@@vegikid100 In Russian nuclear doctrine there are requirements for launching nuclear strike. Some strategic forces or objects must be captured or destroyed. Not sure if a nuclear power plant counts, but if they go as far as Moscow - its gg, well played for them. Nato wont like to get involved then, since this is invasion of Russia by their proxy. I dont think anyone would like to be involved in nuclear war for Ukraine, except - Russia who is invaded by them. Your ukrainian pals are testing a fine line here. Of course thats all ultimate variants, but even the most optimistic for Ukraine, aint ending well for them the least. I personally dont see Russians taking any other course except the one they currently have.

@@atanasvasilev3228 To be honest, NATO is already involved. Having troops at the front lines is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to wars. Ukraine is certainly getting training to use NATO's weapons, intelligence, strategic planning, ammo, etc... It's interesting how NATO's missiles always have the correct GPS coordinates to hit strategic targets and always know what's going on, as if Ukraine has satellites all around the globe.

Unless Russia can prevent the entrenchment and establishment of logistics then this push will keep on. I speculate too that the engineering equipement is present primarily to reconfigure the abandoned Russian defensive lines to be useable by Ukraine.

@@AllanMogensen Could be true, and it would be less threatening to the world, than taking Taiwan, I think. If Russia falls apart, I would really expect such moves, in a general chaotic situation, because China then might take the risk, without fears of nukular threat.

Just think of it this way, once a border is breached and it is unprotected they could rapidly swarm the entire country blending with evacuees using local vehicles/plate swapping, then begin operating deep within the territory.

ukrainian spec ops are a big part of this offensive, particularly the initial push. that's exactly what happened at the border, they flooded it and flanked border troops. cause the border wasn't manned 100%.
Its the sort of thing where Russia should be glad that Ukraine is trying to stay in the good books and not just go absolutely nuts. Given how determined they are to protect their country, if Ukraine actually went full terroist like Russia says they are, Russia would crumble. Ukraine likely would too but Russia would likely have none of their nuclear powerplants left....
The powerplant in Ukrainian hands would result in a big problem for russian trains. They operate electric and are their main supply method for everthing. Russia is so big, that they can not just get electricity from somewhere else, so if Ukraine takes the powerplant, that might collaps the local train network and with that the Russian logistics to a big degree.
It's all about the railroads, and they now have control of two RR bridges as well. No railroads, no supplies = war won.

@@craigkirslis2166 It already happens, even without the powerplant. People have no idea, how much Russia depends on railroads. Since 1850's Russia is a railroad army. In every single conflict they 100% depend on it. Now their plans for trains have been uncovered and Ukrain can target everything easily. There is no going back from this, because its an automatic system that works in the trains, hence its way too much data to handle for humans. I really wonder how the next few weeks will look like, because if the trains won't go smoothly soon, then this might really be the end of the war.

Now for the important news. Ukraine now is in control of two railroad lines in Russia. Ukraine can now cut off men and materials in the area they control. There a two railroad bridges over rivers, one near Girl and one in Korenevo. If these bridges are destroyed it will take months to rebuild them and it will be in winter.

I heard, Ukraine also attemted to enter Russia way further in the north. Nobody knows, if they will, but it's very clear, Ukraine prepared this for a long time, and their preparations are great. It works.
Who knows, what else Ukraine will take in future, but the pows alone are woth it. Around 1.000, maybe even more. To get Ukrainians back. If Ukraine digs in, Russia has an even bigger problem.
The thing is, for now Russia sends the reserves from the east and south. That means, the fighting forces for Russia will stay the same for now, but they don't have forces to rotate them out, which means, with a delay of a few weeks, next month or the month after, we will see Russia getting weaker in the east and south. Much weaker.
So if russian trolls try to tell you, russia still is strong, because they still advance a little in the east: Yeah, but without reserves, so for every fight, for every gain now, they will pay in a few weeks, when their troops are exhausted.
The Ukrainian offensive needs time to show it's whole effect, it needs some patience, but you already can see the first effects, and, like I said, not just the territory, but also the pows alone make it worth it. Also the powerful message, it sends. Good job, Ukraine 👍

It seems like the whole time in the last several months when Ukraine was publicly saying "we are switching to 100% defence now" and "we are running short of ammo" and Zelensky was going around apparently pleading with everyone for more weapons, they were already planning and preparing for this attack. It is possible that the entirety of the last year has been Ukraine putting on a giant show feigning weakness to lure the Russians into committing to huge, resource draining ill-advised attacks and depleting their defensive reserves.

If Ukraine is able to take control of that power plant they could use it to disrupt the power across a large segment of the Russian power grid, not just locally. They could intentionally run it at a different frequency than the rest of the grid to damage the equipment. It can be a much more critical piece of infrastructure to leverage as we approach fall and winter.

If the Ukrainian Army can't take the Russian nuclear power station, would they be close enough to it as to cut the power lines leading out of the plant? Cutting or controlling the major electric cables out of it would effectively make the plant isolated and would deny power to that region. Just a thought, but would this be even feasible?
Small problem: messing with civilian infrastructure would be classed as a war crime.

Ukraine doesn't need to actually take the NPP, just be enough of a credible threat that Russia shuts it down, fearing that Ukraine would do what they would do and shell the shit out of it. Once shut down it will take a lot of time to get back on line, and in the meantime it would cause all sorts of problems for the Russian power grid in the region.

The numbers of prisoners taken in this new front is more than in the WW2 history record and let us hope they are receiving good care so that Putin can see the peace is about reuniting families of conscripts again too. Such a massive difference between the WW2 and Crimean War POW tales so let us hope Ukraine shows such a huge amount of new Prisoners of War are well cared for on the newscast interviews. Peace will only come when families start that process too.

Any chance of helping him understand the difference in meaning of the words ADVANCE and ADVANCEMENT? Perhaps you will succeed where I and numerous others have failed. Given how good his English is generally, it's astonishing that Denys has a tin ear for certain specific words that he uses frequently but which would not be difficult to learn if he were to put his mind to do so.
