ballroom dance career in my 20’s and would put it in my students routines for their recital. They loved it!! 🩰💃🕺👯♀️🎶
*Nia* is absolutely beautiful, funny, bubbly and she definitely did not get enough recognition! Her mom was also the easiest-going mother, and super intelligent to boot. I’m so glad Cheryl had time for Nia and realized that she really was a stunning dancer with loads of potential. *Chloe* is the sweetest soul ever. She was so supportive towards her team no matter what- she even lost her 1st place trophy to Maddie after an “accident” with scoring, and STILL, with tears in her eyes, said she was happy for Maddie. This all occurred when the poor girl was 7!! And she handled everything with such grace. *Kendal* came a long way since she first came on the show. If there was a trophy for it, Kendal would have gotten the “biggest improvement” trophy. She shed many tears over the course of the show and it’s really unfair. Kendal held just as much potential as the other girls, and it’s a big shame she lost her love for dance. Kendal was a performer and super entertaining to watch. *cheryl* thank your for seeing something in these girls that Abby turned a blind eye to. Thank you for looking at all of them, and being able to see a strength in each of these girls. You gave them more emotional support, strength, courage, and FUN in their last season of dance moms then they potentially had on any other season. *Abby* you lost out on these girls. Here’s a favorite quote of yours... Big mistake, Abby, big mistake.
I'm glad you were honest and all the girls are adults now so no shame in the truth. You said good things about all of them. If someone has an attitude, then they have one and sometimes calling it out can help them realize it. I would hate to be known as the one who always rolled my eyes..but if I'm told every one sees it I'd for sure stop.
@@Jffy1902 ya but honestly look at all the drama from Charlie and Dixie from looking rude and rolling their eyes and they were held to a higher standard. Those girls had followers then too that would be looking up to them and think its kool to be a brat. I didn't see kameryns comment before posting mine though to be fair
There's a lot of negative stereotypes about Black people though, many folks often mischaracterize their benign actions as being rude or unkind, and it kind of seems like that's why Camryn replied to Cheryl; she didn't want her actions to be misinterpreted and reinforcing a negative stereotype.

Enjoyed this video... Have to say I feel like Camryn is misunderstood. Some of that "attitude" might come from the other girls shutting her out/saying some insensitive things to a black girl... listening to some of her own version of events, that's what it sounded like. (She also said Nia, was always lovely to her). Often black girls are told they need to work on their attitudes, as an end result of all the b.s. they've had to endure on top of the everyday struggles. Attitude is often hurt in these situations. Hopefully she's learnt to express herself better, as she can't act the same way some of the other girls (shown on the show giving attitude) are privileged to do, without being judged harshly.
Thank you, This was beautifully said. Some people will never understand this struggle, but the first to speak about how others should act or react. When you have never walked a mile in another person's shoes you will never understand their walk or experience in this life.
This entire show villainized black women and made them look like incompetent dancers especially Jill who constantly made slick remarks about all of the black dancers on the team when they all out danced her child

I think the reality is no the same as another, you had a short experience, they had thousands of different experiences, it's good that everything has been a learning process for everyone and also for the audience.
Thank you Cheryl, for just taking these girls under your wing. What they needed more than any trophies, their last time dancing, was their confidence back.. and you did that for them. Something no one would spend that much time doing
Yeah I cringe when she said I worked with the OGs. I mean Kendall technically is too because she came season two, but Jill just makes us not want to count her because she honest brought the stereotype "dance mom" character to life.

So true....

@@marissaritz1032 For me, it’s a few comments down from this one.
What did she say?
@@elenapatout1698 well there’s a reason why most of the OGs don’t speak to and hate Abby
Sarah but I also think that the moms behaviors affected their children as much as Abby’s. Kids were getting upset because their mothers were.
@@elenapatout1698 didn’t Abby call her fat?
the reason the most "talented" are the two newest ones is because Abby wore out Chloe, Kendal, and Nia when they were little, she turned their passion into this exasperating obligation.
Sophia who did she say were the most talented?
@@millianlurray did you even watch the video
@@mallowmarsh4334 not rlly lmfao
Also Abby never taught them good technique and idk why they never got flexible enough (most of them), just pretty low flexibility for a dancer at that level, I believe it was part of the bad training
Also Abby loved the new ones so much because they got real training. I mean I love the OG but their technic is lame next to Camry kalani and brynn’s technic cause Abby is not a good trainer. She loved the new girls so much cause they were perfectly trained by other teachers and Abby was the one getting the glory by making them dance under her name
“Holly was the most normal one of the moms”
We been knew that and also finally camryn gets some respect thank you Cheryl for saying she’s was the most talented cause agreed
Nia’s dance to your choreo in the red dress was her best dance ever IMO. You seemed to give her confidence, too.

I'm sorry to hear that. Unfortunately I did not have such a big opportunity to dance however my mum was very similar regard my school and grades.
It’s nice to hear the holly on screen and off screen was the most normal cuz her, nia, Chloe and at times Jill were always my faves, so glad to hear the chloe was sweet too ☺️💕
Same!! I had mixed emotions about jill sometimes she made me mad sometimes i rly liked her! 🤪
Yeah same like she’s fine and sure she might of gone too far but overall she’s really funny and caring especially for her little Kendall
I have to admit that the “ugh, go back on vacation” quote, has become one of my catchphrases. LOL
Mine is, “are you done bitching”
OmfgLivvy12 Iconic as well 😂
Abby wanting the girls to win all the time and Cheryl just wanting them to have fun is the difference between punishment and passion.
I love this and the transparency!!! so glad you brought a good impact to the end of the girls’ journey on the show
*Nia* is absolutely beautiful, funny, bubbly and she definitely did not get enough recognition!
I loved this video. Finally someone who’s so honest about it!!! Also I’m so sorry you and Aj got eliminated IM GONNA MISS WATCHING YOU GUYS!!! ❤️❤️❤️😔
Hi Victoria
Original only two (Chloe and Nia) the other girls arrived after...
THANK YOU TH-cam FOR RECOMMENDING THIS TO ME.
Read Camryn's reply
She was a kid. Im sure everyone has kid moments when they are a literal child....
@@JinjiSayson i totally agree.
Yes I absolutely love the show because of Cheryl.been waiting for forever
"Nia, she's a woman." Already showing her respect to the students by seeing them as grown-ups. 👍
she’s not a woman, a women is 25+
@@thenextstepxzs There are no specific age to define a "woman". I've met females who age beyond 25 but still acting like a child.
@@tomarnold7284 the human brain is fully developed at 25, anyone under 18 is a girl and over 25 is a women and in between is neither, but more so a girl

@@thenextstepxzs a legal woman is 18+. A physical and emotional woman, can vary in age. Yes our frontal lobes arnt fully formed until age 25, that doesn't mean your not a woman until then. The only thing that you need to be at least 25 years old to do is rent a vehicle. (This is in the states)
TALK ABOUT IT! This was worded perfectly.
Thank you, This was beautifully said. Some people will never understand this struggle, but the first to speak about how others should act or react. When you have never walked a mile in another person's shoes you will never understand their walk or experience in this life.
YOU BETTER SAY THAT. AND I HOPE CHERLY READS THIS!!!
And when cam came here and corrected this shes being bashed🤦🏾♀️
This entire show villainized black women and made them look like incompetent dancers especially Jill who constantly made slick remarks about all of the black dancers on the team when they all out danced her child
Of course queen Dr. Holly is the smartest 👑
i feel like abby is the reason some girls lost the passion for dance
Definitely. You can tell in season 4 that Abby destroyed Chloe’s passion for dance.
Absolutely she did. Abby made it a job rather than a passion. A job that they couldn't quit bc of the contracts
exactly especially how she yelled at them
Love Kalani and Chloe. Doesn't surprise me Holly just reads lol. :)
Samee❤
too bad, Kalani is a Trump support and nia went off on her story bc of it.
I feel you cheryl . Those mom were crazy and they just made me laugh with the stuff they got mad for but I understand there purpose of being mad cuz they want the better for there child. Also I didn’t notice you was on dance mom until I watched it again and saw it I was like “oh snap my fav dwts member is on that show let’s go “ !!!. Your a great teacher and those girl were lucky to have you as ther teacher and to finish the season. Instead of Abby crazy self lol
I'm honestly surprised that Abby didn't get arrested for child abuse. Bc the verbal abuse she gave those kids was appalling.
She was 👹💯
Verbal abuse isnt illegal I dont think
Unfortunately you can't get arrested for verbal abuse. 😞
Queen Holly & Nia strike again! 👑
This video came on my suggestions so out of nowhere but this is cool. I stopped watching the show long ago because Abby was awful to those girls. I bet that having you as a teacher was much needed and a breath of fresh air.
Awh you can really see her love for all the girls when she speaks abt them. I loved the honesty!
just wanna say a huge, massive thank you to Cheryl, u did so much for the girls and moms, and have been a ridiculously amazing teacher to them. and tbh, that last ballroom'ish number, I can say was the best, my favorite dance among the whole show (little dwts fan here
Can you Imagine if Chloe was trained by someone that gave her quality time and didn't beat her down. She would have been winning left and right!!!
Every Dance Teacher should be like Cheryl ❤ she is an angel 😇
Christi is such a good person! No one can convince me other wise the love she would show each girl on the show was amazing.
I love that you were so real and honest! Also bless you for the Nia love!! She never gets enough credit “just for being curvier” when she’s still amazing
So has Cheryl taken any psych courses ?? Because this Queen is perfectly describing grounding and using terms to describe things the same way I would as a BSW student
A lot of those grounding techniques come from embodied practices like dance. Speaking as a Dance/Movement Therapist and Counselor.
I never watched the show but did dance as a little girl. My mom was a dance mom for sure. I still remember dance and have some of my outfits still.
you were exactly what those girls needed at that time in their life. you should be very proud of the impact you had on them and their relationship with dance. Season 7 is my favorite because you can really see the girls becoming confident and comfortable in themselves rather than seeking validation from others.
I feel like Christy comes out one way but you see her as a pretty great mom over all and extremely intelligent

I would totally love to see you on the DWTS panel instead of Carrie Ann...I think you would be a breath of fresh air!
Honestly, I had to stop watching dance moms because it was just so clear to me that the show was much more about exploiting the emotions of the cast to gain recognition. I felt so bad for the girls and they should not describe the experience they had as CHILDREN as traumatic. Hearing you describe it like that made sense but also made me really sad.
Yay thank you for posting these videos!! Love it.

Favorite Part of DM: Cheryl says to Jill “Are you done bitching?”
The only ogs are holly and christie and nia and chloe
Yeah I cringe when she said I worked with the OGs. I mean Kendall technically is too because she came season two, but Jill just makes us not want to count her because she honest brought the stereotype "dance mom" character to life.

So...I just started watching the end of dance mom season 7 and I have to say I am VERY impressed with how Cheryl Burke handle the team (all the interpersonal things), both in the dancers and the moms. She is firm, gets a little sassy when needed, sometimes throw up some curse words, but hey, somehow she still stayed classy! SO IMPRESSED! her critique of the girls were spot on without being mean...She was encouraging, she was fair. I have never followed DWTS so I didn't know who she was. Well, dance mom producers picked you correctly!!! You won a fan in me!!

At least here in AZ, it's very popular now, and taught (by some amazing instructors) at all of the competitive studios in this area.
