Yes, for the "on the ground" reportage but not so much for some politics.
Denys's knee-jerk "Trump bad" dismissive reaction is *not* helpful when we need to examine all options.
Russia's break-even is ~$44/barrel (or worse due to dodgy shipping routes) vs. $20-25 for Saudi, Iran, UAE, etc.
Reducing to $40-45 combined with ramping up shale oil production (not an option for the Democrats) *would* be very painful for Russia, especially if it were timed and repeated strategically.

@@dw620 Well, not so unimportant as Denys thinks, but on the other hand, still not so devastating for Russia. It really would take years to make a mark on RF's economy and it's hard to believe Trump is so much dedicated to Ukrainian cause.

@@dw620 not sure wherre you're getting that ~$44 /barrel from - just had a quick look & that's approximate for 'marginal' fields, but waaay higher than the bulk of their production as far as i've seen.
also- how is trump going to persuade everyone else to drop their prices? why can't dems pump up shale production (if they wanted to, there's nothing in their platform about stopping that afaik)
& frankly- why are you suggesting that trump - one of the world's most prolific liars, a sex-offender, tax-evader, & fraudster who tried to overturn the results of an election is anything but a crook? wierd take.

30 criminal cases have been identified and initiated related to the embezzlement of funds allocated for the implementation of defensive fortifications in the amount of half a billion dollars. Therefore, they are so unreliable that soldiers abandon them, preferring to dig trenches for themselves on their own. For example, dragon's teeth were everywhere unloaded into landfills so as not to spend money on their installation, and fortifications instead of concrete, bricks and rebar were often erected in a shallow trench of ordinary planks that were pierced by a bullet. There is no money for the soldier's equipment, and he himself must spend about 100,000 hryvnia on it with a salary of 20,000 hryvnia in the rear. Half of the recruits do not have the funds to buy uniforms, despite this, many are sent to the front line in the early days, bypassing the laws, without a preliminary training course. Those who refuse to fight are tortured, can be shot, or at best imprisoned. It costs about $10,000 to create a fictitious document to leave the country. People illegally crossing the border of Ukraine are being caught. The border guards open aimed fire. Illegal border crossing is punishable by 8 years in prison. The state has renounced the rights of its citizens living in Ukraine to renounce Ukrainian citizenship. The border of Ukraine is replenished with the corpses of victims who decided to flee the country. People drown, freeze, get lost in forests and mountains, or die from bullets. Over the past 2023, more than half a million men have already been mobilized for the war. Russia uses artillery 5-10 times more often and continues to increase production, so that Ukrainians die no less than Russians, about whom official statistics at the beginning of 2024 assure of huge losses, at least 400,000 people. Accordingly, there are always more war invalids than dead. There are very cruel people living in Western Ukraine who want to commit genocide in the east of Ukraine, who have indirectly gained a foothold in power, the Radical "right sector" who hates everything Russian. Ukraine needs peace, not the return of all its territories. The escalation of the conflict and unwillingness to compromise can lead to the use of nuclear weapons and carpet bombing of Ukraine, when civilian casualties will be no less than people dying in the war. It will be the same as what Israel did to Palestine. In 2014, after the referendum, Ukraine began hostilities and returned part of the territories under its control, my city also came under the control of Ukraine, but Ukraine could not take control of the neighboring city. Having lived on the demarcation line for 8 years, I became convinced that there is a lot of shelling from our side in the direction of the neighboring city. I lived in a multi-storey building on the outskirts of the city, next to the fields, and I heard how from our side, periodically, for several weeks in a row, shelling of uncontrolled territory took place, several times an hour from various types of artillery. Regardless of whether they fired at Ukrainian positions in response or not. People who lived a little further away could only hear loud retaliatory blows. For eight years, Russia has been trying to try Ukraine on with Donbass, leaving Donbass to Ukraine in a special status, but Ukraine wanted full power over Donbass. The Ukrainian government is engaged in multiple undeserved contract killings, including of Ukrainian Russian-speaking politicians who want to live in peace with Russia (for example, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada Ilya Kiva or Alexey Kovalev and his wife), with impunity and legally, and at the same time foreign journalists do not disclose them as tyrants. And our Ukrainian television encourages such actions everywhere. Ukrainians who voluntarily moved to live in Russia are entered into the Ukrainian database "peacemaker", the Ukrainian authorities have the right to use cruel measures against such people, up to the elimination of a person, which the special services are successfully engaged in. Every year, Ukraine commits dozens of terrorist attacks and murders in Russia, in uncontrolled territories, for which it takes responsibility. Now monetary fines are accrued for each failure to appear at the military enlistment office, untimely updating of their data at the military enlistment office, failure to notify about a change of residence, incorrect residential address, failure to receive a summons to the military enlistment office after its preparation. The amount of each fine is at least 4 minimum wages. Refusal to undergo a military medical commission, refusal of military service - prison. People try to come to military enlistment offices or medical commissions together with lawyers, because many sick people who do not want to serve are registered as healthy volunteers and sent to fight against their will. Even eighteen-year-olds are taken to war to help soldiers. The draft age has been lowered to 25 years. Persons who have completed initial military training since the age of 18 become liable for military service, after which they can be called up to the front, despite their young age. When the war was just beginning, my apartment and the city were intact, and the Ukrainian army did not turn cities into fortresses, did not send a gunner and a sniper to the roof of a high-rise building and did not put armored vehicles and rocket launchers behind an apartment building. The soldiers did not hold the defense of the city until there was not a single surviving multi-storey building in it. In those days, on March 29, 2022, the Ukrainian contact group could adopt Russia's peace plan in the Turkish city of Istanbul. If Ukraine had abandoned NATO, the Crimean Peninsula and the uncontrolled part of Donbass, returned the status of the Russian language, then the war would have ended. At the request of the West, the Russians even withdrew troops from Kiev as a gesture of goodwill. Both sides signed the necessary documents, the Ukrainian side agreed to ban Nazi propaganda in Ukraine coming from far-right communities that discriminates against the Russian-speaking population, in addition, has a dangerous tendency of further growth and popularization, the President of Ukraine had only to sign a peace treaty. But Boris Johnson came to Ukraine and convinced President Zelensky not to sign anything, but to continue the war with the support of allied countries, this fact was officially confirmed on the main TV channel by a man from the ruling Arahamiya party. He also recalled the policy of waging war until the former territorial borders of '91 are returned. But if Ukraine had agreed to end the war then, it would no longer have lost its lands and would not have worried about losing sovereignty. You should understand that the purpose of owning Ukrainian lands is not important for the Russian ruling elite, it is estimated that in Russia, on average, from three hundred thousand to a billion dollars a day is spent on war. The main goal of the conflict is the struggle for global global hegemony, geopolitics and freedom of action, so that in the future Ukraine and Europe take into account Russia's interests, and the country has security from the Black Sea, which will be ensured by the possession of the Crimean Peninsula. Now it will be impossible to create NATO bases on an island neighboring Russia and dictate to the Russians their terms of behavior on the world stage, having a counterweight to the nuclear arsenal. Russia does not need military bases near its borders capable of destroying missiles with nuclear warheads. In an interview, Zelensky said that the population of Ukraine is more than 50 million people. According to the IMF, as of the end of 2023, the population of Ukraine is 32 million people, and the number of police officers, excluding the formation of military police, per 100,000 population will be 780 people. But in fact, everyone is fleeing the country. The Institute of Demography of Ukraine has estimated that in 2025 the population will halve over the past 30 years and will amount to less than 25 out of 50 million people. In particular, Ukraine has always had a record low birth rate. This means that the number of police officers per capita will increase to suppress riots, pogroms, protests and identify evaders. Ukraine has turned into a police state for total control over the population. We are in a student dormitory, a room with an area of 17 square meters was provided to us for free, however, we have to pay 9,000 hryvnia per month for utilities during the semi-annual heating season 2023-2024 for a family of three people. Students pay a fixed fee of 1,500 hryvnia per person all year round. Let me remind you that the minimum wage is only 4,970 hryvnia ($130), including taxes. We live in unsanitary conditions: bedbugs, cockroaches, fungus on the walls, a clogged toilet, cracked window panes sealed with duct tape, damp walls with water on the windowsill in the cold season and a 1980 refrigerator. If I get a job legally, there is a high probability that I will be mobilized for the war. You cannot get a job without visiting the military enlistment office. To avoid fines, the employer is obliged to monitor the registration of employees on military registration. Even the disabled of the third group are taken away to fight. If my family doesn't pay for the dorm room on time, we'll be thrown out on the street. The state has closed all social programs that could help us. People living in their apartment can save and pay much less, in addition, the state provides them with cash subsidies. It is much worse for homeless displaced refugees from broken cities, living in a crowd in one cramped shelter room. There are not enough places in the hostel for everyone, and not everyone can afford it financially. Help, my elderly family with a reclining mother is running out of money.

      V) 17-20 (I-I2) Prisoners in prisons have their limbs broken until they agree to sign a document on voluntary membership in an assault squad. Murderers and maniacs are released to war in exchange for amnesty. According to the new standards, alcoholics, drug addicts, one-armed people with unstable mentality, Down syndrome, patients with cancer, tuberculosis and AIDS became fit for military service. If they come to a doctor's appointment without a mark on passing the military medical commission, doctors will refuse them treatment and send them to the military enlistment office, where they can be recognized fit for service, treated and sent to the front. For refusing treatment and passing a medical commission, 5 years of imprisonment are provided. Often, in the military enlistment office, unfit for military service, among other pieces of paper, a document on voluntary service in the army is secretly submitted for signature, after which, instead of postponing, you are forcibly sent to a military camp. While the front line was holding and our soldiers were not yet retreating, money was laundered through the Ministry of Defense for defensive structures for our soldiers, and now they have to hold the defense in simple trenches. The Russians take advantage of this and specifically do not go on the offensive to destroy the newly arriving soldiers in the trench with artillery, who have nowhere to hide. Men who do not have a passport and a military ID card with them are fined 25,000 hryvnia, and after identification they can be forcibly taken to the military enlistment office. For not filling in the data in the electronic cabinet of the reserve plus application, which every man should have online, the state also has the right to impose a fine of 25,000 hryvnia, which is equivalent to four minimum salaries. Those who have not yet updated their data at the military enlistment office or have been drafted into the army will also receive summonses online through the Reserve Plus application. Only those who update their data in a timely manner at the military enlistment office are allowed not to register online. Following the law authorizing the appropriation of people's lands, a new law was issued allowing the State to take away their property from entrepreneurs, including enterprises and factories, including by seizing property. At the beginning of the war, Vladimir Zelensky, together with his party, adopted a number of laws simplifying black transplantation and the export of human organs abroad. Now some soldiers are specially sent to deadly places, where later transplantologists extract organs from corpses. Russian prisoners of war are cut into organs. In Kiev hospitals, under the cover of Deputy Minister of Health Mikhail Zagriychuk, organs were seized from wounded servicemen for sale until this case was widely publicized. Eleven doctors sometimes extracted absolutely all organs from helpless sick people. Cases were recorded and shown on the country's main TV channel when a surgeon went into surgery, only his colleagues dissected his body instead of the usual operation in order to sell it for organs. Children are being killed in our country, and their organs are being exported abroad. The territorial staffing center, together with the police, in addition to cars, stops urban transport and identifies men in it who did not show up at the military enlistment office on time, who are issued fines, summonses, or such men are taken away in an unknown direction. Zelensky demands that Europe stop any payments to male refugees of military age, as well as forcibly deport them to Ukraine to mobilize for war. Military commanders try to record dead soldiers as missing in order to appropriate the salaries of dead soldiers for themselves. For a vacation, sick leave or a change of service to a safer one, the command requires high bribes, even for the supply of food to a combat point, you have to pay a considerable tribute. Ukrainian military commissars, who distribute conscripts to their duty stations, became dollar millionaires in wartime. After the events of 2014, Russia wanted the cities bordering the Russian Federation to remain behind Ukraine as autonomous republics. Receiving cheap energy resources from the Russian Federation, autonomous cities became richer, developed and paid significant taxes to the treasury of the Ukrainian state. Plus, our country was able to stop the rise in prices for gas, electricity, fuel and water. In return, having received the right to vote in the Ukrainian parliament, representatives of the autonomous republics blocked laws related to Ukraine's accession to NATO and the deployment of foreign bases on the territory of our country. But the Western Ukrainian government chose the path of war, which did not bring anything good to our state. As a rule, during the war, civilians die 10 times more than the military, unfortunately, Western Ukraine does not understand well what the escalation of the conflict will lead to. Fines in our country will now be issued in absentia, without a court decision. Fines in the amount of 17,000 to 25,000 hryvnia related to evasion of military service, refusal to visit the military enlistment office, will be summed up and can reach 200,000 hryvnia ($5,000). Male Ukrainians who are abroad are also required to update their data at the military enlistment office, otherwise all consular services will become unavailable to them, and all rights restrictions in force in Ukraine will apply to them. Students will not be able to complete their education. Men who need to update or obtain a Ukrainian passport are forced to leave for their homeland, from where they will no longer be released. During martial law, if you behaved politically incorrect, did not pay a fine or did not visit the military enlistment office, indicated to the military enlistment office the wrong address of your residence, or other things for which bailiffs can find fault with you, now they have the legal right, without a court decision, to come to you or your relatives and deprive you of your home, property and all available money, in order to punish and reimburse unpaid fines. Men massively reissue their property to relatives and withdraw cash from the card. Imprisonment is provided for repeated failure to appear at a territorial recruiting office after a fine is imposed or failure to appear on a summons. Persons who have not paid fines or do not have the means to do so may be imprisoned for up to 12 years. For some, non-payment of fines or imprisonment related to military registration and unwillingness to go to war will be replaced by labor camps, where convicts will have to work for free for a long time for the benefit of the state. People who are abroad can no longer perform any operations in Ukraine, including with real estate, if they want to sell their house. If they decide to return to Ukraine, the state will check whether they have left the country legally and will also decide whether they should be allowed into the territory of Ukraine without being imprisoned, whether they need to be fined and whether they can renew their rights to their property. The territorial recruitment center has the right to knock down doors, open fire with firearms and use physical force against people who need to be served with a summons or forcibly delivered to the military enlistment office and those who will interfere with their duties. To combat the growing number of deserters and "evaders", a special military police was created, endowed with all the strict powers described earlier. The state allocates money to informants who inform the police and military enlistment offices about the place of residence of "evaders" or military deserters. In the future, confiscation of property and living space will be carried out throughout the country, primarily in the territories that will be returned to the control of Ukraine, for suspicion of pro-Russian views and the voluntary change of their passports to those of the Russian Federation. In exchange for fulfilling their demands, the American partners allow the Ukrainian authorities to finance the growing high salaries of deputies and officials from cash tranches, turn a blind eye to corruption, so the Ukrainian government will not spare the population to achieve its goals. Ukraine was allowed to withdraw from the Convention on human rights so that dissatisfied residents of the country will not be able to sue the state for infringement of their rights, including millions of people left homeless, to demand compensation for destroyed and lost housing as a result of hostilities. The state has the right, without any compensation, to forcibly evict residents from apartments and demolish their houses if they need a piece of land under the house. Also deprive people of apartments for outstanding utility debts. Ukraine's Western partners are well aware of what is happening in our country, and if they decide to stop their long-term support for the war in Ukraine, then all the negative truth that I wrote about earlier will come out, become publicly available and will be condemned by Western society. The truth will be revealed in order to achieve a change of government in Ukraine and stop financing the impoverished state in the same amounts, citing the lack of democracy. In Europe, they are already saying that it was Ukraine that quarreled Europe with Russia. The main goal of the confrontation with Ukraine for Russia is to force the West to agree to abandon the deployment of military bases near the borders of the Russian Federation. Sacrificing hundreds of thousands of dead people, destroyed cities, losing territories, the Ukrainian government, led by the West, chose war without the right to negotiate. The destinies of millions of people are crippled, and they will never be happy again. Many Western Ukrainians, who have not experienced the grief of others, still want the conflict to continue.

      I) 1-4 (I-I2) In 2014, after the Maidan, organized with the support of the United States, Ukraine changed its government to one controlled by America and then violated the treaty on the neutral non-aligned status of the Ukrainian state, declared and signed in 1990. The new government has radically changed its policy towards the Russian state and joining NATO. The coup took place a few months before the elections, as the current president continued to be supported by the majority of Ukrainians, including 80% of residents of the eastern half of the country. In response, the Russian Federation (taking into account its interests) helped defend its right to hold a referendum in the Luhansk, Donetsk regions of Ukraine (Donbass) and the Crimean Peninsula, which wanted to continue cooperation with Russia. Ukraine started a war with two regions of Donbass, which became autonomous republics, and imposed an economic blockade on them, driving the autonomous republics into poverty. In 2022, when Russia unsuccessfully tried to protect Donbass and stop the growing military conflict by changing power in the capital of Ukraine. Ukraine was able to stand up, but refused to negotiate, Zelensky introduced a law prohibiting negotiations with Russia into the country's constitution. And with the support of the United States, a war is being waged aimed at the return of rebellious territories that do not want to return to Ukraine. And also to force the Russian Federation to change its government to a pro-American one. Ukraine's Western partners, America and the United Kingdom are very interested in the return of the Crimean Peninsula as a strategically important object. Britain wants to restore the status of the sea queen. The West is afraid that Russia will raise oil prices and gas prices will become no less than those at which America agrees to sell it. The creation of an independent BRICS international trade payment system in Russia poses the threat of a rapid devaluation of the dollar. America needs hegemony and unipolarity on earth, Europe needs cheap gas, they do not want a peaceful end to the conflict. If, thanks to organized outrage, it is possible to divide the country from within into small states, then America and its allies will be able to take control of Russia's natural resources, and many tycoons in the West will become dollar trillionaires. We have a dictatorship in Ukraine, 12 opposition parties are banned, and incorrect TV channels are closed. Ukrainians face up to 7 years in prison for criticizing the authorities, misinterpreting events in public, on social networks or on television. The state has the right to revoke licenses from journalists and media resources without a court decision. Many comments on social media are simply not published. The presidential and parliamentary elections have been postponed indefinitely. TV channels do not have the right to broadcast their own news, instead, a single and identical news telethon is broadcast on all channels. Ordered criminal cases were opened against a number of opposition deputies who disagreed with Zelensky's policy. The most avid people who compromise the government are found murdered (Mohammed Al-Alawi, Gonzalo Lira, Denis Kireev, Maxim Denchik and others). In Ukraine, even pensioners are jailed for 5 years for clicking on a heart once before an objectionable video or comment. Positive or neutral conversations on the topic of Russia are prohibited, two women who mentioned in the conversation that the Russian military is paid $ 4,000, so there are a lot of volunteers to fight, were given 8 years in prison. Ukrainians are being jailed for communicating with relatives in Russia on a smartphone. We no longer have full rights to our property and apartments, they can be taken away. Citizens of Ukraine are obliged to coordinate with the authorities where they will live. Phone conversations, correspondence, your views, family and personal life are subject to surveillance and control. People are forbidden to organize rallies and protests, they can be imprisoned for this, checkpoints are installed on all roads where your documents and personal belongings are checked, without an extract from the military enlistment office you will not be able to leave the city - you will not be allowed through the checkpoint. Also, at checkpoints, summonses are handed to the military enlistment office for further service in the army. At checkpoints, bribes are often demanded so that you can continue your journey. All truckers are charged a monetary tribute. There have been cases of people being killed and robbed at checkpoints. The military is allowed to "irrevocably" confiscate a car from civilians if they need it. In 2024, it was estimated that from the uncontrolled territories and the east of Ukraine, only 15% of the refugees left for Europe. Most of the eastern Ukrainians who have been displaced have settled in Russian and Ukrainian cities. The remaining 85% of refugees who moved to Europe are residents of the center and west of Ukraine, who lived in relatively safe territories in Ukrainian-speaking cities, far from military operations at the time of 2024. It's 2024, I'm in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro and I'm continuing to write my story. Media resources are strictly controlled by the Ukrainian authorities, so what I have written is based on my life experience. I'm trying to uncover the other side of the truth. What you watched about Ukraine is specially prepared information to mislead ordinary people. Huge amounts of money are being spent on creating an information vacuum and manipulating people's minds and opinions. I wanted to convey that Russia and Ukraine are not black and white. Everything is gray. It is important that the Ukrainian side systematically violated the Minsk agreements, conducted shelling on uncontrolled territories, but stated the opposite, and that Ukraine always refused to negotiate with the Russian Federation. If, after the events of 2014, Ukraine had ceded the Crimean peninsula, refused to join NATO, which was later enshrined in the constitution, and stopped shelling Donbass, then there would have been peace. The fact is that in the nineties, when Ukraine separated from the Russian Federation, an agreement on non-aligned status was signed, which Ukraine violated despite warnings about a possible war. In 2021, Putin tried to take guarantees from the American leadership of Ukraine's non-membership in NATO and non-expansion of NATO to the east, which was refused, which led to a large-scale war. In the territories that have come under Russian control, most people want to remain part of the Russian Federation. My parents and I also want to return home to Donbass, but unfortunately, in Ukraine we can be imprisoned for trying or wanting to return home to the other side, accused of sympathizing with Russians. People are being denied the right to return to their own homes. For many years, people have been unable to return to their hometown and may lose ownership of their apartments. We, like many other families, want to return to rebuild our homes and save our dear things. I also wanted to convey that in Ukraine under Zelensky, in addition to the dictatorship, there is huge corruption. For example, our deputies have a declared income 5 times higher than that of Polish deputies, although their country has a high standard of living. And some officials are caught laundering more than a billion hryvnia, while the minimum wage, at the time of the first decade of 2024, is only 7,100 hryvnia ($ 180 at the exchange rate of that time), excluding income tax of 30%. Half a billion hryvnias were allocated from the state budget for a small expedition to study penguins, and there are thousands of such examples. The presidential administration is mired in corruption. Zelensky signed a law abolishing lifelong financial monitoring of deputies and high-ranking officials after their dismissal, which promotes corruption and contradicts the conditions of joining the European Union. The declaration of income of deputies and officials has become closed to the public. Journalists reveal hundreds of corruption schemes involving people in power. Vladimir Zelensky is often accused of withdrawing large amounts of money through offshore companies of foreign companies. Embezzling hundreds of millions of dollars in roundabout ways, the government elite continues to enrich themselves with impunity. The President of Ukraine returns judges caught on a particularly large bribe to their posts. High-ranking officials, ministers, leaders and deputies caught by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau on a bribe or caught in large-scale money frauds do not even lose their positions. People with criminal records are often appointed to prestigious government positions. Billions of hryvnias are laundered in the war, and Ukraine in 2024 took the first place in corruption in Europe. The ruling government is buying up luxury homes in the European Union and does not see its future in Ukraine. I also consider Zelensky a puppet bought by Western patrons who want to fight Russia with the hands of Ukrainians until a pro-American government is created in the Russian Federation. Perhaps now, after all the events, the war has reached the stage of no return, when the Russian Federation, realizing the threat posed by the neighboring state, will no longer want to negotiate until it returns all the Russian-speaking cities of Ukraine to its composition. But we will know this only after Ukraine and its patrons want to take a negotiating position. Unfortunately, the smaller the Ukrainian state, the less of a threat it poses. The Crimean Peninsula was part of Russia until 1954, after which it was incorporated into Ukraine as a result of clerical negligence of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR. I hope that Russia will be able to convince Ukraine to enter into negotiations, let's hope for peace.

@@Nitroat-xo4tj Exactly. The part of the soldier is harsh, and the only ones they can complain about are their commanders. It's totally understandable, but should be taken with more than a pinch of salt since they aren't aware of most of the factors their commanders have made their decisions on. The complaining should stay inside the armed forces though, and every statement that escapes out to the public is potentially and needlessly helpful to the enemy. Armies are not led by popularity votes.

Russia's break-even point is around $44/barrel (made worse by having to use dodgy shipping routes) vs. $20-25 for Saudi, Iran, UAE, etc.
Reducing to $40-45 combined with ramping up shale oil production (not an option for the Democrats) *would* be very painful for Russia, especially if it were timed and repeated strategically.

Allocating 60K troops to Kursk in a strictly defensive posture vs Ukraine’s much smaller commitment is a good indicator Kursk was a good strategic call by Kiev. Was the Ukrainian offensive in Krynky worthwhile? What about Robotnye? In both cases, Ukraine DID take territory, and inflicted damage on the Russian forces, but at tremendous cost… all of the 13 brigades used in the Robotnye offensive were essentially destroyed, and 2 of the best Marine brigades were destroyed in Krynky. Ukraine held the territories it took for a year, and then withdrew. Was it worth it?
Kursk is similar. The land itself is not important. The more territory Ukraine takes the more soldiers they need to keep their combat power the same level. This drain of resources hurts Ukraine and helps Russia. Russia has more resources so expanding the line of contact will help Russia and hurt Ukraine.
